I'm repeating what I've been told by somebody who has seen the analysis of trends and ticket potential. The biggest crowd ever for Autzen was for the Ohio State game last year at 60,129. They would have sold more SRO tickets if the fans had shown up

another thing I was told about the analysis is that they could add 6000-7000 season to Autzen relatively cheaply, but the cost skyrockets if they are adding 8,000-15,000. There was also some indication that the nature of Autzen and it's decibel impact would change with a larger renovation, and not for the better. Empty seats deaden noise they don't add to it. And there'd be a lot of empty seats with a 75.000-80,000 stadium

Oregon would sell more than 60,000 tickets every game if the people came, but they've only hit that mark once
Certainly might be true. I honestly would not be the one to ask. That north second deck might be the best they could hope for.
My guess is tearing down and rebuilding a stadium is far enough off that it might be different in 10 years? Again that is just a thought I have. Nothing to go on here.

huh? There’s bigger college stadiums in smaller towns lol
Maybe smaller towns but I would bet they have more cities closer that they draw from. Eugene itself really isn't that big and they are two hours from Portland. Not sure how much they can draw from Salem, Albany, Grants Pass and Medford.
I'm no expert on population and those kinds of dynamics but I have traveled a bit. Seems like most of the schools have more bigger cities closer.

Portland is more like an hour away. The big house in Michigan (Ann Arbor) is similar size to Eugene with Detroit an hour away similarly

sure there are, but there are well over a million people in a 50 mile radius of the stadiums. Not the case for Eugene

the capacity of Autzen stadium when SRO is included is estimated as 61,000. It has never hit that mark and only 3 times has it hit the 60.000. If the potential to fill a 75,000-80,000 stadium was there, Autzen would consistently hit the 60,,000 mark. Yet it's only done that 3 times in the last 15 years

57,257 for Montana State
57,266 for Ok State
58,571 for the Beaver game this season
59,625 for Indiana
58,940 for Wisconsin
58,830 for Minnesota
59,588 for USC

that should tell anybody what the actual ticket selling level is. It sure isn't 80.000 at this point; or even 75,000. Imagine Autzen stadium with the empty seat number consistently being in the 15,000 range...after spending 300-400M. I've read that Rob Mullens had a rather vague plan that would upgrade the north side of Autzen and add new luxury seating potentially adding 7,000-10,000 seats. And the cost of his plan was vaguely set around 260M

I am born and raised here son. My wife is from Eugene. We drive it no less than once a month.
It’s two hours depending on traffic. The day before thanksgiving it was 3 1/2 hours.

Damn, Aldo may just want to close up shop now. They already embarrass themselves daily here, but damn, those are straight facts. Ouch.

All the proof you needed after all this time that he isn’t even FROM here. 🤖

I remember early in my career I used to make the trip form our house in Sellwood, to Corvallis and Eugene twice a week from September 1st til May. Depending on what game we were covering. I was younger and drove ALOT faster, but it was an hour exactly to the Corvallis exit on I-5 and it was another 15 to the OSU campus…….and could roll into Mac Court in about 1:35. But that was driving very aggressively.

Worse drive ever was after a Duck game and the Beavs were playing the Vikings about an hour after our game. Bumper to Bumper all the way into downtown PDX that night. Took like 3.5/4 hours. Brutal.

Im sure UW would like a bit smaller stadium. Probably more like 65K versus 71K.
Autzen should stay the same of no more that 62K.

Dante Moore enters the NFL draft
Sam Leavitt transfers to Oregon
Its rare that an athlete turns down the sorts of dollars a top NFL pick gets & Dante is projected by many to be just that... some prominent draft types have him as the #1 overall selection. I've heard George Wrightster recently speculate that if Dante were to return to Oregon his potential NIL deal would be 4Mil-ish. The #13 selection in last year's draft made 4Mil this year but the dollars escalate over 4 years guaranteed for 22Mil total or a 5.5Mil average. Massive financial incentives to turn pro ASAP.

While that has been my long held best guess as to how this goes, an impression I've gathered from various Duck podcasters I value is that they simultaniously have reason to think it's very likely he comes back.... like they've been told by a Dante camp insider he's coming back but don't want betray a confidence.

Speculating as to why Dante might spurn millions of guaranteed dollars to spend another season in Eugene besides the 4Mil & the absolute honor & glory of being the QB for the University of Oregon's Mighty Fighting Ducks & the joy of living in Eugene & kicking some more arse... If he feels staying is benefitting him and making it more likely he ultimately succeeds in the NFL, then his eye is on the real financial prize which is a starting NFL QB's 2nd contract. If he believes staying is the best path to take for him to become the best version of himself & hit the NFL ground running, then he'll be well paid & back in Eugene next season.

If you look at Bo Nix as an example. The extra year playing in college didn't hurt at all. He certainly was ready for the pros when he got there and the success is showing.
