And that's just dispensary sales. The black market is going crazy. Plenty of product and currently very easy to underprice the dispensaries. Craig's List is full of people selling various small containers (including ziplock baggies). When you buy a container, they give you free weed! Only in America!...I'd say Oregon was more than ready based on the fact that over $11 million in sales occurred in the first week alone!
I really have been enjoying going into a dispensary and trying a gram of this and a gram of that. That way, if I don't like it, I'm not out much money. And I get to try strains I've only heard about prior to legalization. Plus, I know it's (supposedly) grown according to certain requirements, what the THC and CBD is etc. My only complaint so far is, it's either pre weighed/prepackaged or, when they weigh it out, they're the only one who sees what the scale reads. I have yet to have it weighed in such a manner that I can see the scale readout. I'm not saying (or implying) anyone is fudging the scales but, from my "child of the sixties and seventies" viewpoint and experience., that's just bad dope etiquette. I'm used to a more....collaborative(?)......arrangement. But that's just nit picking. I've been very pleased with my experience so far, especially in terms options for pain management or relief. Between legalization and the new look Blazers, I'm loving the coming years!Dont ever feel bad about being old and asking question or feeling out of place guys. I put together a business plan for a rec shop to investigate the potential, and one of my biggest findings was that you guys are the target customers. You know, baby boomers who are open to the idea but either dont smoke much or its been a long time, because of laws and lack hook ups or the stigma that has been associated with it. The younger crowed probably already has cheaper hook ups and is buying in quantity. The expectation for these business is for you to buy a gram every week or two instead or in addition to some vino.
Key advice from an old smoker..don't overload a pipe..put in enough to burn to white ash with one hit..hold it...wait half an hour and repeat...every hit tastes good
so that's what poop tastes like? I'd have never known!Try a little grinder as well. It will make your weed burn more evenly and kind of unlocks the flavors and smells. That way also you never end up with that little charcoal chunk that tastes like poop and needs to be crushed up.

Spend 35 years in the wastewater treatment field. Tasted like money to me.....so that's what poop tastes like? I'd have never known!![]()
Don't try to spend that at the grocery store...Spend 35 years in the wastewater treatment field. Tasted like money to me.....
May I ask, what is CBD?
This was posted earlier in the thread and is a good summary of the effects and benefits of CBD.Decent summary, but suffice to say, it depends what you're looking for:
1) The High
THC is probably best known for being the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. CBD, however, is non-psychoactive. In other words, CBD can’t get you high. While disappointing to recreational users, this unique feature of CBD is what makes it so appealing as a medicine.
Doctors usually prefer treatments with minimal side effects, which has been a major barrier to the acceptance of medical marijuana. Likewise, CBD has been used to treat younger children with various ailments.
2) Anxiety
THC is known to cause some people to feel anxious or paranoid. But CBD is believed to have the opposite effect. In fact, studies show that CBD works to counteract the anxiety caused by ingesting THC. A number of studies also suggest that CBD can reduce anxiety when administered on its own.
3) Antipsychotic
In addition to being non-psychoactive, CBD seems to have antipsychotic properties. Researchers believe that CBD may protect marijuana users from getting too high by reducing the psychosis-like effects of THC. However, regulating the mind-altering activity of THC isn’t all that CBD is good for. On its own, CBD is being tested as an antipsychotic medicine for people with schizophrenia.
4) Sleep
One of the most common uses of marijuana is as a sleep aid. THC is believed to be responsible for most of marijuana’s sleep-inducing effects. On the other hand, studies suggest CBD acts to promote wakefulness, making CBD a poor choice as a sleep medicine. The opposite effects of CBD and THC on sleep may explain why some strains of cannabis cause users to feel drowsy while others are known to boost energy.
For the active, try Golden Pineapple (very happy stuff. Smoked some of this before a Giants game in Seattle. We walked 2.5 miles to the stadium and then back to the hotel after the game. Great energy) or Gorilla Glue (not the sniffing kind!). GG is also happy stuff, but maybe a bit more relaxing. Both are great strains. Jack Herer is another good one for "active". But I'm taking the same approach as you. Finding a particular favorite for particular situations. God I love that we are now able to do this!I've tried 4 samples of 1 gram apiece and it's interesting. There are so many different types ...local shop has about 40-50 recreational strains. I'm going to find the 4 types I can use for different purposes and then purchase a clone of each strain..should take me until spring to figure it out. I prefer the active, just go out of the health spa and feel like rearranging my bookshelves high as opposed to the stupor haze types. One strain is almost like endorphines kicking in after a workout. Another is a sleep aid which I don't need...ever..but my son does
