Enough drama...this game was just a bump in the road in a good series where the number 2 seed has the edge on the number 3 seed....we win the next two and everybody will be gushing again...Go Blazers! Stotts does not make anybody miss wide open shots or free throws...I like the guy. We're just down 3-2 and need two in a row. I'll stand by this franchise, roster and coaching staff anyday in a stacked western conf.....Denver is just fucking good and deep...they're a tough out..good for them. we face elimination...that will tell the story. Lose this series and it's nothing to be ashamed of..I like our chances

I honestly think this series is kind of over, it seems like the Blazers hit their mental / physical limit and just have nothing in the tank. Would love to be wrong but my gut says this one even if it makes it to game 7 is kind of out of reach. Still a heck of a run without Nurkic and with Kanter playing with one arm.
Nah. They might not win game six but you will not see them roll over and quit in a close out game on their own court.
Not this team. No way.
I'm kind of amazed you of all people would post that.
You should be ashamed of yourself.

It's always an excuse. Last year it was "Oh, Aminu's shooting" when he shot 43% on three 3s a game. Defensively, sure, but Stotts needs to try something different on Millsap (Kanter was definitely not the answer). Try doubling, fronting and trying to intercept the over the top pass... Try something. It's his job to figure that out, not me.

The bigger issue I have is the offense getting shut down every postseason by the same defensive scheme. Last year it was "Anthony Davis"... Now it's... Nikola Jokic? 6'8 Paul Millsap?Seriously?
Well how many teams continue to do well without their 2nd best player. If Milsap or Murray were hurt this series is different (a lot different), How about Siakam in Toronto. Weve seen Houston without CP3 go from 3-2 to 3-4. Even GS would have a hard time without Curry and they have several other all stars. Im not saying its an excuse that getting wrecked the way they did tonight is just well Nurkic is hurt so it doesnt matter. I am saying that the circumstances they’re playing with are much different because of Nurkic being hurt. It changes a lot about what they do. For one thing the Nurkic / Dame PNR was one of the most dangerous combinations in all of the NBA this year. Kanters been huge for the Blazers and his effort is appreciated but their offense doesnt get the same looks with him as they did with Nurkic.

I mean I dont know, I thought we’d see more ML before tonight to make it hard for Jokic thats a coaching thing. Im surprised they havent found a way to get defensive rebounds, or when they do get an offensive board to not let a Denver player take the ball right baxk. Also kind of on coaching.

I honestly think without Nurkic they just dont have the size they need, now could Stotts be more creative? Sure.

Im not... I never said they’d roll over and die, though from the looks of it they did tonight. I just watch them and it seems like Denver is playing with so much more energy than them the last 6 quarters or so.

I wish I had faith that they have the pride to stand up and win another game..... but this is the team that got swept last year.

no, it's not...our bench is better, our starters defense is better..Nurk is better...Jake is better...I'm not watering it down...last year was Bazz, Ed and Patty C...this season it's Seth, Hood and Kanter….don't know how you compare those rosters

This would be my critic moment on Stotts for this game? There have been many but of course one poster doesn't seem to realize that.
Why did he wait for the Blazers to be down 25 points to put Leonard in? We all watched what happened. A number of posters on this board all called for Meyers to get some minutes in this game.
He frustrates Jokic without question. He can shoot threes. It opens up looks for other shooters. He passes well and sets good screens.
I am not an NBA coach and i don't know the situation but i would welcome seeing Meyers Start next game and Give Kanter just as many minutes in a backup role.
Let Meyers set the tone with Jokic.

One thing is for certain. If you watch the game again look at the way Kanter is shooting and trying to rebound. There is no question he is playing with essentially one arm.
The Nuggets know this and when he comes down with a rebound they immediately go after a slap or steal. Sometimes snatching the ball right out of his hands.
If you have ever had a bad shoulder (I have had one many times) you know you lose the strength to press inwards clamping together.
The Nuggets are taking advantage of that. They could not do that to Meyers.

Kanter literally only has one functioning arm.

Nurk is out (not sure why you mentioned him)

Jake is Mr DNPCD

And at the core of it all, it's Dame/CJ/Aminu/Harkless. It's basically teh same damn team, and it's the same guys that need to step up.

One thing I did not understand at all was Malone playing Jokic , Murray, Barton and Harris against our 3rd string at the end...unnecessary dumb risk when the game was out of reach anyway
I didn't understand Stotts waiting so fucking long to sit Dame, or waiting so long to get the bench guys in the game.

The only time you ever give him "Props" is if the team wins and you have no other option because people on this board will shut you straight down.
A coach can coach a good game and have a great game plan and still lose. But i understand you cannot quite see that yet.
A person doing anything can do something correct. They can make the right decisions and still not be successful every time. It's called Life on Life's terms. Coaches are human. They must deal with all the same issues everyone else does.
No, I give props when Terry does a good job coaching. Funnily enough, it does usually coincide with winning, so I see where you got confused. Better than you, who call out people for being unbalanced or unfair when they will praise him and criticize him depending on the situation, while you refuse to ever criticize him.

I've literally said "Terry came up with a good gameplan". Coaches can also fail to come up with a good gameplan or they can come up with a bad one. Have you ever admitted that? Exactly.

You have no angle on me right now. Stop trying.

He gave it a last gasp at a run and it wasn't happening...I don't understand why Meyers isn't getting half of Kanter's minutes at this point.
Or Collins, he was solid. He's what we need defensively right now.

I'm amazed Stotts didn't have CJ and Dame attack more. I know the screens haven't been top notch (use Meyers for that), but have your guards attack the rim downhill with high screens. That's simply the most effective way to battles Jokic and Millsap being as effective as they are in later game situations. It was so obvious that they've should've kept doing it last game. They did it even less this one. I sincerely hope they'll make that adjustment. With Nurk in here they would've closed the series by now, also enabling a rested Kanter to attack the inside when Dame and CJ don't drive.

I guess this year's team and last year's you define differently from me....injuries and minutes weren't my point...I said this season's team is better than the team that got swept....and it is...won more games...got to the second round...won two second round games...but hey...it's all good

At this point, I'd be fine with more isolation by Dame, because all we're doing is pick n roll and running him off handoffs and bringing that extra defender in to trap him.
