I think the Knicks have to be thrown into the equation as well. They have the same amount of losses as NJ, but they have played 3 less games. The Knicks are still as much in it as anyone else. You can even throw in Milwaukee and Toronto.

New Jersey got some good rest for their best players, carter and kidd, by putting away utah early in the third. Carter fueled an 11-point run in the third to put the game out of reach, and then scalabrine dashed any of utah's hopes of any sort of comeback with 6 straight points soon after.

It may be disheartening to see that many teams in front of the Nets also won, including Boston, Philadelphia, and Indiana. However, key teams also lost, mainly Orlando and Chicago. Cleveland losing could help the Nets in the long run if they reach far enough.

Not a bad night and the Nets play the Pacers in an upcoming home and home series that could be the two most pivotal games as the season ends.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting xpehbamxyu:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree with you ingeneral kdub, but I do not think that the Nets will be able to edge out Philly. Philly is getting better every game and they will not let-up. When the Nets got Carter there was an adjustment period of about 10-15 games before the Nets were able to mount a win-streak. I think that philly will start winning game after game in about 5 games from now.

I would not be suprised if Chicago falls out of the playoffs, btw. They seem to be starting on a loosing streak simular to the large ones they had earlier.</div>

Iam looking more for Indy to drop out then Philly, if Jermaine Oneal really is out for the rest of the season. I love Reggie's ablityt to step up & carry the load when the Pacers have needed it year after year. But honestly I dont see how they will have enuff as the season comes to an end, Stephen Jackson has been inconsistent since returning from suspension. And when you look for Jax to carry the type of scoring load he will have to carry for the rest of the year, then his shot selection becomes a major problem, right now the Pacers are going to need about 20 shots a game due to their lack of scores. And coming from Jax most of those will be bad shots. I love Stephen since 2000 when he was playing here for the KK injury. But dont want Stephen Jackson to be giving that much load and lee-way, you have to kind of keep him in cheack for him to truely be a plus for your team. So I dont really see much positves for the Pacers coming down the stretch.

As far as Philly goes they have quite a few games coming up against quality Western Conference opponents, that means frontlines are going to come into play, which mean C-Webb better step up or they maybe in some trouble, cause Sam Dalembert & Rodney Rogers are only going to take you but so far. While the Nets dont have any Western elite left on the schedule, so as far as scheduling goes I think we have the edge over Philly for the rest of the way.

But like T-Best said we cant get to caught up in worrying about what everyone else is doing and forget to handle our own business.

big big win over Indiana earlier today. Carter stepped up, Krstic was good, and Frank rotated his players very well.

extremely important win against indy. we need them out of the playoffs so we can get in, so it was extra sweet. it was a win we needed to get, since they are a weak team without JO right now. we got them when they still hadn't fully bounced back since his injury. VC played like we know him, and got a great double-double, and kidd just missed a triple double again. nenad is becoming a top 5 big man in the rookies, he's playing very solidly. good bench contribution again, we need them to get those 15-20 points a game and help out.

a tough win over Indiana has given the Net their longest win streak of the season. A win against Indiana couldn't have come at a better time, moving the Nets up and the Pacers down in a close playoff race.

kdub your name ise so cute and your avatar...
And I wish Nets can beat Celtics..
Celtics is the most hard-to-beat team in the final nets schedule...
JEFFERSON !! COME ON !! COME BACK !!

Another big win for the Nets tonight....

As we all know tonight was the 2nd game of the huge home & home series against a New Jersey opponent for the 8th seed in the playoffs, the Pacers. The Nets took the first game on Sunday, 94-85 brhind 30 point effort from Vince Carter. But inorder for it to truely be a successful push toward a playoff spot the Nets needed to win both games. Early it look like the Pacers, even without Jermaine Oneal were looking to deny the Nets of such success, behind the strong 1st half play of Miller, Jones & Jackson the Pacers took an 8point lead in to halftime. But in the 2nd half the Nets supporting cast step up to supply Vince with some help. New Jersey was able to get strong minutes from Travis Best off the bench along with Cliff Robinson. But the most impressive of the supporting cast had to be the play of Nenad Krstic, who displayed some pretty good post moves against Dale Davis a guy who has lasted a decade plus in this league simply off his ablity to defend the post. But Krstic made some nice moves against him.

