He played a golden state team that is devoid of bigs, and Biedrins was in foul trouble for much of the time Gasol was out there.
That adds him to the rookie of the year race. I wish Oden can play like that. Perhaps the Lakers should have held on to him.

Oden can play better than that. I look forward to Greg Oden's first outing against Marc Gasol. Andres Biedrins put up 16 points and 22 boards against him.
Rudy is definitely a player too, don't you think?
So...? 27 and 16 is HUGE no matter who he played. Those are Dwight Howard numbers.
One game does not automatically put him in the ROY race.

He had 12, 12, & 2 in his first game too. So he is definitely the early leader.
Mike Rice said tonight that he thought that Batum would end up in the top 4 for ROY, I think on Courtside.
g
Doubtful. Batum isn't that good.
It'll probably come down to Rose, Beasley, Fernandez, and Gasol.
If the Bulls move Gordon back into the starting lineup, and Ginobili starts for the Spurs, there could be a situation that arises like Gordon in 2005, where he loses out on the ROY, but Fernandez wins the 6th man of the year.
You counting out Oden completely?
Yes.
Why? I'm curious.
He's been miles better than Oden so far.
He has no offensive skills, will be out of shape for a big chunk of the year and not play in other parts of the year. He will also probably be inconsistent. And not Derrick Rose inconsistent, like Rose having a bad game tonight of being 14 points on 7-16 shooting. His bad games will be him basically doing nothing on the court.
He's just not on par with some of these other players, and has a long way to go to catch up to them.
Gasol looked good. He is poised and he's old for a rookie... but he's a darn good-looking player (if not a good-looking man). It's not crazy to consider him in the RotY race.
Unfortunately, I'm playing against him this week in fantasy basketball. Dammit.
Another good-looking rookie? Jason Thompson, from Sacramento. The guy played center in college but he handles the ball on the break astoundingly well. His team got blown out tonight, but both he and Hawes look pretty good for the Kings' future.
