Journalists need to make a living

They could try analysis instead of being gossip columnists. Seriously, there are posters in this forum (yourself included) who offer more education and thoughtful analysis than 90% of the press.

Just got back to the hotel. About to attack this game thread. My boy Russ was just at another level tonight. And just between you and me, a player mentioned to me how they weren't happy with PG13 and that dunk at the end of the game.
Game 4 will be a battle!

I don't like those that much. Forces the action literally and to far towards to sideline, and makes it hard to turn downhill due to traffic (even though he was still able to do so once or twice).
It was really effective. OKC had no answer

The one I remember was set on the side and allowed Dame and CJ to get middle.

The dude from the oklahoman asks really good questions if you listen that are basketball related but Russ wont talk to him because he asked a few questions he didnt like.

Blame today's NBA fan.

Less and less of them care about the actual basketball happening on the floor.

They are required to talk to them....but do you think they do so willingly? Do you think anything worthwhile comes out of the process?
Yes for the NBA press is how they drive ratings, which equals revenue. The NBA needs the media, press, people to write about them to continue to make money. They need the players talking to them to put the NBA brand out in public. Thats why its “worthwhile” for the NBA and the players.

I have absolutely no idea what was wrong with the question about the game changing. Childish. He is the example I show to my son of how not to act. In the words of Barkley he is "not a role model" but there are probably millions of kids that think that is ok because they see him act like that. Thank God my son idolizes Lillard.

Personally I get it nothing comes from the press conferences that moves the “needle”, and its all kind of stupid drama / storyline crap. I get all of that.

I just think a few players Russ especially act like its such a burden to have to spend 10 minutes of his day talking to the media and I think its immature and ridiculous how he handles himself with them.

The paychecks he enjoys comes from a lot of mutual agreements with the companies those journalists represent. Its a two way street why is it so hard to just put up with it for a few minutes and leave.

That missed double dribble was un-fucking-fathomable. Seriously they were waiting to call a foul on us rather than watching Schroeder. All three of them missed it. WTF is going on with this bullshit? Terry please call it out and just pay the fine

Do you feel that way when members of the Blazers don't want to talk to Quick or Canzano? Most of these contentious relationships start on the media side.
I don't know of any Blazers being obnoxious and saying "next question" and a playoff post game press conference. What did I miss? They may not WANT to talk, but they do talk.

If it goes 7 i pay for pizza and beer or whatever you like and we watch a 2nd round road game at your place.

If we win in 5, you pay.

That keeps it a mostly win-win wager where we still win with food!
Why would I make that bet? I want us to win in 5. I just think it is "likely" going 7. We'll see. You can come over whenever you want.

OKC PR personnel enable it. Was a big piece on grantland a few yrs back. Chris Haynes et al also swear by it, says their PR people are the worst and let players run amok.

Alright, I skimmed. Not a TON of breakdowns. I think the Thunder were rewarded for taking it to the hoop. I believe thats why they had the huge FT advantage. We cut back on out TOs, we win this game tonight.

I think there’s a difference between taking it to the hoop (like Dame did) and taking it at the hoop and running into the defender and getting the call every time (like George does). Dame got bodied so much and they never called it. He’s just amazing at taking the contact and still making the shot.

Pretty clear to me this goes 7. Line is already out for Sunday and OKC is -6.5. I think both teams hold at home and that game 7 will be incredible.

I totally agree. This is a series I think all the home teams will win. So I’m thinking Blazers in 7

Yep. Even poor Anfernee Simons got slammed to the floor on a drive. No call. He was like "what?"

Another thing I really Love Shrouder as a backup PG. He is so much better than Evan Turner it’s not even close
