Papa G sent these same PMs to myself and some of the other mods last night. I didn't realize he also had sent them to Further also.
I'm not against giving back him back his old moniker. Just not at this time. He was banned for one reason and one reason only, personal insults. In reading his PMs I just don't think he understands that.
I'm reading excuses out of him, Nate did this, Further said that, drunken rampage, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Then he makes demands that I'm suppose to warn all of you that you're not suppose to bring up the past to him. I read that and my first question is after I warn everyone of that and they do bring up the past then what? Does that mean it's ok for PapaG start insulting people again?
Next he comes up with the idea that we should have a slam PapaG thread. WTF?!? He was banned for refusing to stop with the personal insults and his solution is to start a thread that personally insults him?!?
I'm not trying to bash him. I like him and we've gotten along for the most part. I have no problem sometime in the future going to bat for him to reinstate his PapaG moniker. Because that's what this is really about, reinstatement of a moniker. If we were really banning him he wouldn't be able to PM us. We'd just ban whatever new moniker he created.
PapaG, I know you'll read this. If you want your old PapaG moniker back then I suggest you leave all of the excuses behind and just move forward. Post in the Blazer section under your new moniker. Talk Blazers and basketball. If after 50, 100, 200 posts you show that you can post without personally insulting people you disagree with then I'm fine with giving you your moniker back.

Whoops! Didn't mean that. I learnt me lesson, sir. I can realize that some posters will be given leeway that others won't, so PapaG will tame down to the lowest common denominator. I certainly won't challenge any left-wing idiotic posts that I see. I'll leave that to maxiep, who has produced many more personal insults than I have in the OT section. Plus, he owns them, which is ballsy and fantastic!

I've said this before but it's worth repeating, I don't have time to read through every post in every thread. I miss things. If a personal insult is missed it does not mean that I am playing favorites with that person or with what they're saying. It just means that it was missed. I have edited posts by Denny, Nate and Julius (S2 Staff) by Further and Crandc (bleeding heart liberals) and by Marazul, DeLincoln, Mags and BlazingGiants (Good, god fearing patriotic Americans). So I'm not really sure which posters or groups of posters you think I'm giving leeway to. If you or anyone truly think that I am please contact me via PM and bring up your concerns. I'm happy to talk with you about them. This also applies to personal attacks, if you see something that has been missed please get a hold of me.
But more importantly by you bringing up that you've been called an asshole only go to support what I'm saying? No one likes being insulted on here. Clearly you don't otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up.

I'm not asking you to do that. Actually I'm asking you to kick your game up a few notches and not insult people. There are a few on here that is taking the "attack the post and not the poster" as a real challenge, making a joke out of it to see how far they can push it. "This post is a corn dog of bat shit shoved inside of a dead kitten. Sly, can I say that? I'm not attacking the person who said it."

No, for the most part Maxiep does not insult people he disagrees with. He just does a really good job of attacking people's opinions that he disagrees with. He'll let you know why he thinks what you said is stupid and then tells you why what he thinks is right. And yes, it's ballsy, fantastic and sometimes he owns people.
Now, I've taken the time to carefully explain all of this to you but having to once again take this time is the reason why I think you're just not getting it. You're a great guy, sounds like you're a fantastic husband and father, you're very intelligent. There is no reason for you to be personally insulting people on here. It doesn't matter if people have insulted you and gotten away with it, it doesn't matter if people are insulting others and it has been missed. Those are excuses or justifications.
