Phil Robertson suspended for "anti-gay" remarks

This story is so manufactured. I read last night that Phil's suspension for next season amounts to one episode, as 9 of the 10 episodes for the season have already been filmed and A&E has not plans to edit him out of already shot footage.

Exactly. They suspend him and then run a "Duck Dynasty" marathon. They're hardly running away from those people.

But the guys from Duck Dynasty aren't rich from the show, they are rich because of their duck calls.

Are you saying that they don't make money from their merchandise as well? I'm pretty sure market penetration is increasing based on the free advertising they're getting from this manufactured brouhaha.

I'm really not sure if I should be mad and A&E AND Duck Dynasty for playing everyone on such a sensitive subject, or admire them for their creativity.

That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson. While Phil's comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the "coarse language" he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would "never incite or encourage hate." We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article and reiterate that they are not views we hold.
But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family … a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.
So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.

Let's all apologize, promise to act nice . . . and get back to making money.

Coarse language?

Someone please point out to me where there was anything remotely coarse in his statements.

You should direct that question towards A&E and the Ducks. It was their statement and their terminology. Given Phil's high moral standard and commitment to the cloth I doubt he would issue a statement that he didn't agree with.

Lol at these guys. Can't blame em for making a buck but I can still think they are a pack of tools taking advantage of their zealot fan base.

Just as it seemed the media hype surrounding the “Duck Dynasty” cast was dying down, the A&E reality family is back with a bang, as a new video announcing their new gun line began circulating online.

In a promo ad that reads like a movie trailer, Phil Robertson can be heard reciting the familiar lines of the Declaration of Independence.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, and they’ve been endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights,” his voice declares. “And those are rights that no government can take from you.”

In the ad, produced by the gun company Mossberg & Sons, the Robertson men are seen in their go-to camo apparel, handling a gun that reads “Faith. Family. Ducks.”

“You know what makes me happy, ladies and gentleman? To blow a mallard drake's head smooth off,” he says at the end of the ad.

A rep for Mossberg & Sons told FOX411 the guns should be available in select stores soon.

"We have begun shipping semi-auto rifles and pistols and some of the shotguns. Cabela's and Academy Sports & Outdoors have already placed orders and guns should be arriving in-store any day."

She added that the company expects other retailers to pick up the line shortly.

"Also, Mossberg is sold through two-step distribution, so any licensed FFL (Federal Firearms License) dealer can purchase these firearms through a wholesaler."

The gun line promo comes on the heels of news that Phil Robertson will resume filming for the hit A&E show, after he was suspended for nine days following some controversial comments he made to GQ about homosexual sex and African-Americans.

The Mossberg rep told us the company is excited to work with the famous family of hunters.

"Mossberg is excited to partner with the Duck Commanders; the alignment of two family-owned and operated businesses to promote the traditions of waterfowl hunting and family values."
