OT Celtic's Green to miss season

He is having heart surgery. He should be back next season. What a blow for the Celtics.

Thank goodness they caught it now. The guy is only 25. The Celtics already lost two great players to heart problems.

There is no injury, including heart problems, that the Blazers are immune to.

Scary stuff for Jeff. Hopefully his surgery goes well, and he makes a full recovery.

Technically, it's not a heart problem; he has an aortic aneurysm. My dad had the same condition. The abdominal aorta is the main artery from the heart to the lower portion of the body. An aneurysm results when a wall of the aorta thins out and allows a ballooning of the vessel. If it gets too large and bursts, you bleed to death. Green's fortunate that they found it so that it can be repaired. It's a tough surgery, but it sounds like they expect he'll be able to return to playing next season.

Yeah, I agree with you guys that it's great that the doctors found it and expect to fix it, but damn it sucks because I was excited to see what he could do this year for us.

Perkins has his own health issues though, and he's not the reason the Celtics were so dominant. Defensively he could actually improve more.

It sucks for Green but I think the Celtics were right to look for an upgrade.
