Did I miss understand this?

I was repeating what he said. You can have whatever thoughts you want in your head. Yet he expresses himself with a t-shirt.

It's also awesome how he is hating on Phil Robertson for "hating on gay people. Calling him a douchebag over and over. then bashing Christians. Just a joke

Then bashes him for being rich.

Just a complete idiot

I just listened to it twice and didn't hear him say

whatever thoughts or beliefs you have in your head is fine, just don't share them

I did hear him say whatever thoughts are in your is fine, and that he is allowed to have whatever biggoted or ignorant views that he wants to have. He also said A&E has rights also.

In reference to rich bashing he quotes the bible, its easier for a camel to fit through the head of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. Thats no worse than saying gay people wont inherit the kingdom of god.

What were you thoughts on thier before pictures?

So these guys are like Larry the Cable guy, fake rednecks that are actually making fun of their audience for easy money.

this guy just needs to come out of the closet

hold on, I was told before the show existed, he was clean cut. This is 2 years before the show (at least), and he's not clean cut. I'm confused.

The only hatred I'm seeing in this thread are from the posters who obviously hate Christians.

The Christophobia in here is palpable.

I have no problems with christians who dont use their faith to hide their biggoty. If you hate gays just say so and stop trying to pass the buck on to god, cause he has more important shit to worry about.

that's idiotic. everyone here is bashing bigotry, not Christianity. if someone wants to be a bigot and call it Christianity that's their problem.

Your issue should be with the Bible, which does say homosexuality is a sin. Robertson mentioned many other sins as well outside of the sexual preference of people, as they are defined by the Bible. As usual, the media noise and distortions shape public opinion, and the truth of the event becomes secondary to the agendas of those on both sides of the debate.

Context gets lost, along with the truth.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2013/12/20/phil-robertson-quote-media-not-reporting

To begin with, the Duck Commander did not single out homosexual behavior; he listed over a half-dozen sins, including adultery, greed, bestiality, drunkenness, idolatry, etc. But the most important thing Robertson said I have yet to see anyone in the elite media report:

You put in your article that the Robertson family really believes strongly that if the human race loved each other and they loved God, we would just be better off. We ought to just be repentant, turn to God, and let’s get on with it, and everything will turn around.

Here's the most important thing: in the article, Robertson said this just before he talked at length about sin.

Obviously, context is everything when it comes to understanding truth, but context is also kryptonite to an anti-Christian media and left only interested in furthering their own bigoted agenda.

If you look at the full context of what Robertson said, including the quote about loving one another that the media is going out of its way to not report, how can the media claim that Robertson said homosexuals are going to Hell? Or that he singled out homosexuals? Or that he compared homosexuality to bestiality.

If Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality, he also compared adultery, drunkenness and greed to bestiality -- and no one is arguing that.
You can only claim what the left and the media are claiming about Robertson if you are lying, and it is just a fact that through the act of omission (the quote above) and commission, the media are lying.

Phil Robertson is anti-sin, believes we should all love one another, and believes we can all be saved through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Only the media and the left could be offended by that.

as previously noted in this thread Christians including Robertson all demonstrably pick and choose from the bible what they think is and isn't sin based on their own personal view of morality and personal prejudices.

MLK Jr was a minister, man of the cloth.

No. Robertson listed other sins as well. Now you're just making things up.

here's what the Pope has to say about such things

Pope Francis faulted the Roman Catholic church for focusing too much on gays, abortion and contraception, saying the church has become "obsessed" with those issues to the detriment of its larger mission to be "home for all," according to an extensive new interview published Thursday.

The church can share its views on homosexuality, abortion and other issues, but should not "interfere spiritually" with the lives of gays and lesbians, the pope added in the interview, which was published in La Civilta Cattolica, a Rome-based Jesuit journal.

“We have to find a new balance, otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel," Francis said in the interview.

"The church has sometimes locked itself up in small things, in small-minded rules,' Francis said. "The people of God want pastors, not clergy acting like bureaucrats or government officials."

The 12,000-word interview ranges widely, touching upon the pope's personal faith, the role of women and nuns in the church, Latin Mass and even the pope's favorite artists.

"He's very open honest and candid like we have not seen in a pope before. He critiques people who focus too much on tradition, who want to go to time in the past that does not exist anymore," said Fr. James Martin of America Magazine, which published an English translation of the interview. "He reminds people that thinking with the church, in obedience, does not just mean thinking with the hierarchy, that church is a lot bigger than its hierarchy."

In the interview, Francis does not come out in support of gay marriage, abortion rights or contraception, saying that church positions on those issues are "clear," but he added that the "the proclamation of the saving love of God comes before moral and religious imperatives.”

“A person once asked me, in a provocative manner, if I approved of homosexuality,” he said to Jesuit priest Fr. Antonio Spadaro, who conducted the interview for La Civilta Cattolica. “I replied with another question: ‘Tell me: when God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?’ We must always consider the person.”

The comments on gays and lesbians follow up on remarks Francis made aboard the papal airplane in July when asked about gay priests. "Who am I to judge?" the pope then said, in a quote that made international front-page headlines. In Thursday's interview, Francis clarified that those comments were about all gay people and not only priests.

Francis, 76, also touched upon where he falls within the political and theological spectrum of Catholics. Because of what he said was a purposeful avoidance of talking about sexuality and reproductive issues during the first six months of his papacy, some critics have said the pope has shifted from being more outspoken on conservative issues when he was a Jesuit province superior in Argentina and later was the Archbishop of Buenos Aires. The pope, who was appointed to the jesuit leadership position when he was 36, said his youthful lack of experience made him too authoritarian of a leader.

“But I have never been a right-winger," he said.

He listed a few things out of hundreds mentioned in the OT, with the focus on homosexuality (what's wrong with America? START with homosexuality... and branch out from there). His wording both in the article and in the sermon obviously demonstrate there is some level of prejudice involved that goes way beyond "yeah I think homosexuality is a sin because the bible says so".

I don't see him saying eating shellfish will lead to the downfall of America.

Please enlighten us sinners and quote the New Testament about homosexuality!

I'm not sure why people are having such a Shit fit over these comments. He is a bible thumper, what conservative bible thumper wouldn't say this?

He's basically just listing off bible sins.

People saying he is hiding behind bigotry of the bible are jjust as ridiculous. The man has a right to believe anything he wants. Thinking the bible is a fairy tale and acting like it's garbage is bigotry too
