How'd you handle it last year? Oh, thats right, you didnt have the balls to even show up.

I'm a lot of things. A glutton for punishment is not one of them. Like I said, losing last year sucked. I dealt with it by choosing to not get involved in the smack talk. I also didn't go in there and whine like a baby about the gloating from the Beavs.

Oh, and on a side note, when you throw out "didn't have the balls to show up" in reference to a thread on a message board, I'd start questioning the priorities in your life. Just a thought. You seem like a pretty stand-up dude, and I can appreciate that, but the cyber-bravado is lame. I enjoy posting on here, but I also don't let it define the full extent of my interactions with other people.

If I owed you money or lost a bet or something like that in relation to the game, and bitched out, that's one thing. But c'mon dude. It's a forum on a Web site. Let's keep things in perspective.

So -- let me get this straight. You are complaining about mobes asking you to show some class when the ducks win -- saying thicken the skin -- yet you admittedly avoid any contact with Beavers fans when the Ducks lose because you just can't take it. Am I missing the logic here?

yeah its a forum on a website. wheres that tough skin? or you couldnt take what your giving out now...........thick skin:crazy:

Looks like it will probably be Oregon vs. Missouri in the Holiday Bowl, which would be a juicy matchup. Oregon's spread running attack vs. Missouri's spread passing attack. Neither team with a very strong defense. First one to 60 wins.

The game will be decided after the first half? :drumroll:

Seems more like a statement than a complaint. :dunno:

That was a pretty gut-wrenching loss for me. To be fair, I also did not congratulate Laker fans in 2000 after the Lakers eliminated the Blazers from the Western Conference Finals. Classless, I know.

And I will continue to give credit where credit is due.

If you're expecting an apology out of me for talking trash after the Civil War, you're barking up the wrong tree. Maybe you should start the "win or lose with grace" conversation with the Beaver fans who threw batteries at the Ducks players two years ago. Or this guy with the orange doo-rag:

I wish I had video's of the guys in Albany when I was driving back from the Arizona game, and I had to get gas, Guys were cutting my car off and flipping us off. Normally I wouldnt get mad but I had the wife and my 2 younger 13 year old brothers in the car. The gas station attendants were friendly though lol. So by simple elimination... Gas Station Attendants>_______ :ghoti:

Great avatar.

So...what's the point of taking the high road in a rivalry game? You're supposed to rub it in. I've never heard of a rivalry where fans of opposing teams shake hands at the end of the game and say good game. Well, at least any rivalry worth a damn.

Are you going to shake the hand of a Lakers fan after the Blazers beat them countless times in the playoffs? I think not.

The Beaver fans are very sensitive right now. Not only was the first Rose Bowl in 44 years in their reach, but they also saw their team have a complete defensive meltdown in the biggest Civil War of their lives.

Projection is mostly what we are seeing right now. An outlet for the frustration of a huge loss, and SodaPop seems to be the poster receiving the brunt of it. I am receiving it on another board as well for some good-natured ribbing. The fact is that the post-game smack talk is no worse now than it was in 2000 on the ESPN boards, or after any Civil War for that matter. I watched last year's game from the 20th row, 49-yard line in the donor section, and many "donors" had obviously sold their tickets to Beaver fans. A few got kicked out from the "donor" section for berating elderly Duck fans. It was ridiculous.

I may be in the minority, but I think smack talk is lame, as in middle school lame. I'll let my team on the field/court do the talking for me.

Trying to flip it around again, huh? You call it whining, I call it standing up for my team and myself. I could've turned tail, gotten quiet and hid, but that's not my nature. For what it's worth, YES, I'M COMPLETELY BUMMED WE'RE NOT BOOKING TICKETS TO PASADENA RIGHT NOW. That doesn't mean I need to put up with being kicked while I'm down.

No doubts, both sides have been less than stellar. I was in the donor section this year and had to deal with dumbass Duck fans too (as hard as that may be to believe). Doesn't mean I'm going to repeat the crappy acting when the shoe's on the other foot.

It's kind of ironic considering where MAS and I began with all the OSU/UO talk, but I agree with him. Let the teams do the talking. The only gloss I'll add is that I think it's pathetic that some on the board got more pleasure out of trash talking OSU than they did enjoying their own team's win.

Why are you posting to me if you aren't doing exactly what you are calling SodaPop out for posting to Beaver fans?

Plus, you just threw in some smack about people enjoying smack more than the Blazers winning. Is that directed toward me?

Soda is like the drunk uncle that doesn't know when to stop and you just kinda feel sorry for him.

Really? I thought his posts were right in the spirit of the game? How is posting factual photos a bad thing? Unless seeing them makes you feel bad, of course.

Let the teams do the talking.

