In an Sports Illustrated poll of 242 NBA players asking them ?€œWhich player gets the least out of the most talent??€?, Vince Carter finished fourth with six percent of the vote (approximately 15 players). Finishing above Carter were the Lakers?€™ Kwame Brown, the Clippers?€™ Tim Thomas and the Knicks?€™ Eddy Curry.

so is rod thorn really that stupid to re-sign that underachiever? ya know what i mean? lets say that is true, that vince is a huge underachiver. so the rest of the league knows that...but rod thorn and nets management all agree to sign him to 60 million? does anyone else get what I am saying?

its a rhetorical question though

with vince its tough. the talent of kobe but the mindset of a scrub. its very frustrating as a fan of his to see him on this team and in this role . I really just wish his role would be more defined. coming off the bench or the third option behind RJ and boone, a passer, a playmaker.

CLE@NJN when he had 32 points was the perfect role for him. the main offense, the main creator and the team thrived off of it. but it seems far too often this season, he is not involved. but i saw last night in the 1st quarter vs new york that they were looking for him. and as a result, they got their best 1st quarter of teh season.

this is not just a huge vince fan talking. as vince goes, so goes the team. and this season has been half RJ/half Vince...so naturally, we are around .500.
 
Well he's definitely not the Vinsanity we're used to. I don't know if its age or effort, but it's certainly fair that the players would at least have that perception, regardless of attribution.
 
When he first came here he was something specail but now he's trying to adjust his game to make him last longer but it's not working.
 
Carter doesn't have the will to win. You never know what you're going to get with him each game and its a shame. He should have never been resigned.

Reading that 242 players (40% of players in the league over a season, or at least?) took part in the poll, it shows what guys on the court think of each other. It's not saying Vince Carter is a scrub. They are saying he is talented to the point where they expect more. Fair or not? I'm not sure.

is he a scrub ? no. An underachiever absolutely, I have never understood what a fall this guy's career took, so much talent yet so much stupidity. I mean chucking heat check 3's 2 seconds inton a shot clock not going to the rim, it's almost as if he's too comfortable I for one hope Carter gets traded maybe to NC for Jason Richardson or Emeka who knows, Kidd must cry at night thinking how much wasted talent he plays with. There are 4 guys that play like they care RJ,Kidd, A-51, and Boone after that IDK.
 
I always thought this was fairly obvious. Carter has all the talent in the world, but has been unable to be a franchise player.

if the nets trade him per say, he'll light it up for his new team, then dog it
 
I agree with BasX.

I think he would probably get Miami or NY into the playoffs if he was traded there. He'll step up his game if he gets traded.
 
Carter is just a victim from the lofty expectations from his first 3 seasons in the league when the comparisons to Jordan were being thrown around. And of course not being able to live up THOSE kind of expectations Carter gets criticized and hated on even though he actually has turned into a very good player.

i dunno......... Vince is one of my favorite players but this guy dosnt push his self, when Vince is determined and wants it hes one of the top players in the nba. Now i also think its the offense the nets are running now to. They need to run the offense through Vince when they used to do that Vince carried this team and we did well. Please Vince save us

interesting trade. i might have done it, but, something tells me, Charlotte wouldn't.

I don't remember but Jordan this offseason was trying to get him to leave NJ, he wanted VC to market him in NC as thier star player IDK how much of the other story was true, because he issued a press release that he would spend what it takes to get the right talent in Charlotte to his fans.

MJ may still have interest in VC, hey it's worth a shot

vc is vc...he is an underachiever but a very good player...he is 30 and he isn't going to change...if he is a franchise player we would have to pay him $20M...but he is only getting $11M...just a little over kwame brown, who is averaging 5 ppg...i would rather have vc for $11M than paul pierce for $20M.

Heh - sadly, that's a $60 million starting line-up that would win 32 games.
This should make this an expansion team in Las Vegas, and call them "The Las Vegas Coaching Hell".

early in his career he was definately a franchise player. I think his last 2 years in toronto and these last 2 years in jersey have been his worst seasons since it appears the teams are moving away from going to him. I'm a nets fan first but i strongly agree with maxamillion on this one, if vince plays well then the nets win. I love RJ but he's a a terrific secondary or tertiary star, to date he has never led any team to success as the primary star. this year RJ has been the primary star/score and it hasn't worked out that well. RJ just can't score with enough variety to be THE GUY. I don't see much difference between him and corey maggette, RJ is better in transition but corey is more physical and a better rebounder. Would anyone want maggette to be the primary star? Of course not.

THe team needs to get back to vince being the primary scorer and RJ being the secondary scorer. Vince has to be blamed as well, he needs to realize that he can be kobe's equal and just go for it. however, he's been in the league 10 years and early on he seemed to figure it out but I wonder if he even wants to be kobe's equal anymore. He's one of my favorite players but it's maddening how he doesn't seem to have the will to be the best.
 
here is the problem i am seeing. you guys seem to think that vince wants to be kobes equal. when has he ever said this? even back in 2000 and 2001, kobe was better because kobe was a different player. kobe has that arrogance and that cockiness. vince has never had that and never will so the problem is you guys keep comparing him to kobe.

when vince is plays well and he is the main offense guy, the nets usually win or have a chance to win. the reason for all the hate lately is that vince is the #2 and #3 option. that just cant happen. vince is not gonna complain either, he just wants whats best for the team.

when he goes back to being #1, I have a feeling the hate will go away.
