OT: Russell Westbrook knee surgery

Absolutely. Standard practice to go for the ball when the guy is going for the timeout.

When was the last time you saw a guy steal the ball after the other player had already called timeout? Hell, I can't remember it working even before the guard calls timeout.

usually doesn't happen at all, but it's still pretty standard that guys reach in for it.

I understand that, but typically you don't run into the guy, either. It should have been a foul. I'm certainly not an OKC fan, but if Beverley had done that to Lillard and injured him after Lillard called for a timeout, I doubt many people here would have the same reaction. Most of us here don't like the Thunder, but I'm trying to look at it objectively. I'd be livid to lose Lillard on that type of bush league contact.

I'd be bummed if Lillard got hurt, sure. I don't see how it's bush league. He went for a steal, in a situation guys do ALL the time. Westbrook went to spin away, and it was a freak accident. Hardly bush league.

We disagree. I think the contact makes it bush league, and also how Beverley just ran to his bench. He wasn't looking for a steal, he was looking to make a statement.

Anyhow, the playoffs have been mostly dull, so this makes Game 3 the playoff game I've been the most excited about. I wonder what Perkins is going to do to Beverley? There will be some sort of retaliation.

Never. I've never seen it happen. But I see guys lunge for the ball in that situation all the time, pointless as it may be.

I would add though, that it was pretty fun to see Andre Miller act like he was going to go for the timeout, and as the defense relaxed, blow by the guy for the score the few times he did that when he was a Blazer. Coaches tell you from pee-wee league, keep playing until you hear the whistle and the ref officially stops play. It was an accident. Nothing dirty about it.

Did he come out after that play or kept playing?

Sent from HCPs Baller-Ass iPhone 5...FAMS!
He kept playing. As for Beverly, it's called playing the whistle. It's what you're supposed to do.

As for the series, the door is open for Houston who almost won game 2. Sixers beat Bulls after Rose went down. I like Rockets in 6 now.

Yep. Which is why a foul should have been called.

Been watching the Clipper Memphis series? Zach and Blake are going to throw down before that series is over.

Yeah, that series is fun to watch. Chris Paul may punch Tony Allen before it's over, too.

Sounds like they went the different route from BRoy. Smart decision.

Westbrook will miss the remainder of the 2013 NBA playoffs.

“Although we are of course disappointed that Russell will be unable to return to the floor with his teammates this season, the opportunity to repair the meniscus as opposed to remove it was the best possible scenario for Russell's long term health as a player and person,” Sam Presti said in a statement. “Russell's health and well being are obviously our number one priority through this process and today's procedure helped solidify our belief that Russell will have many productive years of basketball in his future.”

Man the west is wide open, sucks that David Lee went down.

I think it depends on the size of the tear and how often it has happened before.

Have they scheduled his microfracture surgery yet?

Spurs vs Heat seems like a lock at this point.

It sounds like repair takes a lot longer to recover from than removal, so most people opt for the quick fix? How long until the removal becomes known as Brandon Roy Surgery, i.e. Tommy John Surgery?

Durant is on a mission, and it's not like he's getting a bunch of assists. San Antonio is still going to beat them, though, because of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli.

I wonder if Paul Allen is watching Kevin Durant play?:sigh:

Westbrook tried to steal a ball when Lin was calling a timeout, it just seems like a freak injury. The contact didn't look that bad, Wade gets hurt on stuff that doesn't seem that serious as well.

I guess it is a corny play but nothing malicious I thought.
Excuse me for never having sympathy for another teams injury woo's ever again. Worst part about it though is that Miami will have another cake walk to the championship thanks to an injury on their biggest competition's star player. Some teams have all the luck, at least this year the Lakers are not one of them.

Well that's not true, Wade is better than Westbrook and he could be out and injured for a while. Bosh was out last year. ;]

They also didn't have to trade Harden.
