The block was clean. It was a bad call. Happens all the time. To all players. You can't put down LeBron because of one bad call. And the Magic won the game so it didn't really affect anything. LeBron is a great GREAT player and it's not because of the refs.

west should have made his shot. doesn't matter because he didn't. lebron was fortunate to make his shot, but he made it so that's that.

Not to mention Mo should've made the buzzer shot off the jump ball.
 
The last 5 minutes of the Laker/Denver game where it slowed to a crawl and was a parade to the free throw line was one of the boringest 5 minutes of basketball I have ever watched. Between not letting them play, and going overboard with the flagrant fouls (It is to the point I would rather they just get rid of the rule, and have technical fouls only).

The facts are, the game was faster when they allowed the hits. The facts are, the fans want a fast paced game. At the rate they are going with the fouls, the game is no faster than NFL play which has a play clock between plays. Fuck that, that is not what basketball is about. Clean up the reffin. Let em play.

...they have done this every game of the series so far, mainly to give L.A. every possible chance to win [it worked well in game 1...Stern's mafia is legit...too legit to quit, hey heeeyyy!!!]

The Nuggets had a 29-11 FT edge in game one late into the game and the score was tied with a comparable amount of shots in the paint IIRC. We earned that last stretch, same with last night with the flagrant on Drew, tech then six fouls on Luke in 13 minutes, etc. Luke pissed off one ref after he told him he got hit in the neck by Nene, then got called for three straight fouls. We're not liked by everyone.

What's the over-under on total number of foul shots taken in tonights Cavs/Magic game. I think it is 90.5 and I would take the over.

On who? That could easily have been called a foul on Howard. First he pulled on Varejao's arm and then he was trying to go over Varejao's back to get to the ball.

That said, the "foul" on James, when James tripped and fell down, was definitely not a foul, IMO.

dwight clearly fouled varejao before varejao fouled him. the call there was either a foul on dwight that sends varejao to the line to win the game or a no call. i think they made the right decision.

How did Dwight foul him first? I only watched it once, so I'm not sure what happened.

dwight grabbed varejao's arm and pulled his way around him. then varejao just backed him out from the basket area and dwight locked arms with him and pulled him to the ground. there were really 3 fouls on the play, the first and last being on dwight. there's no way dwight should have gone to the line there.

The call that appeared the weakest was at the end of regulation. His team down two, James drove the lane, fell down, and Mickael Pietrus was called for a foul. It seemed like the classic case of a superstar bailout call, and didn't we all get a little sick at the thought that such a big game would be decided in such a manner. Looking at the replay, though, it's undeniable that James fell because Pietrus's foot tangled with James'. It might not get called that way every time, but it was a trip.

Or 82 Heat games and seen how many calls Wade doesn't get?

I think it's hilarious to think that Kobe gets FEWER calls than other superstars without having any data to back the claim. I don't know that he gets more than other superstars, but he certainly seems to get just as many from what I've seen.

We know he gets calls that wasn't the point. Is it really hilarious? I think some proof was already provided.

Well in the link above you have a case of in his prime Shaq, getting fouled on purpose at the end of games and only taking shots in the paint, averaging less free throws than Bron this post-season. If that doesn't qualify I'm not sure there is anything that could occur to sway your opinion.

I was pulling for the Cavs to win the series since I used to enjoy watching LeBron play. However, after the last two games I have to say I hope LeBron never wins another game. The differential treatment he gets is staggering and sickening. He is getting an advantage he simply doesn't need.

Also, the tech on Howard for taunting was utter horseshit. The game never should have even gone to overtime. Only in the NBA could the officials make Dwight Howard a sympathetic character.
 
I wanna see blazer fans keep complaining about "superstar" calls when roy is getting them 2 years from now.
 
One thing I have noticed though throught he playoffs.. I have seen a lot more of Kobe driving getting hacked and not getting calls. And Lebron driving and barely getting touched and he gets the calls.

Yes, I think it's hilarious that by watching 82 Lakers games (but not watching 82 games of any other team with a superstar) we are supposed to walk away thinking that Kobe gets fewer calls than other superstars.
