Actually MLS is quite a growing sport. Give it some time. Portland will never have another pro team because that would require money. And that is against the rules here.

My father and I have season tickets to the Portland Thunder AFL. They're pretty fun....but yeah, I'm not sure if you can call them a "Pro Sport". Some may disagree with me though.

I tried watching an AFL league game. I just burst out laughing. It was like watching a combo of indoor soccer, NFL and beer league baseball. Low rent ain't the words.

Watching it on TV is NOTHING like being there, trust me. The atmosphere is too small to watch it on TV. Much better seen and experienced in person.
