OT Pistons losing streak :(

He was a good pick, considering only about 3 other players in that draft amounted to anything
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Rudy Gobert
Steven Adams
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
CJ McCollum
Kelly Olynyk
Dennis Schröder
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Mason Plumlee
Mike Muscala
Victor Oladipo
Otto Porter Jr.

Simons was arguably a better pick.

CJ didn't fit. And if he WAS BPA, then you turn around and flip him.

Ant may end up being a better pick. Either way, CJ was a good pick.

Holding him through and past his prime value while playing next to Dame, that's where the ball was dropped in my opinion.

If anyone should have been taking a swing on Giannis, it should have been us. Neil was allergic to tall, athletic, long players. Why draft a score-first combo guard? How was that useful to that team as it was?

surely theyre losing deliberately, but not for tanking purposes

maybe they want to get rid of monty williams

It wasn't the best pick possible. Most teams rarely make the best pick possible. Yes, Olshey could've taken Giannis or he could've taken a big swing like Lucas Nogueira (the pick after Giannis) and came up totally empty.

It was a solid value pick. CJ could've easily been moved in around 2017 for a very solid forward. Olshey didn't fail by drafting CJ, he failed by not moving off him when his value was highest.

Drafting CJ was a great pick though, the best of Olshey's entire tenure, so that kinda goes against the case you're making

Man that's really sad that the best pick Olshey made never even made an all star team. Just ouch.

To inherit an all-star and lose him for nothing, then to fail to put another all-star next to Dame for nearly a decade is an unbelievable failure.

And on top of that not trade a borderline all star in a clear ellis/curry situation! God damn it was a frustrating decade.

And having to listen to Olshey be condescending every time he was asked about the incompatibility of Dame and CJ or actually every time he was asked any question, exacerbated that frustration.

Pistons up 12 on Celtics 3rd qtr...
GET SOME !! u can do it Detroit

i jinxed the Pistons, the Celtics just cut the lead to 1. Blame Whyachi, i'm like a bad basketball voodoo doll.

Detroit playing with scrap, showing some real scrappy play, giving Boston maximum scrappiness.

What was frustrating was that for many years, most of this board answered my Olshey criticisms with, "In Neil I trust." But now the same individuals say that they wanted him gone.

Derrick White forgot to boxout, everyone in Boston hates him now.

Lol. Well I know this isn't a personal insult to me.

Pistons gave it everything they had against a superior team. I haven't watched a lot of Pistons games this season but them losing 28 in a row doesn't make a lot of sense. They have a better roster than that... they just don't know how to win games.

Pistons played hard, the Celtics put together a near perfect overtime. I hope Detroit gets their elusive win soon.

The Pistons struggled mightily to tie the all-time NBA losing streak record tonight, but they came through in the end.

I bet they lose their next 6 games as well. Their best chance is at home against SA on Jan 10th........ depending on who the Spurs sit that night

as long as they lose to Toronto im good. I just want that "over 2 seasons" bullshit to be out the window. It annoys me for some reason.

Raptors are about to get slapped around in Boston and then will be on a back-to-back when they arrive in Detroit. The Pistons' players will be playing for their lives. Can't even call it a trap game--they know it will be a fight.

I know people hate to hear it, but we did get to the WCF with CJ playing a major role. We’ve been horrible since we traded him. We didn’t win the title, but the Dame/CJ era was successful.

Ok, but how many players were taken after CJ that ended up having better careers? Giannis and Gobert. How many were taken above him that ended up not being as good? I count 8.

CJ was a good pick.

CJ wasn't a bad pick. The problem was when LaMarcus left and Olshey decided that Dame and CJ worked well together as a back court. That's where the big mistake was made and it was made season after season following that initial misjudgment.
