Ducks fans are very annoying. Just the simple fact that a lot of Duck fans on here think the ducks still have a chance at the RB... The Ducks dont stand a chance at the Rose Bowl. First off, just to get to the tie breaker the ducks would have to hope they coud beat OSU in Corvallis. Then hope that USC looses to UCLA just to get to the tie breaker that they stand no chance at winning. The Tie Breaker goes to OSU if it is a 2 or 3 team tie breaker with USC or USC and UO.

No matter what way you look at it, the last 3 years OSU has been as good as anyone in the Pac-10 outside of USC!

But the last 2 years so has Oregon. (last year and this year)

I'm really happy with a bye week this weekend, and I am lookin' forward to watching the OS vs Arizona game. You lookin' forward to that game mobes? Huge game for the program huh?

No doubt -- should be interesting. Just hoping I don't get ulcers while watching it.

(I'm still not down with the whole OS thing -- am I the only one continuing to think it's absurd? I think I'll be an old man throwing the 'U' around with people thinking I'm a crazy codger.)

There's no denying OSU has been good recently, but they still are subpar on the road. Bottom line. Penn State and Utah and Stanford proved it AGAIN this year.

I hear ya. Who needs stinking numbers anyway?

lol, what happened to such a civilized thread?! Reading through your posts, some of you really get angry over College Football.. I guess any thread that mixes the two teams is doomed to this.

mobes23, why so much hate towards UO??? I mean, I have friends and relatives that go to both schools and I go to at least one OSU and UO game with them each year. In fact two years ago, I was in Autzen when the Beavs beat USC. They announced the final score....and people cheered. I would think Oregon State fans would do the same (and maybe the majority do, I don't know for sure), since we're all Oregonians and would rather see each other do good rather than out of state teams. Perhaps you're just someone who takes this whole thing a little over the top.

Hmm, i haven't seen most any duck fans talk about a BCS bowl period. Its a somewhat disappointing season but we are at least gettin' up to the point that we can challenge for a bcs spot year in and year out. We have a lot of resources to start getting to that point. The last 2 years have been pretty good, hopefully it gets better and we can get to double digit wins per year.

The thing about Duck fans, is no matter how myopic we are, and some of us are delusional, but we love our team. Man, we love our team. We will let them know when we aren't happy, but we will always be there no matter what.

Ha, ha -- no doubt, I AM over the top in the forum. In real life, I'm less so, but I still love talking trash with Duck fans. That said, the best way I can describe it is to wind the clock back to 1991 (yeah, I'm getting old when my references are that far back.) Duck fans 2008 are pretty much the same as Husky fans 1991. Both sets think they're a little bit better than everyone else and that, simultaneously, everyone loves secretly loves them. It's an attitude that gets old.

I think fans of the two teams would be behaving very differently if the roles were reversed and the Ducks had their Rose Bowl destiny in their own hands. I know I'd be quietly watching the results on Saturday, checking tiebreaker rules and keeping the hope up. I would not be publicly dissing the team ahead of us in the standings and acting like they can't win on the road (when the facts don't support it.) As it is, I feel like I have to defend my team and it's more than a little ridiculous.

Sorry man, but you can't call something "bottom line" when you can't even define it. What does "subpar" mean in this context? Do you mean subpar compared to our home record? Well then, subpar wouldn't be surprising, since we are undefeated at home. Subpar compared to the rest of the Pac-10? That just isn't true.

Obviously the Beavs play better at home. Almost every team in the nation does. What is your point? If we were REALLY THAT bad on the road, we wouldn't be near the top of the Pac-10 over and over. Something no other team in the Pac-10 (other than USC) can say over the last 10 years.

Please do not bring up Bowl Records when it comes to OSU. Outside of Mizzou in 06, you haven't beaten shit!
The other good team you played this decade (Pitt in 02) handed it to you.
Notre Dame in 04, Maryland in 07, some shitty MWC team (New Mexico? in 03) are good ways to pad your bowl stats. I hate when people think OSU is so superior in regards to bowl games just based on record, but look who the fuck they have played?!?!
.
Then blame the NCAA committee for what team OSU plays against in the Bowls. Don't blame OSU for low RPI bowl opponents. Stop ripping on OSU. Perhaps having a winning bowl streak helps with recruits and press?

Yes, OSU tends to start off weak in their record but at least they develop an identity and finish off strong.

Wow, what a win tonight. Classic gritty OSU win. I had visions of Serna/LSU 2.0 but Kahut came through in the clutch. And Sammie Frickin Straughter is the man. Get well soon, Quizz and Moevoa. We're going to need you for the Rose Bowl (and could help in the Civil War...).

I would be surprised if Quizz is ready for the Civil War, but we can hope. The early diagnosis was a slightly seperated shoulder. I would think that you would need at least a couple of weeks to recover from that.

come on quizz!! you gotta toughen it up for the civil war!! huge implications in that game

good win beavs, didnt think they would pull it out.
Can't believe zona went to a prevent D and played to lose on their last possession..oh well they wil never win with stoopid at the helm.
I can't wait for the JJ and Blount rushing show next week!

