Plausible destinations for our vets? (3 Viewers)

I think we just have to do it the old fashioned way and wait for Shams to break trade news. It is all garbage out there unless you have a mole within an organization.

ps

M's not making any moves yet themselves. Bichette??? Can he get his act together with a change of scenery?

The Mariners fucking suck and they drive me nuts. Lol. I'm not ready to think about how they did nothing AGAIN this off-season while Astros go to rebuild. Fuckin a.

Grant = Simons = Ayton = no value. Joe is not the guy. Be prepared for the same starting 5 next season.

Before the season, Joe spoke of Scoot/Shae/DC being our core. No mention of Simons. And Simons wasn’t one of the glasses. Joe is just waiting for the right deal.

Joe is holding on to our guys too long. Why did he give Grant and Thybulle those ridiculous contracts?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some teams will want our vets for pieces that make a lot more sense for our team (some combo of picks, prospects and vets that don't need to play or can be flipped).

There's just no way that the Lakers preferred DFS over Jerami. I bet you that either Joe was given one last chance or he has pissed off some GMs around the league with his overvaluing of our vets.

This shit has me nervous that both Jerami and Ant will be here all season and that (for me) will be absolutely unacceptable. Please make a fool out of me for being nervous Joe!

The BIG negative IMO for teams possibly wanting Jerami is that huge contract with many years left, DFS is only 14 mil this year and I think it's an option year next season - DFS so much cheaper.

It was one interview. How many times did he repeat it? Zero? I am guessing you all are all making too much of it. He did not mention Deni or Camara either.

Why are you causing me to agree with Kingspeed? Ant is NOT a part of the future core. Give it time

I did not say he will be. But to think that Joe made that decision before the start of the season AND then let us all know about it by not mentioning him in one comment is a bit out there. Even for Blazer fans.

Yet happens to be the case. Ant wasn’t supposed to be here now.

Cronin is simply trying to undo the pushover image he cast on himself with his early give away trades. He's trying to play hard ball and get fair value for players now and not get shafted. He set himself up though.

You can't come into the league as a new GM and do other teams favor after favor and give out one sided trades for nothing. That Clippers deal fucked up the new CBA for small market teams. It pissed a lot of GMs off. It also set a persona for Cronin: Easy. The Clippers and Pelicans are never going to pay back that favor. You Can't GM that. That's not how you earn respect. You earn it by demanding it. You demand fair deals and you hang up the phone when deals are insults until they call you back with a better offer or you move on.

That is certainly one theory. Another theory is the Blazers achieved their goal of getting under the luxury salary cap and other GMs understand that. The Pelicans never benefited from the trade so yeah I would not expect them to pay us back. Also if there was a "pushover " image....... he already got rid of it last year with the Dame trade.

Cronin misjudged things (once again) and waited too long to trade Grant.

The time to move him was last year when he was playing great. Now he’s 30 and playing horribly.

I will be shocked if we can get someone to give us a first for him.

At this point I am less concerned with trading guys (it will happen or likely not) and more concerned about getting a coach who will develop players better and play for the long-term good potentially at the cost of a few short term wins.

Someone not afraid to make our “big-bucks-guys” role players if that helps the team.

Life of a Blazer fan.

It takes two. I think our best hope is trading Grant. I doubt we'll be able to find a taker for Ant or Ayton.
I'm hoping we trade Grant for Middleton or a similar deal and just get out of the last year or two of Grants contract.

I've totally given up on a FRP.

Grant is clearly our 3rd forward at best behind Deni/Camara. Not a good situation for him or the team to continue to roll forward with him on this roster.

But I never would've thought it made sense to acquire the vets Cronin did so who the hell knows what he will do with them.

If it really pissed teams off so much, why didn't they step in and offer more?

you're trying to sell a used 2017 car. it's bluebook value is around $15,000. People offer $12,000-14,000. Your counter-offer is $29,000, firm. That's not hardball, it's dumb-ball

The consolation is that Ant/Ayton are expiring next season. Joe can just let them walk for nothing and enjoy the cap room. Will he do it? Plus Shaedon will be due his new deal. Will they over pay? Get rid of Grant if possible.
