OT - First female NBA referee Violet Palmer announces she is gay

Why did I think this was already known? Palmer has actually developed into one of the better refs, IMO, at least in terms of being balanced in her calls. She also doesn't make herself the story and impact the game needlessly, such as a Joey Crawford, who is just awful.
 
We should all get together and send a wedding present.

And not a gag present like eye glasses. Maybe a nice set of towels monogrammed with the Blazer logo.

Yeah, I think that was the sound of a feather hitting the floor.

It's a common thing in women's basketball in general. Much more so than in other sports, as far as I can tell. I have no idea why that would be.

I thought it was a widely known thing as well. I guess I just assumed it and sterotyped her off the bat.
 
She sucks. Maybe recently she's gotten better but she was horrible in the past.
 
She is pretty balanced in her bad refereeing, I'll give her credit for that.
 
Her first several years, she was widely considered the worst NBA referee. She's probably announcing now because her job is more secure.

Why does she feel the need to announce her sexual orientation? It doesn't change the fact she's a shitty ref.
 
Good for her.

Doesn't change the fact that she stands out as one of the worst referees in a league with horrific officiating.
 
My this is uninteresting. Who is supposed to care? I alway thought of her as a crappy ref.
 
Damn. Everytime I develop a crush on a female NBA referee with a sexy hairstyle, she turns out to be gay.

Actually, Violet Palmer has been out for 7 years; she announced her upcoming wedding. Mozel tov to the two ladies on their marriage after 20 years together.

Kind of blows away Kenny Anderson's claim that Ms. Palmer was staring at players' asses instead of the game doesn't it?
 
It ruined my theory on how she got the job, although it doesn't rule it out entirely.
