He basically says what 99% of the country feel:

When asked if Miami is the worst professional sports town, Barkley, who reiterated his admiration of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, said: "Yeah they have the worst fans. No question. It's not even loud in there. You're at the game and you are like, 'Man this place isn't even loud.' At least when you go to Chicago, it's loud in there, it's crazy down in Dallas but it's not even loud in Miami.

"Listen, if the Miami Heat were playing the Washington Generals I would pick the Washington Generals," Barkley said with a chuckle. "It's something about that team that annoys me.

"They just a whiny bunch and I can't root for them."

Regardless if the Heat win, I still think LBJ should have went to Chicago for that very reason. + if he wins it with MIA he aint going to come close to getting the MVP.

OT: Has anyone ever got the finals MVP on a loosing team? I doubt it, but I could see Dirk getting it

The Mavericks’ equipment involves more than simply pumping up decibels to levels that some experts fear could contribute to long-term hearing loss. Rather, with fans spoiled by earbud fidelity and 5.1-channel home theater systems, owners like the Mavericks’ Mark Cuban have turned hosting a game into producing an event — with “assisted resonance” and “crowd enhancement,” buzzwords for insiders and euphemisms for others.

Sixty mammoth speakers hanging above the court thunder music and clamorous sound effects louder than a jumbo jet engine. More speakers encircling the seating bowl replicate a roaring herd of horses in perfectly timed surround sound.

After tip-off of the recent playoff game against Oklahoma City in the Western Conference finals, microphones in the backboard amplified rim clangs, sneaker squeaks and the occasional player profanity, while devices dangling above the crowd — in the rare instances when the public-address system was not active — could redirect courtside crowd sounds into the distant upper mezzanine.

“It’s way better than old school — everyone’s getting into the game,” Mark Busbee, a 40-year-old Mavericks season-ticket holder, said during the second quarter of Game 5 of the Mavericks-Thunder series. “It’s a new era, a new age — why not leverage the technology that’s here today? It’s never too loud. If you don’t like it, watch the game at home.”

The Mavericks have received a few complaints about the cacophony, which lasts through most two-hour games at decibel levels between a power mower’s 90 and a rock concert’s 110. (The Occupational Safety and Health Administration considers 115 decibels for any time period to be dangerous.) Eventually, the only thing that speaks consistently louder than public-address systems is the attendance figures they help create.

Both of them top two posts up theres has grammmatikal mistake in them.

Qwest field also pumps in noise I believe.

NFL looked into that because it's illegal and they didn't find anything

As far as OKC, yeah, they definitely pump in noise. Been to a game there when I was visiting family and it was pretty noticeable.

Charles is right, the Heat fans that go to the games suck balls. For playoff basketball I'd almost call the atmosphere "funereal"

It's a fucking travesty.

"Fan Up?" The fact there was a need to print that is...pathetic.

interesting. Ive never been to an NFL game so I'm just going on what I read... I know for a fact they do it for Sounders games. When I went there we were in a section with no one behind us, but could hear like chatter behind us it was a weird feeling lol

It has been said several times in the forum that Barkley is an idiot because he doesn't think Portland is as good as some of the fans do. Wouldn't this statement make him an idiot also, or because it's about another team, it makes it ok?

Hey cut the Miami "fans" some slack, they have only been together for a year...

He's talking about fans not the team. Barkley is a character, nothing more, many times his comments on basketball are idiotic, but that's simply him playing his role on TV.

Jefferson Airplane. Fall of '69. The ushers wore earplugs and hated us.

The Rose Garden must amplify noise. Sit in the upper deck sometime. You can hear the clang from the rim.

they mic the rims, and during certain shots they must increase the volume (free throws).

And one proof that they do this, despite what people who work that might say to the contrary, is the feedback that you'll hear often enough to not be a coincidence.

Say what you want about Barkley, but he speaks his mind. Sure, he might say idiotic things but he also points out what people are too afraid to say.

It's too bad the Blazers didn't pull the trigger to acquire him. He has shown love for the Rose Garden crowd and has stated that the Blazers were the one team he'd play for if he could play again.

Despite his annoying antics, he would've made a great Blazer.

I think he's still an idiot. That Miami is significantly more "whiny" than most NBA teams is a bit of a joke to me.
