PLAYOFF SERIES NOTES
• Portland and Denver have faced each other three times previously in the postseason, with the Trail Blazers holding a 2-1 series edge.

• Portland has twice defeated the Nuggets in a seven-game series that starts with Denver holding home-court advantage. The first came when the Trail Blazers defeated the Nuggets 4-2 in the 1977 NBA Western Conference Semifinals. Portland won the NBA Championship that year. The Trail Blazers again defeated the Nuggets in the 2019 NBA Western Conference Semifinals, this time by a 4-3 margin following a series-clinching Game 7 win in Denver.

• The Nuggets took a five-game first round series vs. the Trail Blazers in 1986, 3-1.

• This is Portland's third playoff matchup against a divisional opponent since the Northwest Division was formed in 2004-05. Portland won the two previous series against Oklahoma City and Denver during the 2019 postseason.

CONNECTIONS
• Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony was selected by the Nuggets with the third overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft. Anthony played in 564 games (all starts) over eight seasons with Denver, posting averages of 24.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Anthony is third on the Nuggets all-time scoring list (13,970 points).

• Portland center Jusuf Nurkic began his career in Denver, appearing in 139 games (59 starts) in two and a half seasons while averaging 7.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.06 blocks.

• Denver guard/forward Will Barton started his career in Portland, averaging 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in 144 games (five starts) in two and a half seasons with the Trail Blazers.

PREVIOUS MEETING IN THE SERIES
GAME #1: WIN 123-109

We got the first one and this is no time to be complacent. So let's hope that our team comes out with just as much focus for this second game. Coming back to Portland up 2-0 would be a very strong position but coming back tied 1-1 with them having the most recent win wouldn't feel too great. Go Blazers!!!

Still don't see any reason why Portland shouldn't win game #2. Denver is at such a deficit in the backcourt (could be the worst starting backcourt in recent Playoff memory) that unless Nurk/Kanter give you absolutely nothing and Jokic goes super nuclear and the Blazers get nothing off the bench, the Nuggets just can't keep up.

Denver might have an advantage at the forward spots but as long as MPJ keeps jacking up horrible '3's and Gordon seems somewhat uninvloved, the Blazers should come home up 2-0.

Lower seed wants to win one on the road. Blazers can't be content with that. Denver us capable of winning in Portland. Going up 2-0 would massively tilt the series. S tie gives Nuggets confidence. They will try to make adjustments. Blazers need to be ready.

I predict a close game. So ask GSW about one point games. Or Stanford.

Leave it to Spock for a brilliant analysis. Denver does not have an advantage at forward since they have no forwards who can score or defend. Who was responsible for "guarding" an unguarded Anthony all night? Was Malone even looking at that disaster? Why didn't he suggest that some Nugget guard him? Look, the Nuggets have no answer to anything the Blazers can do and they have nothing to offer themselves except Jokic. But, they can't win with Jokic dribbling around for an easy two or flipping up the occasional three. Other they got nothing on offense and their defense is atrocious. Wave the white flag, Nuggets and save yourselves the embarrassment of getting whacked four times in a row. Even the Wizards at the 8 seed are putting up a better game against the Sixers than the awful Nuggets did. It ain't your fault that you suck, Nuggets, your guys got hurt. So, just wave the white flag and give it up.

how is blazers beating the nuggets considered to be an "upset", do people even know what "upset" means

upset would be if the suns beat the lakers, if celtics beat the nets, if wizards beat the 76ers and if mavs beat the clippers

all other series can go either way and it wouldnt be an upset

This has just become such an interesting phenomenon around here. The SAME EXACT people who have been just absolutely killing our Blazers this year for EVERYTHING from our defense to our coach are the EXACT SAME ones who, since we found out we were playing Denver, are preaching how we should win this series hands down, no questions asked. How we are favorited and anything but a sweep is an embarrassment? I’m so confused by this. Why in the fuck if we have the WORST coach in the NBA and the WORST defensive EVER......should we make the playoffs, let alone “easily beat” the #3 seed? PLEASE somebody explain. According to most, we weren’t even supposed to make the playoffs, right?
Said it before, say it again......preseason I think I said 42 wins, 7th or 8th seed and a 1st round exit.

If any of you are related to Clowns, I hope my post wasn’t offensive enough to make you contact my employers and try to ruin my family’s lives.

Like I said in the last thread, I don't want to see posters who rip the Blazers all game then say they knew the Blazers were going to win. Those posters need to have more faith in this team.

He has a point. I have only been here a short time but there are some who are expecting greatness and preaching that they could run the team better.

People need to chill and enjoy the game. Whether we have a small lead or are down...it's a game of runs. We went down 9 in the third and people were crying about the gaming being over.

I get coming in after the game and saying these are the things we could have done better. Even complaining. But during the game...let's not overreact.

Nuggets won 5 more games than us. Nuggets are 3 seed. Nuggets went 13-5 after Murray injury. That’s why the Blazers winning is an upset.

But in their defense, it’s not like basketball is a game of runs at all.

You were right about 42 wins but we got 6 seed and will not lose in first round. But you’re right about the clowns.

But in their defense, it’s not like basketball is a game of runs at all.

There are definitely some games that look like diarrhea to me
