Our Frontcourt......

I agree, that we need to consolidate our frontcourt. I was looking at minutes distribution today and one or more are going to really have a CUT in minutes for this year compared to last.

Plumlee 24
Ezeli 20
Leonard 4?? Big drop

Aminu 32
Davis 16 small drop
Vonleh 0 BIG drop

It's hard to trade Leonard and Ezeli until December. It's also hard to trade Plumlee because of his being on a rookie contract and his ACTUAL worth being higher than his contract. Which leaves our FORWARDS. Who could be combined and what player would you expect to get back??? What could Plumlee and Davis bring back??
It would have to be a seller team, not a buyer. Or a team looking to add quality players to its roster (Nets, 76ers, Kings, etc.).

I'm leaning right now for Leonard to start at PF, and Ezeli at C. What could we get for Aminu, Plumlee, Davis?? Lopez from BKN? Boogie from SAC? Okafor from 76ers?

I think Ed Davis is the odd man out. I think Vonleh can do a lot of the things Ed does but has more to offer.
he may may have more to offer in a few yrs, Ed is easily better now, however Ed is valuable in a consolidation trade and I could see him being moved if the right deal came along

if we traded for a good vet PF with a significant contract then IMO both Aminu and Davis could be moved, however there just aren't that many guys who fit the bill then it narrows even more on guys who might be available

It's been so long since we've had this deep a front court..... Let's wait a while for a trade. Let me enjoy it!"
I doubt you'll see anything until the trade deadline. Leonard is out and will take time to round back into shape anyway; and Vonleh needs to woodshed in practice until February before he sees much time.

ML can not play the 4 on defense they already experiment with that last year.

Agree and disagree. Vonleh LOOKS better in many respects - has a more polished offensive game and is heavier and thus harder to push around in the paint...

But Ed just helps the team so much more. Davis was among our leaders in +/- last year, while Vonleh seemed to hold us back, as evidenced by the fact that the team got a lot better after we stopped giving him minutes.

The problem we have is that we have several players whom, conventional wisdom would say, can't be played together because they can't shoot, specifically Plumlee, Davis and Ezeli. But the sad thing is, the two players who CAN shoot (Leonard and Vonleh) just don't seem to work well with the team. (Leonard actually has his moments, though - he can defend in the post fairly well and if he's given LOTS of time, his 3 point shooting can be a game-changer.)

Ideally we could package 2 or 3 of our bigs for a Millsap/Green type (i.e., good all-round) but those are hard to come by.

Anyone bothered enough to get stats for our best lineups? I'm curious if Leonard/Davis made a good combination (switching roles on offense and defense).

What's to enjoy? I mean, Golden State weren't exactly deep last year (particularly in the frontcourt) but it didn't have me switching channels because I don't care who's sitting on the bench.

In theory, we have some nice options. Each guy offers a unique skillset.

Plumlee - passing

Leonard - shooting

Ezeli - rim protection

Davis - efficient post scoring and rebounding

Vonleh - defense

If we could hold onto them all and use them situationally, that would be great, but there's simply not enough minutes to go around, so which ones do you place the highest value on?

I like Davis because he'd be a good starter, but he's even better getting to go against 2nd units. He really brings great energy to the team while in the game. Seems like a classy fellow, too.

I've been a fan for quite a while, even before he signed with us. It's a brilliant signing, IMO.

last year everyone wanted another big this year we got 1 and cut 1 and we have too many?

We only cut Cliff and Kaman who didn't play. We basically added 2 rotational big men as Aminu will be slid over to the 4 and we added Ezeli. We will also get Leonard back who we didn't have for half of the year last year. So that's adding 2 or 3 players to the frontcourt rotation depending on how you look at it.

Rather have 1 Jimi Hendrix than 5 Dave Navarro's

Just sayin

Wow, thats underating Dave Navarro quite a bit.

Jimi was Jimi, there's no doubt, but you ever watch live clips? He was sloppy as hell(Like Many of the classic rock musicians, like LedZeP)

Jimi, far more creative for sure, but Dave is a top ten Guitar player in RocknRoll. The Albulm he joined up with RHCP is way underrated in my book. "One Hot Minute"

Both Janes Addictions' "Nothing Shocking" and "Ritual De Lo Habitual" are classics.

Oh boy. Let's move this back to basketball before I beat my head into a wall

If you think Dave Navarro is a top 10 rock guitarist then I don't want to hear it.....EVER

Lol,

Not saying he was the most technically talented, but yes. Look at what all he has done, the different styles and he is up there, but I wold like to change that to top 20.

Stevie Ray Vaughn
Van Halen
Randy Rhodes
Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Page
Keith Richards
Slash
BB King
Jeff Beck
Tony Iomi
Steve Vai
Santana
Townsend
Satriani
Les Paul
Dave Navarro
George Harrison
etc.

Thats how I would list them in aprox order without thinking much about it.

I think Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, Frank Zappa, Johnny Ramone, Alex Lifeson, David Gilmour, Chet Atkins,Duane Allman, Lindsey Buckingham, Robert Fripp, Jerry Garcia, Chuck Berry, Eric Johnson, Joe Walsh Brian May, Mark Knophler, Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Satriani, Les Paul, Dick Dale, Gary Hoey, Billy GibbonsNeil Young, hell, even Prince and Brian Setzer Are all EASILY better than Navarro. And I am sure I am missing someone obvious.

I forgot about Alex Lifeson. Top ten for sure. Buckingham? MMM 20-30. Jerry Garcia... too one dimensional, though great at what he did.

No way Prince and Young are better though...* WARNING opinions may very* ;)

Frampton is another guy.

Wait, Glen fucking Campbell was brilliant on pet sounds, so him too

I think Navarro would agree with you...

Joe Pass, Tal Farlow, Wes Montgomery, Andre Segovia, Jim Hall, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Freddie King, Albert King, Rory Gallagher, Martin Barre, Paco de Lucia, Jeff Beck, Jimmie Page, Buddy Guy, Eddie Hazel, Stephen Stills, Dave Mason, Walter Becker, Skunk Baxter, Gary Moore, Tom Johnson...man this could turn out to be a book