I AM over the top in the forum. In real life, I'm less so, but I still love talking trash with Duck fans.

I'll let the rest of your recent posts speak for themselves. You were all about talking trash when it was convenient for you. Then your team goes and lays and absolute egg and gets crushed and all of the sudden you are taking the high road and trying to character-assassinate Duck fans who are rubbing it in a little?

Give me a break.

Now go find me a quote where I'm actually being an ass -- that should be fun for you and I'll be interested to see what you find. Maybe I am in fact as much of a low rent idiot as you -- I'll be glad to admit it if I am. I suspect you'll only find trash talking before the fact and not so much rubbing it in after the game is over (win or lose.) Check both boards if you need more fodder.

Character assassination? Shoot, Pop, you did that yourself. All your talk about being tough and you're the one that hid last year. Team loses, you go off radar. Team wins, you squak. Nice and safe approach, but pure wussy stuff.

Nah, you weren't in my mind when I wrote that.

That may or may not be true, I'm not sure, but it sure doesn't give Beaver fans the high road for berating SodaPop, does it?

Somebody's bitter. Maybe you should have thought twice about purchasing those non-refundable tickets to Pasadena.

Your "low rent idiot" comment speaks volumes about you. Backed into a corner and you start spewing insults from the hip. To use your language, "Stay classy, mobes." Typical Beav. 45 years of frustration is coming to a head now, isn't it?

Not really. Frustration was 1971 to 1998. The last couple years have been a blast. As far as this season went, the Civil War was painful, but we DID lose our front seven on defense and still ended up in 2nd place in the Pac 10. All things considered, not a bad year.

Squawk, squawk, squawk, Pop. I got less a whole lot classy after dealing with your crap. I don't like it, but I also don't get pushed around by squirrely dudes who snipe when times are good and hide when times are bad.

Stay classy, Corvallis

Civil War crowd turned unruly
By KYLE ODEGARD
Gazette-Times reporter
Eighty-seven people kicked out of Saturday’s game

A record 46,319 people attended Saturday’s Civil War game at Reser Stadium between Oregon State University and the University of Oregon.

Eighty-seven of them were kicked out, and that’s an unusually high number as well, police said.

The frustrating game for OSU fans turned some into poor sports, said Lt. Jeff Lanz, station commander for Oregon State Police at OSU.

The game was dominated by the Ducks almost from the start of their 112th meeting, and the final score was 65-38.

Thirteen people were booted out for disorderly conduct, which is far more than usual, Lanz said. Six people were ejected for fighting — almost unheard of at OSU games.

“With the way the game progressed on the field, it contributed to the emotional instability of our fans, who acted out their frustrations,” Lanz said.

“I think emotions were really high with the Rose Bowl being on the line for the Beavers.”

Lanz believed that the number of ejections was the highest for a Beaver game since at least 2005.

As usual, the majority of people kicked out violated the stadium conduct code regarding alcohol.

More than 50 people brought alcoholic beverages into the stands or were minors in possession of alcohol by consumption.

One notable incident was when Ashley Sears, 19, an OSU student, threw white paint on several members of the UO band minutes before halftime, according to Oregon State Police logs.

Sears, who had a blood-alcohol-content of nearly .08 percent, was cited for second-degree disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Another odd ejection came when a 39-year-old woman was asked to leave because of “indecent exposure.”

Of those excluded, 20 were OSU students.

Most people kicked out of the game weren’t cited, Lanz said.

A photographer who works for the Statesman Journal newspaper in Salem reported the theft of a $9,000 camera that he’d left unattended on the Ducks sideline.

“I want to thank the vast majority of fans for coming to the game and doing it the right way,” Lanz said.

So bad conduct of others means you're free to do whatever you want? Right.

Like I've said before, we could easily turn this thread into a list of lame conduct of fans of both teams.

These gloating duck fans are probably the same fans that were boo-ing Masoli at home 3 weeks ago. Fairweather duck fans who boo their own players.

I hate to say it (because we'll be seeing him for awhile), but I thought Masoli looked great -- very few posts about that. His o-line helped to make him look good too.

I agree with you -- see my comment a few pages ago.

The entire Duck offense looked great.

Yeah Masoli has the makings of something special. I think he can be as good as, if not better than Dixon in the next two years. He's the same type of player but also has a lot of toughness and seems to be much less injury prone than Dixon. Can't wait to see how he does in a Bowl game. Now if only his defensive secondary would give him a little help. :dunno:

Also, all this smack talk about Soda not showing up for last year's CW is fine and all, but I don't understand one thing: How is that argument valid when his join date is a few months ago? In fact, almost all of you joined a few months ago...now I'm a newbie here too, so did you all migrate here from a different forum or is there a bug in the forums or....?
