Plausible destinations for our vets?

Welcome to our community

We get out of the stupid 90 million of Grant Ayton Ant

Buyout Lonzo and Jalen Hood.

Vincent is end of the bench trade fodder

Rui provides another forward for us.

CJ gives us a vet presence who can take on Brogdon role from last season but being older can sit out more and defer more than Ant.

Rob was so fun to watch tonight, and even fun to watch the prior games, that I'm totally fine keeping him. He's the type of vet you want on a young team, a hustle unselfish player with great D and efficient scoring.

Sure he could get hurt at any moment, but whatever, then we can just give a young guy those minutes.

We must trade two of Grant Ayton Ant ASAP!
I agree that most likely Ant and Jerami have to go and they'll likely have to go for what has already been offered but Rob is going to have a ton of new suitors and if we can get a FRP, maybe a prospect and expiring contracts that we can cut for Rob we'd have to pull the trigger because like you said "sure he could get hurt at any moment" and then the trade value is gone.

I wouldn't trade him to offload his contract... I wouldn't trade any of these guys (Rob, Tisse, Ant, Jerami and Deandre) just to offload their contracts because their talent justifies those contracts, especially on teams trying to win more games. That being said if we can get a FRP and non penalizing contracts for Rob we have to get that value now.

Probably not "plausible", but feels like a simple, best-case scenario.

I kind of like this, but the Nets have to add in more value, right?
Sure, that'd be great if they did, but would we really be any worse off if they didn't? How much value do you honestly expect to receive back from either Ant or Ayton?

Ayton is not tradable at this point. Bad contract. He needs to really shake ups his game.

I kind of like this, but the Nets have to add in more value, right? I love the role Ben is playing right now off the bench. Another physical playmaking wing who pushes the pace.

Portland gets to dump two players standing in the way of other players, and both players have little to no value. Might even be negative value factors with that particular pair of Blazers. Plus, and this is a big bonus, Portland reduces next season's payroll by as much as 64M. That ain't nothing!

Yeah I'd take a pure salary dump at this point. Sure we could've traded Ant years ago for a much higher return but whats done is done, thats a sunk cost.

I'd even explore just trading them for a clearly inferior player on a similar contract that goes into next season. Any new player we acquire won't have the history of being a starter and we can sit them on the bench without the drama that would come from benching Simons or Ayton.

I'm fine with keeping ONE of Grant/Ayton/Simons..... but we MUST TRADE TWO NOW!

Yes I'd do that Nets trade.

As others have said, we save the salary of next season. We kind of missed the boat on trading Ant for value, but whats done is done and I just don't see his value increasing by the deadline or in the summer, better to move on ASAP.

I wonder if the Nets might consider it, if they don't have cap space coming this summer then they clearly get the better players and can always flip then later. Also being a new team they can stick them on the bench without the drama that it would have if we tried to bench Ayton or Ant.

Nets don't have a lot of salary next season, only big contracts the have are Claxton $26mil CamJohson $21mil Finney-Smith $15mil. So I'd imagine they prefer to just keep Simmons/Bojan and cut that salary.

If Finney-Smith was playing worse and not starting maybe they'd send him to us instead of Bojan.

I tend to think a trade to a team with more players on similar 2 year salary would be more likely to get completed.

Ant to the Bulls for Vucevic makes some sense. Maybe if there is a way we can give them a bunch of 2nd rounders but get our pick back or something then that would be awesome.

the Blazer poster at RealGM who, months before it happened, said the Blazers were chasing Avdija hard, said there have been lots of discussion about moving Simons over the last 24 hours. He says an executive told him he believes Simons asked to be traded

Rockets upgrade their backup center for a Sengum/Ayton duo
Rockets cut their PG cap hit from $45 million to $25 million while getting younger from 31 to 25

Sounds good to me if true.

Do wish Cronin was more proactive then waiting for Powell/Hart/Dame/Ant/etc to ask out before making improvements to the roster.

Also there are so many players that are untradable until Dec15th - the time to do this was over the summer.

How many draft picks do we get?
Good catch, yeah we probably have to give up a 2nd rounder.

Ant may have had value for a FRP in years prior - I doubt that is the case any longer. Will be pleasantly surprised if Cronin can get one for either or both of those guys.

Smart hasn't been healthy much in Memphis, maybe they're ready to get someone to fill in for Ja

So we get nothing out of it for our future. Might as well let them walk then.

Some bad blood between these franchises or this type of deal could make sense

Lakers could make sense as an Ant destination - but if were trying to hold out for a FRP with a Grant trade maybe that stops Joe from considering sending Ant there;

That would be a good deal for LAL imho??? All of those players are underperforming. And not needing a FRP.

We need to trade Ant for a FRP and expirings, already have too many players as is. I’m guessing a late FRP and some players we can buy out who can go to other teams.

Just remember that any of those 1-for-3 or 1-for-4 deals require the Blazers to cut players to make room for the incomings.

We are in the unique position to be able to send multiple rotation veterans to a playoff team who needs a boost.

Grant
RWIII
Reath
Thybulle
Simons
Ayton

Pick your meal.

I could see the Lakers, Mavs, and Kings all looking to make moves. Maybe Philly.

Love it. Whatever gets us the best package of picks is what we should do