One move that stands out is a move Krstic made in the 2nd half, where Dale Davis tried to use the veteran move off backing away from the offensive player, when the offensive player looks for body contact on his spin move. A defensive tacket that Rick Mahorn use to do alot call "pulling the cheer" out on inexpereince post players. If you have followed the Nets closely this year, you will have noticed that defenders often catch Krstic with this move. And Nenad often travels or gets called with the charge. But tonight he was able to keep his body control. And didnt let tacket throw his game off, he still made his drop step moves. And looked good offensive, just another step in the growth of Nenad.

Other then that nice win for the Nets, big win off course. Vince had what is begging to seem like a normal 30+ point effort, including a couple of nice back to the basket moves against Fred Jones in the forth quarter when the Nets went on a 15-3 run to overcome the Pacers lead. And stetch a lead of there own out to 7pts.

New Jersey has some pretty solid test against decent Western Conference teams in the next two. While the Grizzlies arent a Western elite they have played excellent ball under Mike fratello. And now have Pau Gosal back so the Nets frontline will have to put in work for them to be successful. Also coming up on the schedule is the Timberwolves, who are the Western Conference version of Jersey sitting on the playoff door step, loooking to fight their way into an invite. So Jersey has got to find away to set it up even another notch. At worst 1-1 is where they need to be in these next 2.

i expect the nets to get the 7th spot philly is slipping idiani is doing extramemly bad and the magics lost frnacis for 3 game(2 left i think) and tugalo(sp?) who was a great factor for them/ anyways last nites game was great didnt anyone see vinces 360 dunk it didnt count cause there was a foul b4 it and vince just went in and did it it was still nice cause he did it off straight verticil

thanks dragonkid, and nice recap on the game and lookout on that move by krstic, henacy.

Unfortunately, the Nets didn't seem to be able to gain too much ground on that last win against Indiana. Duncan getting injured and Pistons going in a losing funk came at the worst time for the Nets, as Philly beat San Antonio and Indiana beat Detroit.

Important thing is that the Nets didn't fall behind, and is catching up on Orlando who has lost key player Hedo. One game, and one team at a time is what the Nets need (and seem) to focus on. First up, passing Orlando, and then the Nets can really start thining about breaking into the playoff seeds.

Oh.. no .. we lose to Grizzlies... but Nenad play a very good game..Next we must win Timberwolves and...Bobcats( they win two game from magic)...

I hope Jefferson can come back soon...!!!!

Tough loss to Memphis. Don't lose hope, though, the Nets are still on track!

kdub, you wrote something wrong.. Grizzlies is 0.500 team, but you wite we lose to 0.400 team~

RJ said that he will try to play one or two regular season games before the playoff starts if the Nets get in. So he wont have any impact on the actually race to get into the 8th seed unless, it comes down to the very last couple of games which is possible. But dont look for RJ to save the Nets in the race to get in....But once the playoffs start and hopefully, RJ can provide a positive spark.

As for the loss yeah, it was a negative blow. But nothing close to a knockout, it just puts more emphasis on saturday's game vs the Timberwolves, cause the Wolves had played well their last few games and are holding on their last playoff lifeline like we are, so an A games should be expected from them. But realistically I wasnt expecting them to pullout wins against both Memphis & Minny.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DragonKid:</div><div class="quote_post">kdub, you wrote something wrong.. Grizzlies is 0.500 team, but you wite we lose to 0.400 team~</div>

Thanks for the heads up, I corrected it. Although the blueprint is using records that were current at the time of creation. So if teams happen to change from .500 to .400, etc, I won't reflect that.

In terms of the loss, I would have rather loss to Memphis anyways if we were to go 1-1 the rest of the homestand. Losing to struggling Minnesota would feel worse than losing to the winning and stable Grizz.

The problem is that Minny is not struggling anymore. As Henacy said, they are playing hard inorder to get in to the playoffs. If the Nets would have gone 1-1 during this homestand, they would have beat Memphis last night, but since that did not occur, it looks to me that this homestand remains at 0-2. The next games after these however, the Nets really have a great stretch of games to make up ground.

Sixers get into 0.500... we are more hard to catch up with them

Everybody, you are right...Nets falls to 0-2 this home game against west...Damn...
Who can tell me why the two team against us, their some players became so crazy..
J-Will had 8 for 9 shot, Cassel had 10 for 13 shot, but Carter couldn't score so much,
J-Kidd can't make shot, all of our team couldn't shoot 3 pointers...sigh...
3 games behind sixers.....will Nets still get the playoff tickets ? Now I miss Jefferson. We need his defense just like to defense the crazy shooters like Cassel and J-Will last two games !!!!!

