Phil knight offers to buy blazers

I have no doubt the Vulcans were going to reject any $2 billion offer. They want $3 billion. As they should... that's their job, and they have no reason to be in a rush. As long as the deal is complete by the deadline in the trust, for the maximum amount of benefit to the trust they have done their job.

Phil will give them 3B. Nba teams jump in value like crazy. So it doesn’t even matter if it’s 3B next year it’ll be worth 3.5B then 10 years from now maybe 10B

As an elephant, I am. Loquaciously pro-assault, egocentric, and now apparently pro-chomo? What's there not to obsess on? I mean, come on.
Lol you are hilarious. I stated human trafficking is a horrible thing that I am 100% against.

What I'm not for is using pictures of someone and calling them guiltt by association right off the bat. Could Jobs be a horrible person? Absolutely. Could Jobs be involved? Sure. Do we know with 100% certainty and has she been charged with anything? No. And as I said, Silver would do due diligence and decide if it was a good fit. The NBA does not want to be involved with anything like that. If there is enough evidence there for Silver to not bring her in as an owner, great. I don't give a fuck.

I warn against anyone citing me agreeing with them as proof they've made a good point
She could be involved and the worst person in the world. I don't know her. I'm just not going to condemn someone with all these "connecting the dots conspiracies." If she is involved she can go to hell. Pictures don't make me immediately call someone guilty when they are just sitting or standing there.

You hang with chomos? Innocent until proven guilty chomos? Doesn’t surprise me.

Not that I know of. If I did I wouldn't hang out with them if I knew.

Do you still support Dame? Because he also said sometimes people need to get smacked for what they say. If you do, guess you're a hypocrite. Doesn't surprise me.

I don't spend time digging in or obsessing with celebrity crime cases mainly because I don't feel like dedicating the time it would take to come up with an informed opinion. Repeating what is said in the media or reading a few pages of a police report would probably make me more ignorant than knowing nothing at all. If I had people I trusted involved in both sides of the cases sharing their opinion, then maybe I would listen to a third party, but I don't know anyone releated to the case either. I'm not comfortable jumping to the conclusions you appears to have high confidence in.

Back to my general point: I personally don't love the guilt by association theory for a lot of reasons and I find it amusing that it is so popular depsite people never wanting it applied to them. I know I'm in the minority on this and you are certainly more of the norm, which is why media/tabloids are such big business.

Regardless, I appreciate the civil sharing of opposite opinions, even though we don't agree. That's cool in my book!

Again, this isn't Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. This is an international child trafficking and blackmail case. This isn't a series of random dots to me the way it is to you. I also appreciate you saying how smart, handsome and good of a person I am since this is how I'm interpreting your response. ;)

This isn't something we need to go into further in this forum/thread. The problem with trafficking and blackmail of politicians and other powerful people is a huge, huge issue and not one that you can explain in a few paragraphs. It's one of the darkest nastiest things on Earth and ties into intelligence entrapment operations and all kinds of nastiness. There is a reason that not one person in that black book has been investigated, let alone charged and it's something that should chill everyone to the bone. Guilt by association is very often wrong, but in this case it's enough to warrant an investigation. Believe me, I'm all for Constitutional Rights and due process, but this is a sports opinion forum and we are judge jury and executioner all the time about players and their attitudes etc. like we know them personally. This is wholly different than if Simmons has his head on right or, if various owners are good stewards. This is a woman who is closely associated with one of the worst people in this country and I do not want her anywhere near my sports franchise. Period.

Yeah bro how many folks you know are friends with the well-known procurer of a convicted Pedophile? She was friends with Ghisaline for years and years you think she didn't know? Come on! We do NOT want her near this team she's hella bad news plus the Atlantic wrote a "Pedophile Sex trafficking is overblown" cover during Ghisaline trial which non-coincidentally Laurene owns. 2+2 =4.

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazin...n-sex-trafficking-conspiracy-epidemic/620845/

Are you seriously equating anti-QAnon with being pro pedo?

This hypocritical smugfuckery is what gets under my skin.

“Support” Dame like cheer for the Blazers? Yes.

“Support” Dame like think he’s a pillar of society or something? He’s no Chauncey, but still, not so much. I know too much about him. He says plenty of idiotic things.

Oh ok. So it is fine to root for someone that is PRO assault when you say it is ok in your mind then.

Got it.

There's a subtly to language, it's true, and since English is clearly not your first language, you deserve a pass.

Allow me to rephrase: I support the team. I do not root for Chauncey and I do not root for Dame. Although obliquely I suppose I must if I'm wanting us to win. It's complicated. Much like, but on a much, much larger scale, being an American in this polarizing time.

As for the OP topic. Let's get this franchise out of the hands of yet another "never proven guilty" sexual predator and not into another.

Feels like Phil Knight could lift the gloom from this franchise...

How do you not root for Dame?

Let's get back on the rails here.

