Big day of basketball! Not only is it the first day of the 2018 NBA Playoffs, and the Trail Blazers first 2018 playoff game; it's also the Commonwealth Games mens basketball gold medal match! Australia v Canada! Tipoff is one hour before the Trail Blazers scheduled start, so I'll be watching the second half of Australia destroying Canada while watching the first half of the Trail Blazers beat New Orleans.

I doubt @speeds will be watching because he won't want to see the third string Australian team embarrass the second string Canadian team as they did in the pool game 95-55. I know @BlayZa won't be watching because New Zealand, who should have been in the gold medal game against Australia, were knocked out in the semi's by Canada.

Of interest to some Trail Blazers fans will be former OSU Beaver Angus Brandt suiting up for Australia. I also spotted former Trail Blazer Ike Diogu playing for his native Nigeria, but without Al-Farouq Aminu, and his brother, Nigeria were knocked out in the quarters by Scotland.

We could really use some of Zachs shots to fall tonight. He has been struggling offensively...at least from 3.

Bazz needs to come to play tonight too.

A huge part of our gameplan is to try to out-rebound you guys so we can get off on the break. We've played with the 2nd fastest pace in the NBA which gives us a lot of mismatches and easy buckets. I think the last time we played, yall had 27 second chance points. That's circled in red marker for the Pels to focus on tonight. If we are unable to get rebounds, and forced to play in the half-court, it'll be a long night for the Pels.

Good post, Pels fan. This is the kind of stuff I want to read from opposing fans, rather than just, "Dame sucks" or whatever. Good take.

I'm more of a Pils fan myself.

Not a chance, although I do think you'll play better. I reckon we'll only beat you by 30 points instead of 40.

We're playing against you in the womens rugby sevens semi final right now. When I started typing this post, you were leading 0-7, now we're leading 14-7.

Since Zach is rookie, I wonder how many minutes he will entrust to Zach in a playoff game against Anthony Davis. We'll see.
 
I'm excited guys!!! One hour to game time!! I feel very good about this series and I think a sweep is in play.

Playoffs give me a level of hype that I would only get before games of my own. It's a nostalgic feeling that I miss, and only Blazer post-season basketball is able to give me that.

I don't think Zach will guard Anthony Davis. They've been playing AD at center a lot recently. I think Zach is a good defender to put on Mirotic. Zach has the height advantage as well as the footspeed to stay in front of Mirotic. If not, he'll probably guard someone like Cheick Diallo or whoever the hell they play at PF (Cunningham...? Miller...?). They have no bench. Zach would possibly be the best player on their bench. They play Emeka Okafor for crying out loud.

Nope. He's been ruled out for Game 1, but his return to practice has me thinking a return for Game 2 is possible. Would love to get him back at home, since we'd have a little more leeway with HCA for him to knock off the rust. Plus, he's someone who feeds off the home crowd, and it could help him get re-acclimated more quickly that returning on the road.
