YahooSportsNBA Y's Marc Spears reports Rajon Rondo and Celts can't make deal and PG will become restricted free agent in summer: http://tinyurl.com/yk8paw4

The guy averaged 17/10/10 in the Playoffs, why would the Celts not want to sign him to a big extension?

He's at least worth what LMA got. Come on, Danny!

I hope this summer KP explores sign-and-trade deals for Rondo. We could use a good, young PG like him.

They won't sign him to a big extension because this core is only going to be competitive for 2-3 more seasons and Rondo is not worth the money right now for a long-term commitment with no window open.

Time to talk trade. Bayless/Rudy/Webster/Outlaw for Rondo. Portland gets the final piece to the puzzle, Boston gets a jump start on their rebuilding after the Garnett/Pierce/Allen era, while still being able to compete for a title.

No, I don't think it'll ever happen. But man...this would be essentially the perfect consolidation trade. Portland would get a young point guard who plays great defense, rebounds the ball extremely well and is a great passer. If the team waited until midseason, they could include Miller in the deal. Boston could definitely contend for the title with Miller/Pierce/Allen/Garnett and still have Bayless, Rudy, Webster and Outlaw as younger pieces...who could all contribute for Boston off the bench.

oh man, Rudy in Boston, he'd be the new Danny Ainge!

That's quite a bit to give up, but I think I would have to do it if given the choice. Rondo would fit in well with our team. He's the right age to grow with our young core, a very good defender and can dish the ball. Bayless will probably never be a PG, Rudy will eventually want out, and Webster and Outlaw aren't major pieces, so though I like our guys, Rondo would just be perfect for us.
