I think a PM is like a valentine, or private lessons or something. It's like a love bug embedded behind your ear, whispering sweet nothings. I never initiate any. I respond to a couple per year to deflect my admirers and thwart their advances.

Sly, check mine and back me up on that.

This is true, jlprk only uses PMs as a way to flirt with men.

Everyone is complaining about PapaG's posting style. My read on his style was he pointed out absurdity with absurdity. He would get under people's skin by using language that was a mirror image of the language/political correctness that was being defended. Many didn't like it. As for me, it made me laugh.

I hope the banning is reversed.
 
Wow! I finally reach the last post of this thread!

Not being able to read what was posted originally makes it hard to make a judgment, but the mods are pretty good here so I trust their judgment.

He would personally attack me regularly, and I mean that by the very definition of the term. He would attack my personal life. I've never done that to him, so how is that using a "mirror image" to my posting style? He would make comments about my fiancee, he would make comments about my career, he would make comments about anything he felt like he could use against me. Sorry Max, but this is not someone using political beliefs or opinions about the team, but a poster who would hold onto grudges, create threads to start drama, and go after someone's family just to get under their skin.

He had his moments of cleverness. But he was also very offensive and did so simply to be such.

I think the ban was warranted and he has lost his ability to ever return.
 
Remember when Papa left, came back under his new name, and a few of us recognized it, called him on it for months, and he continued to deny it before finally coming out?

Yeah, that was fun.

I didn't have beef with Papa, and I hate seeing people perma-banned, buy I trust the judgment of our mods (unless SPD made the decision - I kid I kid).

Personally, instead of banning I'd be in favor of a penalty box. I don't know if the software would support it, but if someone continues to break the rules after a warning, restrict them to only being able to post in a time out room for a certain period. Anybody who wants to chat with them there or listen to their rants would be welcome to do so, while the rest of the board would be off limits until the penalty period was served.
 
Let us have him complete a series of tasks to retuen. Most involve inserting objects inside of him.

I had a lot of petty beefs with PapaG over the years, but I get over those.

The moment I thought he was complete scum was when he mocked me for being sick and in the hospital. He obviously lived in a glass house as he went berserk after Barfo and the whole lupus incident.

There's so many times that guy had meltdowns against other members that I can't even keep track anymore.
 
Please, enough of this. This thread was started to explain what the mods did and why they did it. Moderation of a forum may not be popular but it should always be open, transparent and honest. This thread was not started so people could complain about current and past members.

I love it! It also takes some of the pressure off of moderating. It would also be an interesting experiment in seeing who could be the Hansen Brothers/76 Flyers of S2. Make it happen, Denny!
 
you can do that...another forum I used to frequent had a "gitmo" section where a poster couldn't see any other section and could only post in the gitmo section
 
I've suggested a cage match forum in the past. No rules at all. The idea wasn't popular at all.

As long as you also institute a quiet room forum where rules of decorum are held to more strictly, I'd be for it.
 
I have probably received 3 or 4 PMs from mods telling me to chill and not call people names or make fun of them so much.

Then I forward them to Denny (who if you didn't know, pays me to post here) and he said, " fuck those mods for even questioning you. You are the forum MVP and you run this bitch!"

So you see why I don't take PMs from nerd mods seriously!