Gladly, my apologies.

Although, it is unfortunately rather on topic. Even Paul Allen himself has been linked to Maxwell (and obviously Melinda Gates felt that guilt by association was powerful enough to leave Bill). It'd just be nice to have some serious distance from these things, which is what started this part of the discussion in the first place...

So you're ok with what Nike has done in the past?

What's with the "got it" stuff? I've answered your boring, bating, idiotic questions with honest answers because that is the nature of good faith discussions even when you despise the other person. Try it without the pseudo-wit.

Not into billionaires, period. Not into what capitalism needs to thrive or what it encourages. Not into a lot of things.

But I have an iPhone, I drive a car, I wear clothes from god-knows-where, I order from Amazon from time to time, I have A/C units and use them in the summer, I water my lawn occasionally, I've begun to despise the homeless near my home, and so forth. Hell, I think there is something inherently racist about the landscape of professional sports themselves.

ie I'm a person and we all make choices we aren't happy about. One of the obvious things we encounter is the inevitable. The team WILL be sold at some point. And in this example of who is going to buy the Trail Blazers AND keep them in Portland, Phil Knight seems like a good candidate...

That's fine. I'm not saying anyone shouldn't. That's up to each individual person, but as CEO he should have known everything going on with their unethical practices.
Maybe I missed it above, but what specifically are you concerned with?

It's not baiting. Just pointing out hypocrisies people have. It's not like you don't continuously try to insult me.

It's ok if a potential owner from Nike treats workers overseas like absolute shit. But, not ok for someone to be in pictures with a despicable person who may or may not have known about that persons activities.

I've been in plenty of pictures with a friends dad who got busted for soliciting prostitution. Must mean I knew he was soliciting prostitution and have done it myself from time to time too, right?

Jobs could be a terrible person. I have no idea what she has or has not done in terms of human trafficking.

Knight doesn't seem like he is a bad person, he just owned a company that has done bad things. He would have known about those things being the CEO.

I agree with you that billionaires suck. Most, if not all, have done bad things to get to where they are, or stay where they are.

Hard to reconcile that when rooting for a sports team you enjoy.

Gil, I'm not a Duck fan nor a avid follower of Mr, Knight. Rather, I'm one who appreciates success and admire the Knight's who follow their dreams and succeed. Mr. Knight's passion is in sports. But you error when you claim he hasn't been generous to academics. Ask both OU or Stanford who have been gifted programs or facilities for academics.
Your 90's complaint is bunk. Stay with me. I have a long standing friend who worked for Nike two-plus decades and traveled to their Chinese factories. Visiting their most rural factory, he excepted conditions to be stark but was surprised to see the employees dress better than he did on the Beaverton Nike campus. Facilities were very clean. At the time his children were small so he visited the Nike campus daycare facility and found it to be immaculate and the children healthy and happy. The factory conditions were excellent. And the wages, when compared to other industries, were generous.
At the same time, the local media (your bedfellows) were questioning a Nike Exec about the factory conditions and he agreed to discuss it with anyone having visited the facilities. Silence. Typical.
The snotty Duck Students hadn't a clue of life, business or markets. Only the Marxist tripe fed to them on campus. Knight was currently pledging $200 million for new facilities and was taken aback by Oregon's outburst.
Frohnmayer\ was correct in dismissing student protest since it was based on a lie and not the truth of factory condition.
Not surprising you side with the students. You complain about Nike as if they don't pay any taxes which is nonsense. You're is yet one more Leftist rant lacking substance.
Again, I do not genuflect at the altar of Knight. But I appreciate his charity to the universities he attended. Both athletics and academics. And I'm not a fan of China. But accuracy is important and the prevailing Leftist image of the 90's was inaccurate.
A final note. Why would you complain that Knight's attempt to make U of Oregon a national brand? He hasn't the power of the SEC but his efforts were noteworthy. He also helped retain OSU baseball coach Pat Casey when Mr, Casey was offered a position at LSU. Oregon is a GameDay favorite due to the efforts and charity of Mr, Knight.
Yet you complain. Again, typical.
And this from an OSU al

Is this from some random forum we are supposed to believe?

I'm not trying to get into an argument about Nike practices. I'm just saying, most billionaires have things in their closets.

I would be fine with Knight being the owner given the choices. I still think a female led ownership would be a great thing though. If people think Jobs is a Pedo than why not Scott? Is she somehow connected based on some picture out there?

Edit: ah. A comment from the Willamette Week. That's where I go to get my truthful news.

I'd prefer Knight. But Scott would be good too.

I don't think you can generally find much cleaner billionaires than those two. Possibly jobs.

But it would make sense to have Knight take Portland, Jobs take Vegas, and Scott take Seattle.

Bezos sucks so maybe Scott was privy to his moves. Dunno.

I'd love some closure and an owner that wants to win. Knight does seem dedicated to winning.