2 things:
1-Do not count your chickens before they hatch
2-Do you really want PSU to do that to you again?

Pretty sure the next time MAS RipCity compliments the Beavers without a back-handed insult then followed up by more shit talking about the Beavers will be the first time.

no kidding. big guy is mad that the "elite program" has been in second place to the "small program" for a few years now

Get off your high horse buddy
I gave OSU their credit, it was a nice comeback, but anyone could see Zona played to lose, was that OSU's fault? No, but it was still the truth.
They also played pretty bad prevent D. I give OSU credit for taking advantage.
I also had to work in Corvallis for over 3 years so I can only stand so much orange and black!:ohno:

I don't have a high horse - it is simply true. I have never seen you post a compliment about OSU without adding a back-handed insult into it to suggest that somehow the opponent screwed up so OSU was lucky in that regard, OSU didn't get a lucky call, or any other various yet similar things.

Just look at your response - you did it again. You had to throw in that the Wildcats played really bad in some aspect instead of simply stating "Good win by the short-handed Beavs".

But please continue to think that you don't do this (or a lot of Duck fans in general don't do this).

I'll continue sitting in my normal-elevated chair.

So...OSU did NOT benefit from UA running up the gut 3 straight times with the lead?
Where I come from, that is playing not to lose.
Usually when one team wins, it has a little to do with their performance and a little to do with how the other team performs.
OSU took advantage of UA's mistakes which good teams do, but it still doesn't discount UA made mistakes. That is a part of sports. I never said it was the SOLE reason OSU won either, just pointing out UA's mishaps in the 4th quarter because Mike Stoops' coached teams are terrible.
Its the truth, just deal with it.

yeah thank god for dropped balls on 4th down, i mean oregon didnt do anything that great, arizona just lost the game on that play

Yep Oregon got a big break from arizona, no doubt and BLOUNT made them pay for it, just like OSU did tonight after zona played to lose, is this really that fucking hard to comprehend?

where I come from, MAS Ripcity sounds either bitter, or jealous.

No, here's the truth. Oregon fans like to talk a lot about how Beaver fans compare themselves to the Ducks a lot. Yet all I ever see is Duck fans disregarding Oregon State after a win. I really hardly ever if at all see a Beaver fan comment on a Duck win or loss except maybe - tough loss or good win. I don't see Beaver fans talking a lot of shit before the season (I do see Duck fans on Blazers boards doing this though) or during the season - until after an Oregon State win a Duck fan throws back-handed compliments at the Beavers or after an OSU loss Ducks fans really, really start the shit talking.

You like to point out OSU getting lucky because Arizona made some mistakes. Okay, yeah, UA made some mistakes. Oregon State also had to overcome not having their starting quarterback (although I am not a big fan of Lyle) and losing Jacquizz except for the first half of the first quarter. I'd say Oregon State won the game, and UA didn't lose it. Oregon State made big plays when they had a lot to overcome - Kahut's missed extra point, being completely out of sync in the first half and letting some big plays go on defense.

Oregon State won the game, Arizona did not lose the game. I'm sorry you can't compliment the Beavers on winning a game (but this doesn't come as a surprise to me because I haven't seen you do it once in the last three years) but instead have to point out how Oregon State got the benefit of UA making a couple of mistakes (while not pointing out how OSU had to over come a lot to even be in a position to capitalize on mistakes).

But I guess such is to be expected from the majority of Duck fans on the Blazers boards all around the internet. Shit talk the Beavers then act like you aren't and it's really Beaver fans obsessed with comparing the two schools (even when it's Ducks fans always bringing it up while Beaver fans mind their own damned business).

Nice win for the Beavs. Didn't get a chance to watch most of the game, but looks like it was a good one.

Did Quizz get injured?! If so, that's a huge blow for the beavs :(

Also, it looks like if OSU wins, they'll play Penn State again in the Rose Bowl. How funny lol

Yeah Jacquizz took a blow in the first quarter to his left shoulder. Initially it was reported as a sprained left shoulder but allegedly it is being reported on some Portland news stations as a slightly separated shoulder.

Where to start, where to start...wow
I gave OSU their due, they won the game and Arizona did not lose it.
I am sorry if pointing out some mistakes by UA is taboo, genizus
I even said UA's mistakes were not the reason OSU won, just made a point that Stoops' teams suck (which I hope we can agree is true, that guy is a doucher)
Last time I checked this is an OSU/UO thread and no Ducks fans make threads on this board.
All I see after a OSU victory are 3 threads at the same time, so don't know where you got your argument there.
Also, where did I ever say OSU is always comparing themselves to Oregon

Hopefully he is back, I want both teams at 100%

Shoot, our starting quarterback was out and we lost the Pac 10's #1 RB. On the road. We had blown PAT in the last of the game. And we didn't crumble. That's character. Not the most beautiful win, but a W and it was the type of win that builds more character.
