PLAYOFF SERIES NOTES

• This will be the first ever meeting between the Trail Blazers and Clippers in the NBA Playoffs. Los Angeles is one of three Western Conference teams that Portland has never matched up against in the postseason (Golden State, New Orleans).

• By earning the fifth seed, the Trail Blazers have finished in the top-5 in the Western Conference in three consecutive seasons for the first time since doing so in four straight seasons from 1989-90 to 1992-93.

• The Clippers represent Portland’s closest geographical postseason opponent since the 2002 NBA Playoffs, when the Trail Blazers played the Los Angeles Lakers in the opening round. Since then, Portland has matched up with Dallas (twice), Houston (twice), San Antonio (twice), Memphis and Phoenix.

• In NBA postseason history, teams that lost the regular-season series versus their playoff opponent are 158-387 in those postseason series (45-140 in the opening round since 1983-84).

PREVIOUS MEETINGS IN THE SERIES
GAME #1: Loss 95-115

GAME #2: Loss 81-102

A MUST WIN game for Portland. Down 2-0 is historically daunting. Down 3-0 is historically impossible. Dame is going to have to make open looks when he gets them and Aminu/Harkless are just going to have to make shots. If not, it's too late to continue statues quo. Try anything. That means Vonleh, Crabbe, Montero.....CJ wasn't hitting until late in the Memphis series either. It might not turn it around but you might find someone who can step up if those Amikless can't.

Last year it was CJ and Meyers stepping out of the shadows. The year before against the Spurs, the only game they won was when The People's Champ stepped up.

I'll be going to the game with my son tonight. With all of the discussion regarding whether it would have been better for this franchise to have not made the playoffs, I'll tell you right now, I'm glad we have the opportunity to watch and root for our team again tonight! This is what being a fan is all about. Playoffs!!!

I predict the Portland Trail Cokers will smash the LA Pepsis. Too bad, though....I enjoy the Wild Cherry Pepsi made with real sugar. I may enjoy the Mexican Coke in glass bottles even more.

Does Mexican coke come in powdered form?

Mexican Coke is the best, you can get a can of that and Mexican Sprite for a dollar each at Fred Meyer down here.

A can?! A CAN?!?!

The only way to drink cane sugar Mexican Coke is out of the 16oz glass bottle. There is a difference in taste.

They're in glass bottles, I misspoke. Calm down, you're hysterical.

So I no longer have plans (I had to back out, it's been a super rough day anxiety wise at work), so I can at least listen to the game tonight while I relax!

maan. Again. Neither. lol.

Give me other. Or I dont drink carbonated drinks or Fruit juices all the way or. fuck soda gimme a beer!!!!
lol. :)

Hey, I haven't drunk any soda in the past 10+ years, but I still remember that I preferred the taste of Coke over Pepsi.

And then there was 4-23-2016....

MY ADJUSTMENTS:

OFFENSIVE:
-Set on pick n pops with gaurds. (CJ on Dame, vice versa). If they trap Dame, it opens up CJ. Put the 2 Forwards in the corners (shorter 3s). If the forwards defender goes to the wide open guard who got the ball off the pick n pop, the forward needs to cut baseline for a dunk, dishoff the the big on the opposite block, or to the opposite corner to the other forward, who could shoot or proceed to rotate the ball around the arc as the defense scrambles.

-Run the court harder. We need easy buckets. Some of those will come off better defense.

-Crash 3 guys to the offensive glass every shot. Again, we need easy buckets. The Clippers aren't beating us off of running the break, as our halfcourt defense has been so bad that they don't even look to push.

DEFENSIVELY:
-Take the fastest route around off-ball screens, instead of always trailing. You have to get in front of Redick to bother his shot which makes me wonder why we trail. If we can beat him to the spot he won't get shots off.

-Bring the big up on pick n rolls. There was countless times in game 2 where Rivers, Crawford, and Paul got easy, wide open looks from the midrange, add the big sagged to protect the rim.

-Bring the big up on off ball screens. While Redick runs around DeAndre screens, Plumlee sits under the basket doing absolutely nothing. He should be denying the pass to Redick. The Clippers counter to this is DeAndre slipping the screen for backdoor alley-oops. I think we could defend this, as Aminu and Harkness are both lengthy and athletic enough to rotate back and tip the pass. The pass on this Redick pin-down is usually coming from the 3pt line, so it's a longer and thus, easier pass to tip.

HUSTLE:

-We've lost almost every 50/50 ball this series.

-We've been out hustled on contested rebounds.

-There's been multiple times where weve jogged back on defense which resulted in its being out of position for first and especially secondary breaks. Dame has almost walked back on defense multiple times. Can't have that from your leader.

What analysis! Posting stats you surely found from some some source other than yourself, then, merely copied it to this thread, and followed with the deep, insightful quote of "Interesting". How original!

Tunchi trying to do his best to jinx the Blazers... Stupid Rockets fans.
