We are going to miss him. Maybe not now. But three, four or maybe five years down the road.... we are going to miss not having Tim Duncan in the league any more. He was the anti-star. The Stan Musical of the NBA. It's those kinds of guys you miss.

The NBA is an ego driven league. The small number of players magnifies their personalities and ideosyncratic natures.

We never truly miss the Jordans, Barkleys, Kobes or the Shaqs. Their personalities are too much in the public eye. But we do get tired of hearing about the time they threw somebody through a nightclub winow, or hearing about some skank they knocked up on the road or about their gambling problems.

Duncan just did his thing and was as smooth as silk. He had that sly smile after a playoff game where he just cut your heart out. Maybe we won't miss that!

But we'll miss the quiet elegance which made him one of the top 5 players to ever play this game. And the quiet way he conducted himself off the court. I hope he stays involved with the game in some way. I think he'd make a great league official.

Yeah. But I you know there's a major chance you saw Elvis live. (Sighs) Which is another reason I secretly ruminate in the shadows of S2 in sheer jealousy of you. Every guitarist or band that I discovered through years of listening to dusty vinyl records or reading various Richie Unteberger books at Tower Books..... you came to as if by birthright.

You maybe old... but as the punk band NoFx sang, "Mom and Dad/How'd You Get So Rad!"

I never did, but I saw that one..50s black leather Elvis ...he was the drive in movies for me..there weren't many live concerts back then

Elvis is my ultimate musical holy grail. Some people study the Turin shroud..... I study the importance of Elvis. You've got the physical personification of 20th century music right there. The things that this country doesn't know about him could fill another Bible.

Who's Duncan's heir apparent? Had figured it would be AD but he only plays 65 games a season.

Gotta feeling it's gonna be KAT. He has that charisma to match his talent.

Can the Spurs imagine a world where their dynasty ends at some point? I honestly don't think they can. They think their shit doesn't srink so much that literally every move they make at any level is golden. LMA will take over for Duncan. Pops will have a chosen successor. It's just a continous process, right?

They are like Patriots fans only slightly less delusional. The idea that there is another team smart and capable enough to eat their lunch and replace them in the big picture is beyond thinking.

KAT is the likeliest choice, I agree. AD if he solves the health issue.
 
I bet the Spurs are semi mad at TD for not announcing sooner and fucking up their cap. They lost out on Diaw and Boban's for this.
 
A class guy from day one to the end of the 19th season. The NBA was lucky to have him
