I just want it on the record that I have not made one joke about Beaver fans having sex with sheep since this all started.
That is because you get jealous. Picture of you from your orgy last weekend.

Of course I know Beavers fans that would root against everything Oregon.

Just like a Ducks fan in this very thread that went all Laker to Blazer fan like about the Beavers never being a rival to the Ducks.

I do know a lot of Duck fans who consider OSU to be their second favorite team. It's not that uncommon. I also don't understand why that would frustrate OSU fans. Who cares if some Duck fans don't consider OSU to be their rival? It doesn't change anything.

I root for both teams. I lean slightly more Ducks, but if the game meant more for the Beavers than Ducks, I root Beavers. Always enjoyed Beaver baseball more, though.

I know other people who say this. That line of thinking is very difficult for me to comprehend, but I'm a sicko.

It also sounds like you lean towards simply being a band-wagon fan!

I root for Ducks, then Beavers, then PAC.

At least, historically... I'll never root for USC or UCLA again. In the past I've supported them when they've played out of conference.

Never again.

Laker fans do the same thing to Blazer fans sometimes.

How many Civil War games have you been to?

Why not? They did what was best for them.

I root for both teams, whether they’re good or bad. Ducks first. But come Civil War, if the Beavs had a chance at the CFP on the line and Ducks did not, I’d roots Beavs. I root for my home state being sixth-gen Oregonian. And Ducks didn’t have a baseball program until they got jealous of the Beavs’ success under Pat Casey (growing up a baseball fan, had to root for a local team and they were consistently talented and well-coached, easy to like, etc.).

I'm a Duck.

Grew up loving Ralph Miller hoops.

One of my good friends was QB1 for the Beavers.

It's difficult.

1. Ducks
2. Beavers when they aren't playing the Ducks.
3. Pac-Whatever
4. Your mom.

Why not? They did what was best for them.
They didn't need to prevent the PAC from expanding while they were planning their exit.

I supported them because I thought they were a part of the PAC. But they were actively sabotaging the PAC.

They never deserved my support. I should have never supported them. What possible reason would I ever have for supporting schools who actively undermined the PAC?

Nah. Fuck 'em. I hope they lose every game in every sport from now on. There isn't a school I can think of that I'd want them to beat.

I know, I should have used green font.

Then why did their board of regents meet the night before and every bit of reporting said that Arizona was gone?

You guys so desperately want to blame UO for this, when they were basically the 5th school to leave.

Every single timeline I've read said the AZ schools and Utah weren't leaving until Oregon and Washington decided to join B12. As of Thursday night the schools were staying together. Yes those three had spoken to the B12 and Arizona was strongly considering it, but they weren't leaving without ASU and the Sun Devils didn't want to leave the P12. Once oregon and washington bolted, then those three did as well. I have yet to see any reporting on the matter to the contrary. Them the facts that have been reported, whether you or phatguy want to believe them or not.

Teams have no control over how fast the conference accepts them.

AZ was gone as soon as the PAC was getting less. AZ had said as much publicly.

In a move that has felt almost inevitable in recent days, the UA finalized its departure from the Pac-12 — the conference it has called home since 1978 — Friday evening.

Stability has been a sticking point for Pac-12 campus leaders, as UA President Robert C. Robbins said multiple times this year that the figures presented by the conference for its next media-rights deal would dictate whether the UA stayed or sought something more lucrative. Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff finally showed his cards this week, revealing a streaming-centric deal with Apple that fell well short of the $31.7 million that Arizona can receive annually from the Big 12. The latter agreement is with ESPN and FOX, providing greater exposure than any streaming outlet could generate.

It was known AZ was gone well before Friday's meeting. They had made it clear they were going with whichever conference paid them more.

And I don't blame them. The PAC has been a mess.

But the fact that AZ was leaving means AS and Utah would go as well. They had the out and the cover to do so, andcollect thatadditional money .

Ducks couldn't stand around and let the B1G make a deal with somebody else, leaving them out in the cold.

Wow. Mrs. HCP didn't make the list.

I'm guessing most Laker fans don't consider the Blazers their main rivals and it doesn't bother me one bit. Shoudl it?

I don't know, probably 12-15. 4-5 at Reeser. Sat directly next to Beaver fans at about half those games. Have had a mixed experience as would be expected in life.

I was just flicking you crap. You root however you want to root!

I haven't seen the AZ stuff reported anywhere that they were leaving before washington and oregon, would love to see a link that says that because everything else has been the other way around, including the link I provided from the Tucson newspaper.

I don't blame the schools for leaving, it's shitty and the attitude by duck and husky fans, while entirely expected, has been pretty shitty including many on this thread. There is a lot of blame to go around but in the end it's just a sad day in sports for many of us.

From your link:
UA President Robert C. Robbins said multiple times this year that the figures presented by the conference for its next media-rights deal would dictate whether the UA stayed or sought something more lucrative.
The figure presented was around half to 2/3 what the Big12 gets.

The 4 corner schools have been reported to be as good as gone for literally months. It was just a matter of waiting for the PAC to propose the media rights deal to the Presidents. AZ's AD had said so, multiple times. The ONLY thing stopping that would have been getting as much money as the Big12.

They weren't reported good as gone, they were reported to be looking into the B12, but not leaving. Again, you have yet to provide anything saying they were gone while all the other reporting is going against you, but keep dying on this hill. O/W jumped at the B10 and then the AZ/Utah schools followed, it's not the other way around, no matter how much you might want it to be true.

apparently, the UofO and UofW were the glue holding the destruction-derby-Pac-9 together and they should have been willing to sink on the Pac-12 ship because misery loves company

it was widely publicized, for months, that the remaining Pac-9 administrations were rather adamant that the media deal could not be a streaming-only deal; that it HAD TO CONTAIN a linear TV contract. UofO's president and the AD, Rob Mullens were fairly outspoken on this. So was Arizona's president; so was Washington's. As Phat pointed out, Arizona said several times they were going to the conference with the best media deal

when Kliavkoff made his pitch on Wednesday he talked about the Apple deal; about a base of 23M/year per school. AND, he talked about having several potential linear TV partners willing to sign a deal as an adjunct to Apple's.

but in the put-up-or-shut-up meeting on Friday morning, Kilavkoff's deadline for actually presenting formal contracts, he had no linear TV component because Apple was not willing to share any content. And, the schools got a look at the actual subscription thresholds for escalating payouts and saw they were ridiculous and that it meant even the 23M/year base was not guaranteed. But worst of all was a clause inserted by Apple that the conference was responsible for all productions costs, and that would deduct at least 5M/year from each school's payout. Meaning that the actual payout could be in the 16-18M/year range....for streaming only with no linear TV

this media deal was DOA for several of the schools...the ones that left. And the rumor is that sometime late Wednesday or Thursday, FOX saw the opportunity and added 60-70M/year to the Big-10's media deal so the Big-10 could add Oregon/Washington without diluting any 'existing' member's shares. That's what the Big-10 meeting was about and it's why the Big-10 had a unanimous yes vote. And, that deal had actually been simmering for a week or two before it went down

there was not one single event that killed the PAC. It was a series of fuck-ups over an 11 year period coupled with USC subtly and actively working to damage the conference and lock up southern California recruiting for themselves. Obviously, it seems to make a lot of beaver fans feel better if they can blame it on Oregon, but that's just nuts
