Pat Connaughton

Don't forget our guy Will Barton.

If this is more than just a flash in the pan for Patty, then that's 3 straight second rounders that Neil hit in consecutive drafts.

Actually, I did forget about The People's Champ, because he had his breakthrough season elsewhere. He was a guy who absolutely fought the system his first two years in the league. He was always trying to do way too much. It resulted in some spectacular plays, but also a hell of a lot of unforced turnovers. It wasn't until he settled down and started playing under control, that he became a valuable and consistent rotation player. That was the end of his third year after the trade to DEN, but he didn't really break out until his 4th season in DEN when he became their 6th man.

He was also drafted younger than Crabbe, Connaughton and Layman. So, his career arc doesn't perfectly mirror the first two, but it's still very, very close.

But, you are spot on, Neil nailed a second round pick three years in a row. So, I amend my comment about Layman to read: "Here's hoping Jake will make it four for four."

I think he nailed the two first round picks this year, too.

Yeah, we didn't have a 2nd round pick this year. So, Biggie at 26 was our steal this year. Hopefully, Collins will be this year's version of Dame and C.J., a lottery pick that exceeds expectations and draft position.

It feels good to be right about a player for once. Yay me. I still call him Jesse Pinkman in my head every time I see him.

Since he wears #5 we could give him the Chris Paul/Paul George treatment and call him PC5. It makes him sound like a superstar.

Or, we could use his last name, and number to come up with something ......... How about calling him DEFCON 5? It sounds cool, even though DEFCON 5 is the least severe warning under the system. In that way it kind of makes sense.

Ok, since Patty looks like Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad, how about calling him Chili P?

If we didn't give nicknames to every player it would be so much easier to come up with nicknames for players who deserve them.

You don't think a 24ppg scorer deserves a nickname?

You want me to ask him what his nickname has been in the past, or do we want to give him one?

YAAAAASSSS!

Just don't say it around Tuco (HCP). He hates chili p.

Not to derail the thread... but my favorite line from tuco that hit home really well with his delivery was when he was in the kitchen at his house and he's cooking that steak and he goes "NO ONE TURNS THEIR BACK ON THEIR FAMILY"

It's a simple line, but holy shit. I loved tuco. Too bad Raymond Cruz got that part on another show... and he also said Tuco was just a bit too intense for him. lol. No doubt, but man he was really good as him.

Fuck me, I want to watch Breaking Bad again. lol it'd be the fifth time.
I'm a huge fan of that show. I was able to get my hands on a full length feature film these super fans created. It's all footage from the shows, but its a movie. Haven't watched it yet, but heard it's great...... I believe it's all in order as well.

I think I heard of this..... is there a link floating around with it?

I'm re-watching it right now. Probably why I thought of Chili P. It's better every time.

Jesse's character arc in that show is one of the best... nay, the best I've ever seen in cinema. And the dude never took acting classes. His moment-to-moment acting is unreal.

Oh look at me I can talk to Blazers players

Can't you stop fucking bragging one day in your life ?

Also makes sense as he's the icier sequel to Cool Breeze.

That was a great nickname for Crabbe. Fit with his initials as well as his chill demeanor.

Now that Vonleh have gotten a contract. Pat Connaughton is the only player that we had let go last season whom have not latched onto another team yet. Will he get another chance as a NBA player or you think he is finished?

Finished. He could go G league or foreign league, but not NBA.

Or MLB, of course. If I were he, I'd be working on my pitching over the summer.

I BET HE ENDS UP PLAYING BASEBALL. BUT YOUR GUESS IS AS GOOD AS MINE!

What does that say about our bench last year? He was a rotational player playing 18 minute a game. You telling me we have been playing a NON-NBA caliber player 18 minute a game last year and was still the 3rd best team in the West!?!?

I thought Pat did a good job last season. Due almost entirely to intelligence and hustle. Pat saved our bacon late in games on multiple occasions. It's just that with all the athletes out there trying to claw their way onto an NBA roster, I don't anticipate another NBA team using a spot on him. If he were an unconscious three point shooter, then yeah. But he had a mediocre year in that regard, so nah.
