Money... the first time he dunked was hilarious. So those guys had no idea? I wonder if they told them afterwards.

Really? It was very cool, but very staged. All those people just so happened to be drinking Pepsi Max and there just so happened to be at least 3 or 4 cameras there shooting. I don't think people anywhere are that stupid.

Ditto. 'cept HCP's bosses.

It was definitely staged, but they could have staged it without telling people what it was or who the old guy is. The people on that court could have merely thought it was a promotional event for Pepsi. :dunno:

you mean at every late night street court game there aren't a bunch of miked up hottie models oohing and ahhhing?

the viewer has to employ a little suspension of disbelief to enjoy this facade... which I did. But of course it doesn't really stand up to an authenticity smell test

"Pepsi MAX went to a pick-up game in Bloomfield, NJ pretending to shoot a documentary on a basketball player named "Kevin." When his Uncle Drew came into the game, some magical things happened. www.PepsiMAX.com/facebook"

Whether it's fake or not, I don't care. Watching this intoxicated is awesome.

Typical street basketball. Racially integrated, no one with facial hair or long hair except Uncle Drew, no fat guys, most of the white guys either have crewcuts or are balding deskworkers--the setting should be the YMCA. Until the surprise ending, I was going to say that white-hairs can't hang on the rim because they can't even raise both arms.

It's something different so I like it.

First thought: didn't they do the "NBA Star in old man makeup pretending to be older relative" with LeBron already?
Second thought: is this a cruel comment on Irving's inability to stay healthy?

I can't believe he said "don't reach" without following up with "or I will teach". And where was "mouse in the house"?

I was thinking it must've been tough to play a whole pickup game in all that latex old-man makeup--but then I remembered that Greg Oden did it for his entire NBA career.

I was just replying to NB3 who sounded as if he thought it was real. I enjoyed it. I love this kinda' stuff...... I did a short doc on street ball as my final project in college.

That's a mighty popular choice in freshman remedial literature.

I think some of it was real. Obviously there were people there who knew what was going on, and I'm sure people started to wonder what was going on after he did an off-the-backboard jam, but some of the reactions seemed pretty real.

I started to catch on when his teammate dribbled it off his foot and he yelled, "Jarrett!"

...chapter 2, featuring Kevin Love as "Wes"!

These are pretty damn funny, I kinda hope they add a few more with different NBA players.

Man, the 'Uncle Drew' one was bad enough. Why do more?

It's an idea that, as played out as it is, will always be somewhat entertaining, but they should really make it real. The completely staged environment negates Irving's "Uncle Drew" facade and makes it hard to watch.

Not to mention, if you're trying to set up a shock value reaction based pick-up game, why throw Kevin Love into the mix?

"Wow, look at that old man's fundamentals!" --- Pepsi intern posing as a 'random spectator' in a crowd that's a little too perfectly diverse.

Who wouldn't rather watch someone like Gerald Green pulling the same stunt on a real crowd?

The first one, we didn't know about. It looked suspicious to me that the old player was so energetic and coordinated, so halfway through I was thinking he must actually be young. But I didn't know it was the youngest star in the NBA.

In the second video, we see the name "Kyle Irving" at the start, several times at the end, come on. Keep it a secret, try to fool people, make it a funny surprise when someone finally tells them.
