Maybe people can start seeing a trend.
Small scoring guards who are not plus defenders don't have a lot of demand across the league....
They're plentiful.

Simons, Herro, Trae, LaVine, Beal, etc.

and Portland is getting ready to begin their 10th straight season with one of those as the starting SG

I am pretty sure that the 45 million per year for Trae, and LaVine and the 55 million for Beal has something to do with it as well.

Are the lakers wanting to get rid of DLo? The magic have a lot of space and need a scoring guard. Maybe they could get involved. I have 2 picks going from LA to Portland and 1 from Orlando to Portland. But maybe it should be just 1 from LA since they are giving up DLo.

Make 2031 a “pick swap” option for Portland and perhaps it’s more palatable? I like the overall trade and I would personally be happy to get 1 pick from LA and one pick from Orlando, and both can be 1-4 protected; just forego 2031 all together.

I wouldn't put LaVine in the group as he has above average SG height, even though his effectiveness may be similar, it's really more of an injury thing with him.

Poole, Jamal Murray, Brunson, Curry, Irving, Clarkson, Fox, Maxey, Garland should all be on this list too but plenty of those guys have legit effectiveness and very high demand.

So no, being a small scoring guard isn't some guarantee of worthlessness or such. Like most NBA positions or archetypes there are elite superstar examples and examples of ineffectiveness too.

This more shows how many Blazer fans have convinced themselves the only way to have great value as a guard is to be some huge 6'6+ abnormality.... which is just not the case.

Bear in mind that SAS also has Atlanta's 2025 pick and I'm pretty sure that will be more valuable than their own, especially if they get Ayton. Ayton and Wemby would be an interesting combination, and I'd love to see Pop coaching Ayton...

[Edit: although it occurs to me that CP3 is supposedly not a fan of Ayton (and vice versa). But whatever.]

OKC makes a lot of sense for either Jerami or Anfernee, and they have a metric shit ton of picks (but good luck prizing one out of them):

upload_2024-7-9_21-14-30.png

If they didn't want to do this it would be because of Dort who is kind of talismanic for them. But they just acquired Caruso, who is like Dort but with more offense, and meanwhile they could do with more wing size and outside shooting. They absolutely should give us at least one first rounder in this one. It would give them a rotation of SGA, Williams, Caruso, Jerami, Holmgren, Hartenstein, and Isaiah Joe and or Cason Wallace.

Alternatively, given that they traded basically their other PG in Giddey, they might want another guy who can bring the ball up and create his own shot:

Here are the picks they have:

If they didn't want to trade Dort, then we'd have to wait until these recent signings can be traded:

Have to imagine at some point OKC trades for a star like when they acquired Paul George? Hell they might have the picks to bring in 2 or 3 immediately, Garland, Markannan, and someone.

Spurs probably can trade for a couple stars too but I think they will want to wait a year or two.

The west is going to be insanely difficult the next 10 years as these two teams get even better.

I like Ant in Okc.. that’s actually a nice fit as he could literally just be a microwave spot up shooter for them. Probably the 20 ppg in 20 mpg type lol

Even if they plan to do that, they've got enough picks after giving us a couple, and Grant would be a better trade asset than the guys coming our way in my suggested trade.

I will start to pay more attention October 4 when Wiggins and Joe are tradeable.

As a teacher and advocate for functional life skills students, I really hope these choice words stop. It is not funny or cute. Let’s talk about Blazers. No policing needed, just common decency towards human beings. Thank you.

Grant for Tyler Herro straight up. Then trade Sharpe/Thybulle/RW3 for Markkenen.

Scoot
Herro
Deni
Markkenen
Clingan

Then sign Steve Blake and replace Scoot with him. Or play Herro at PG and trade Scoot.

No. This post shows everyone what camp you fall in.
What "camp" someone falls in is none of your concern, especially for someone with mod powers. The poster was not engaged in political banter. But you seem to be and are looking to push an agenda. Words have meanings. 150 years ago when certain people were called retarded, it was because the word most aptly described their condition. It's only been seen as a slur because the word became part of the public lexicon. You can make up any descriptive word or words you want to describe this set of people, but in 50 years that too will be deemed offensive and another mod will be trying to change language. Try being as tolerant of other people and other views as you want them to be to conform to your world view. And though my experience with this set of people might be different from yours and others, I grew up around Fairview Mental Institution as it was known then. Why, because the words aptly described the place. My Grandmother worked at Snell Hall on the top of the hill for 35 years. Here I am almost 60 and can tell you the name of the building where she worked. I know what that place was all about. But then that would be getting into politics and I would have to bring up the Kennedy's, Special Olympics and guilt. Let people be, nobody crossed a line. Damn.

Thank you. Mental Retardation was the official medical diagnosis not too long ago. I"m old enough to have seen a string of new replacement words get pushed, and then pulled back as being offenses, only to be replaced by another word. Handicap-->disabled-->challenged-->differently abled--->divergent.

People get off on playing these word games so they can wag their finger at others with cheap virtue.

Spoken like someone that doesn't see the affect these words have on folks, nor cares.

It's a never ending game and those who push it will constantly change their mind. And we're supposed to keep hopping around from one foot to the other in abject obedience to their decrees. That may be your religion, but it's not mine.

Me saying what camp he fell into wasn't talking politics. I'll leave it at that as I don't want to OT the main board.

But, no. You are dead wrong. That word still has enormous negative connotations and should not be used. Be better.

FO. There is nothing wrong with the word insanity, which started this. Then others chimed in with words like retarded and asshole. I used the word "kinks" in another thread. You have a problem with that? It might be too descriptive for you. And do not tell a grown man or woman to be better. Condescending, aren't you? I wasn't even a part of the diatribe but saw you acting out and called you on it. Really, using the word insanity is offensive now? Please share your word or words to be used in the future to replace such an offending word? Can we get the new thesaurus to navigate this board peacefully. Being a war veteran, can you get people to stop using the phrase "going to war?" It is used often here but is offensive and triggering to me. You are wrong. Move along. Leave the main board as it is. Words like insanity, retarded and asshole have meanings. They can also be used as slurs, such as you did using the word asshole. Know the difference between a slur and proper usage of a word and life will be much simpler. That is all.
