OT: Cousins/AD Pelicans look like garbage

So LAC losing Paul and Ginger wasn't the main factor in us getting to the second round?
The games have to be played. Are the Warriors not champions because Love and Kyrie didn't play in 2015. Lillard has been to second round twice. Period.

Lebron didn't make the playoffs his first year.
The team improved and he had made Finals in year 4. AD didn't win a playoff game in his first four years. See the difference?

How the hell is a big man supposed to make his teammates better? I'm tired of this "Great payers make their teammates better". It may be true for guards in some situations, but that's because they handle the ball.

AD can't make his guards hit 3s or make them create off the dribble. AD can't make his teammates healthy.

Gordon and Anderson are winning now because they're surrounded by a ball dominant guard who gets them wide open looks, and they're also healthy, and they're also in D'Antoni's system.

You missed my point. Winning is based on the team, not the best player. A PF doesn't handle the ball, so they can't control the game like a guard (Ex. Harden). Davis has a major impact but he needs players that can actually control the game without turning the ball over, defend, make shots, and stay healthy.
Duncan made his teammates better. He handled ball and made passes but it's not just passes. It's leadership, often by example, and putting your team in a position to succeed.

Jrue Holiday was All Star before he came to NO.

That's because ball handlers and playmakers have more control over the game.

No great post player has ever had shitty guards and won.
Duncan made players like Avery Johnson and Jaren Jackson look way better than they ever were. Bowen would've been a nobody if he didn't play with Duncan.

They didn't gut their bench, though. They only traded three players and got one back with Cousins (so, only lost one player's worth of depth, net) and two (Hield and Galloway) were pretty poor players. Neither player is the type that prevents a 17% shooting performance, really.

Basically, they went from one superstar and a crappy supporting cast to two superstars and a crappy supporting cast. Still not a contender, but closer.
Hield looked good last night

Finally, New Orleans has TWO ALL STARS and got blown out. How many All Stars do they need to not get blown out?

Longley is a winner. Those guys may be better players but they couldn't win. Absurd-Rahim was a good player but couldn't win.
Stay on topic. Lillard got to the second round, period. Doesn't matter why, according to you, for the sake of your argument. So since Longley won titles, regardless of why, he's better than those guys

Would you trade Jusuf Nurkic for Anthony Davis king?

Lol. You think Duncan was a leader as a rookie? When they won a championship? No. Duncan had great teammates, and great coaching. That coaching
Jrue Holiday was All Star before he came to NO.
Jameer Nelson, Mo Williams, and Devin Harris are other one-all-star wonders at PG. Had a fluke year.

Holiday also can't stay healthy.

LOL.

That statement has no base. I just went and looked at those two players stats. There was NO difference between their per 36 stats when they were playing with or without Duncan.

You basically just named players that played with Duncan and said a baseless claim of "he made them better" while the data shows otherwise.

He made those guys look good by commanding so much attention in the post.

That makes no sense. He made those other good?

Those guys might get more open looks but that doesn't mean they're any better. And their stats don't show that they did better with the hypothetical increase in open shots.

You have no base to your argument.

This is hurting my brain!!!!! It's like a kid in a corner stomping his feet about how HE is right and everybody else is so wrong! SIGH
Are you sure? Dumb people can't take it, smart people laugh at it.

Pelicans sure cold use a guy like Crabbe Do they have anything we would want to offload Crabbe? Ezeli, Vonleh & Crabbe for thier 2018 1st & Motiejunas?

Motiejunas might pair up wel with Nurkic. He has fallout off the maps but had a great season with Houston a few years ago. If anything he could be a serviceable backup?

Gives them an outside shooter, some money off their cap with Ezeli, and a replacement body at PF ion Vonleh.

Is there a site that allows you to build trades that includes draft picks?

Looks like the trash team lost again last night, neither game close now. They're not a good fit.

Pelicans will be after players better than Crabbe come next Summer. With the likes of Redick and Caldwell-Pope hitting free agency they will make a run for both, hard to say if they succeed but they will 100% try.

It will be interesting to see if UFA's have a desire to play with Cousins. We will see if the rumors were true from the Kings radio guy or if they were BS about his teammates hating playing with him. Of course money talks but if the Pelicans don't get much love from FA's, a contract absorption for someone like Crabbe may be their best option.

with needing to retain/pay Jrue (who is a UFA) or pay up for another PG I don't believe they will have much cap, if any for a good FA/ They have 87 mil committed to 10 active contracts and a 15 mil cap hold on Jrue, that puts then right at the 102 mil estimated cap

Plus extension for Boggie the next year.

They will be trying hard to get rid of Hill and Asik. Maybe there will be takers.

Another game in which Cousins and Davis put up big numbers last night yet they still lost. Playoffs are drifting away and in 5-6 games could be well out of sight at this rate. They've lost 37 games already so even considering that 8th seed this season will have a very poor record (all of their direct rivals lost last night too), I don't think you can lose more than 47 and still get into playoffs. That means they cannot lose more than 10 games in the remaining 22. It'll be tough for sure in this form.

If they keep playing like this then it will have turned out to be somewhat a decent deal for Kings, all things considered, if they draft well. Kings will commence the tank now and even though they will have to swap picks with Philadelphia if they go too far, Sixers pick will likely be #6 or #7 at worst too. Then the New Orleans pick is now projected to be #7 so that would mean two top 10 picks. We are talking about the franchise who has had a top 10 pick in most of the last 6-7 drafts and ended up with one decent player from it but nevertheless, they could potentially get two stars in one draft. It's absolutely key for Sacramento to not fall out of top 10 with their own pick and not have it go to Chicago though.
