Because everybody is at least a little Liberal or a little Conservative. Just pick the one that best fills your requirements.
Most people want two parties. We live in a democratic society. Put the two together.

Truman did a good job desegregating the armed forces.

And Eisenhower worked at desegregating public schools.

FDR had his hands full with the Depression and then WWII, not to mention social security.

Good grief, even JFK was slow to get Civil Rights laws passed. It took the urging of MLK and Bobby Kennedy to light a fire under his ass.

Make no mistake about it, I consider defacto segregation to be our no. 1 priority. To get a feel for how important it is, put yourself in someone else' shoes then it becomes a fight for yourself.

I'm talking about the general tone. That's what you need to go on because we live in a democratic society where you generally have to go along with the majority, provided of course you follow the Constitution and the law.

You're never gonna get everyone to go along with all your beliefs. You can only pick the most viable candidate who best reflects your beliefs. There are just too many instances where a third party candidate will not be viable and will ruin it for your second choice. I give you Ross Perot, Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush also George Wallace, Richard Nixon and Hubert Humphrey.