Well Iam not mad at the fact we lost seing as the return of Sammy has co-insided with good Timberwolves basketball as of late which is no surprise to me. Iam just dissappointed in the way we lost, for a team with their backs against the wall, the Nets put up no fight, the effort on the backboards was terrible right from the start. I dont understand how Jason Collins can continously let Kandi out work him for rebounds. And this isnt the 1st game it happened either Kandiman had a field day against Collins in the gam,e in Minny earlier this year.

Our lack of a third scoring pressence presented its self again tonight, Minny pretty much did what Memphis did to us defensive which is pack the zone against Carter on the strong side forcing the ball out of his hands, making other guys have to knock down perimeter shots, JV made some early but in the 2nd half he pretty much went south just like everyone else. It would be nice for Rodney Buford to step in and make some shots to bust up some of these Zones teams are throwing at us...But until then for the rest of the season you can count on teams conitously throwing zones and packing it in the lanes to force guys to make outside shots.

Anyway, as expected a difficult night for Krstic, KG never really got off against him. But Krstic just cant stay out of foul trouble right now when matched up against someone with Garnett's versatitly. Can really blam him tho, not to often he will be matched against a 6-11 guy who makes most of his plays starting at the top of the key.

Anyway a big game against the Bobcats coming up a team playing surprisingly well these last few games they just beat the Heat earlier today.

Ok, that was just bad. Lucky for the Nets, Indiana and Orlando lost. But the Nets really need to start pushing themselves more as the season winds down.

Geez, how many dunks did Vince Carter have in the game vs the Bobcats? Well, the Nets needed all of them, as they won a somewhat close game vs Charlotte, and completes a season sweep of Charlotte, and a sweep of all the remaining .300 teams. Now for the rest of the .400 and .500 teams.

The Nets showed the passing game today, and showed it well. They assisted on 34 of 41 made field goals, with Kidd leading the pass first Nets, while Carter lead the offensive explosion. Perhaps showing the Nets strenght and weakness, the Nets were unable to get any points on the board for a while in the fourth quarter when Kidd and Carter went out. But Scalabrine got hot, and the Clippers could only match baskets, and not get more points than they gave up.

A BIG GAME WIN... WE NEED ANOTHER 4 winning streak for 0.500.
Kidd only played 29 minutes..but 13 assists...and two three pointers...
so nice..

not to mention Carters 31 in 33. I wished Zoran had gotten more playing time though.

1I knew once he got injured back in November/December that he would lose his spot in the rotation. The Nets are way to guard heavy right now for a guy to miss 20+ games, and get his same spot back in the rotation. Rodney Buford was playing some of his best basketball of his career before he got injured at the LA game. But his injury allowed other guys to fit back into the rotation like Vaughn and Billy Thomas for awhile. And the only reason he has somewhat gotten back into the rotation is because Billy Thomas' jumpshot really went south. And then Mercer got injured again. But Rodney Buford still doesnt have anything close to the role on the team he had pre-injury. Fact is on a guard heavy team the role player perimeter guys cant afford to get injured cause they spots in the rotation are going to be filled by someone else.

Tonight was a very nice win aside from Vince Carter's 33 including that spectacular play catching the Kidd pass off the glass, my favorite move had to be the "Dream Shake" dropstep move Nenad Krstic made on Mike Moore in the 3rd quarter to get the And1 play. Krstic once again shows us a move that defines his progression as a basketball player. And he is only going to get better.

Nets win a close one at New York, and finally pass Orlando for the 9th seed. They now need to focus on getting past Philadelphia.

Sorry this is so offtopic and everything, but I just needed to find out the standpoint from Raps fans and Nets fans:

Who do you think will win on April 15th?
Keep in mind this is Vince's first game in TO and yes, I'm ashamed to say, he'll get booed like HELL.

Personally I think it's a 50/50 chance.

yea only half game out......and to answer ur question raptors the way i see it is that vince carter will probabaly have a huge game scoring 40+ points to show all the critics in toronto screw u guys i like it better here and u traded me for crap. the game will b close imo im really bad at predicitin winners so im not going to lol

Ok, that was tough to stomach.. ugh.
