OT (I hope): CLE trading the Juggler

I actually like the move for Cleveland in getting Iman Shumpert. He's a pretty good young defender.
My only concern is can their coach play with a two guard who can't throw a rock in the ocean.
Will further allow players to pack the lane vs Lebron/Irving. They need 3 and D players. Not just D or O.

They have two 3 and D players, Marion and Miller. However the are old and should be looking for an upgrade, If I were the Cavs I'd look to somehow land Afflalo.
 
That's not enough though.

There is no way the Nuggets trade Afflalo.
 
If dalembert gets waived to do the deal, do the blazers want to swoop?
 
Denver just traded for Afflalo. They are playing much better according to the media and especially the blazer announcers. I don't believe they're in full rebuild mode like you are trying to imply.

Also your previous trade machine is a little iffy. OKC only has to get up perkins to get waiters? While the Knicks are giving up Shumpert/Smith, and one gives up the #4th pick of the draft? seems pretty lopsided towards OKC.

I wish you could add picks to the machine because New York is gonna get them, they're gonna waiver whomever they get anyway.
 
Basically, NY would rather have expirings and picks than waiters. And I don't blame them

They get a legit scorer in Dion to add to their bench that already has Jackson.
 
Knicks getting and waiving Lance Thomas, Amundson, and Alex Kirk. Are we interested in Kirk?

I'm not sure how far I'd take "legit scorer"...you guys know my love for LMA's jumpers---Waiters overall (FG%, eFG%, TS%) is worse than if LMA was taking only 20' jumpers all day long. 25% from 3 this year, 32% for his career.... dude shoots 55% at the rim and 32% everywhere else.

When Adams is in foul trouble what do they do? Put in Collison? The playoffs will not be kind to the Thunder, if they make it. Waiters also isn't Harden and him and Jackson together is a poor mans version of Jennings and Ellis together, that's not a compliment.
 
They are basically replacing Roberson's minutes with the jugglers, meh
 
Dion Waiters is a talented young scorer who has spent his entire career in the wrong situation. This would make OKC very scary, except Brian is spot on...Westbrook ain't giving that rock up.
 
Ya I like this trade for OKC. They get a you scorer off the bench.
 
All you have to do is look at Waiters' game log from last year, and tell me we couldn't use that off the bench. OKC scored without giving up a thing.
 
we had a no-conscience gunner named Mo (and Jamal before that). When Waiters is shooting 36% from 3 he's useful, but when we have Wes and Nic (not to mention anyone else) there's not 30 minutes of wing play to go around. He's a below-average shooter, a below-average ORtg (barely), a below-average PER and brings no other skills (leadership, defense, passing) to the table. :dunno:

I wouldn't kick him off the team, but I wouldn't trade a ton to get him. I would've given up TRob only b/c it gives us an extra year of evaluation. Probably wouldn't have given a first.

Waiters is no different than Nick Young. Guys who when on bad teams put up numbers but once they are put onto a winning team they don't have what it takes to play off ball to better players.

I might be lumping you in here, so I appoligize if that's the case. But aren't you one of the guys who wants Jeff Green?
 
if Portland had one player on the bench with more than two games of 20 points or more, I might feel differently. This team is in serious need of a scorer, and bench scorers do not typically shoot at a high percentage.

I think Meyers Leonard AND Dion Waiters playing for the Blazers might be too much for MediocreMan to handle, so I'm against it on principle.

Not really, but no worries. I'm ok with the roster. I think we need to play more strategically. Obviously if we get a massive upgrade offer, then fine, but I like where we're at.
 
Here's how it went down.

The reeling Cavs need a win against the league's worst team. In its 14 home games this season, Philly hasn't won even one. Waiters, visiting his home town of Philadelphia, buys many tickets for his friends to see him play. The Coach announces Waiters will start! He started months ago early in the season, but not since.

The arena announcer gives the starting lineups as fans cheer their roster and boo the visitors. Waiters runs into the spotlight, then returns to the bench. The dozens of people who got free tickets cheer him. Now 1 minute 30 seconds till tipoff. Players like Love are out on the floor, getting ready. A messenger arrives at the bench. Oh, uh, you 3 guys just got traded. Waiters, Amundson, and Kirk--Get your asses back to the locker room.

Instead, Waiters was left to chat with reporters before the game about how many tickets he had secured for friends and family coming to see him play in his home city ("Too many to count," Waiters said). And he was left to go out on the court in his Cavs uniform and warm-up gear and wave to his people in the stands before the national anthem. And he was even left to be announced last in the starting lineup -- his first start since the third game of the season -- as a solid contingent of the Philly faithful cheered for their hometown son.

The timing was so off kilter, there was just 1:30 left on the clock before tipoff when word finally made its way to the Cavs' bench about what was going down. Waiters, Amundson and Kirk were unceremoniously whisked off the court and back to the injury-free locker room, where they couldn't possibly tweak an ankle or pull a hammy to mess things up.

"I didn't see them," said Kevin Love. "I was on the floor when it happened. I'm usually the first one out to go get a feel for the ball, so I didn't get a chance to say anything to them."

The article says about GM David Griffin's lack of class...

if he had known that a deal was so imminent, there's no way word doesn't get passed on from the Cavs' front office to the coaching staff Monday evening in Philadelphia to make sure Waiters stays back at the hotel while the swap is cemented.

The Cavs, with no time before the game to adjust emotionally, play in shock and lose to the worst team in the league.

We don't need Waiters. CJ and Crabbe are both better shooters off the bench, with much better attitudes, shot selection, and teamwork.
