Does anyone have a PLAYSTATION network username?Mine is dachanghi. I just bought my 60 gb PS3 over the weekend and only like 3 people I know have one. I only have 1 game right now but for future reference (like when Madden/NCAA 08 come out), I want to at least have a mini community to play with. haha

Yeah but I unplugged it and everything after I got my PS3. I might move it to the upstairs TV.

How good is the network? As good as the XBOX Live network? Better? Worse?

I think it's decent enough so far. For just less than 2 months off the shelves and about a 1 million user base, things aren't perfect yet.The interface (which is basically on the home screen) is very user friendly and it lists your friends for you. I'm going to play around with it even more this weekend. The Playstation Store is a little limited right now but it's expanding. Demos are offered for free. If you have DSL, I don't recommend downloading demos. Takes too long. Sign up is a chore if you don't have a spare USB keyboard around but I got it to work.Considering it's free, I'll take it.I haven't really had time to play with it considering I have school but I like everything about it so far. Plus, right now I don't have a multi-player game. I have a pretty cool samurai game, Genji Days of the Blade. Although the camera is poor, graphics and gameplay are what I would expect from a next-gen game.I'm debating whether to get Madden 07. I'm thinking more about waiting to get Madden 08. I might get Call of Duty 3 and/or Resistance: Fall of Man. But I need to see how much money I have available to spend.Once more games start rolling out and the full capabilities of SIXAXIS become utilized, I think the PS3 will pick up steam.I also love how light the wireless controller is.The CELL processor is really that powerful. While I was playing Genji, I noticed that load times and save times were considerably faster than the PS2. It was amazing just how quick it was cause I was playing the PS2 a day earlier. When you pop in a PS2 disk, you notice how much smoother it runs. I think where the real value of the PS3 is is actually in the movies department. I borrowed a Blu-Ray movie this week (Crash) and watched it on Blu-Ray. The full HD of the PS3 and Blu-ray is quite amazing. When I then compared it to the DVD I have, it was noticeably better. It's not like fuzzy to crisp clarity. but the small details in a movie make it that much better.I havent' tried the Bluetooth capabilities yet. Not sure what to use it for to be honest. hahaI think PS3 is an investment worth making. It mi g ht be because I put $600 down on the thing but the power is incredible. Hardware is amazing. Graphics are quite good and once the small bugs and things are fixed and game developers use the full power of the PS3, it'll pick up steam. Franchise games like Tekken, Resident Evil, Grand Theft Auto will definately boost sales despite the 360 stealing some titles. SIXAXIS has potential to change how games work especially in the racing and sports department.

Playstation Network is perfectly fine. XBOX Live wasn't perfect when it debuted, they took user imput and made it better. The same will happen for the PSN.Plus you don't have to pay a fee for it. How much do you really expect? haha

I'll probably pick one up once it either becomes widely available or when the price drops. Havent decided how long I'm gonna wait on it yet.

I'm planning on picking one up as soon as I come across a lucky one. My friend tells me this one GameStop here has them all the time on Sunday and no one knows about them. I'll look into it, but I plan on getting the $500 one.

I went to Best Buy this Saturday after the game and they were assembling the mountain of PS3s as I walked by. My friend got one before we left the mall. However, at a Circuit City in the morning, they said they sold out within the first 2 hours in the morning with a shipment of like 40.They're available in bigger numbers these days, you just need to be lucky and go to the right store at the right time.As for the Wii, it's hard to track those down. The Best Buy that had the PS3s said that they were selling faster because they were cheaper and came with a free game, something parents liked. In terms of sale, the Wii is winning (minus the 1 year head start for the 360). But with the higher price of the PS3, the PS3 has actually "made" more money.

I ended up getting the $600 PS3 yesterday. I think it will def be worth it in the long run.

Sony and Microsoft might take in more money, but more of the money that Nintendo takes in will be profit.

Punisher, whats your network name?

I played the PS3 over at a friend's house; it's fun, but I'll take the 360 just because of the 50 times better online options and interpretted (sp?) designs.Though, if I get a PS3 someday (which is a big if), I'll add you, Chang.

Yea I got a PS3 a few weeks after it came out. I have to go online and play because of school and sports i havent had time to set up everything for online. When i get everything set up I will post my username and everything. As for games i currently have Need For Speed: Carbon, NBA 2k7 and Tiger Woods 2007.

BUMP. I wish PSN would come out with a Gamertag type of thing online so you can have a banner to post your info in pic form.

Xbox 360 destroys Playstation 3. Playstation 3 is just like Dreamcast it's ahead of it's time. If PS3 were to come out in 2-3 years it would be the top console on the shelves by far. It's sad but somebody has to lose the console war and it looks like it'll be PS3.Did anyone have Dreamcast? lol

Dreamcast wasn't supposed to win any kind of console war. Besides, how the hell is it like Dreamcast? PS3 sold a lot of consoles, and what is everyone going to do? New consoles aren't going to come out in the next 2 years, and Microsoft is too retarded to sign contracts with companies to produce games. When 360 has like 25 more games released in the next 3 years, tell me which system you'd rather have.

You pal are a nut case. You no nothing about Sports or Video Games so stfu. Jelously is a powerful thing, and you are jelous.25 games? LMFAO! Sorry, but 360s lineup of games destorys PS3. Resistance? LMAO Was that pile of crap suppose to compete with Gears of War? And PS3 and Xbox 360 basically have contracts split with all the games coming out. And the games that they don't have contracts for are the ones that sell twice the copies PS3 games sell(Halo, Gears of War, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Too Human, Bioshock etc) What is Sonys answer to those games? Ratchet and Clank? Who even buys that garbage. As for console sales, PS3 has sold about a Million. That's not even half of Wiis and is about 10% of 360s so sorry, you again are wrong......AGAIN Maybe next time, maybe next time.

Which with the 360 being out for 16 months, is right on the same pace as the 360...PS3 has been out for 4 months, was just released in Europe and Australia (for 100-300 more expensive) and you're already calling the console wars? PS2 wasn't even declared winner until 2 years after every console had been out.Did the 360 have a good lineup of games for the first 6 months when it came out? Not at all. Producers have had to work with the PS3 a whole 16 months behind the 360 and are only just figuring out how to use the PS3s power. The PS3 has Heavenly Sword (highly praised game at E3), Metal Gear SOlid 4, Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy vs. XIII, Killzone 2, Tekken 6.Also, Playstation HOME is also coming out. Much like Second Life, a lot of virtual users plan to buy the PS3 to take advantage of HOME.Blu-Ray is killing HDDVD in the format wars. Once Blu-Ray completely destroys HDDVD (outsold 2:1), sales for the PS3 will pick up even more since is the best Blu-Ray player out there. And the Wii has to sell 3 to equal 1 PS3 being sold money wise. Revenues have been exactly the same for both companies. And the PS3 is starting to make a profit since productions costs have drastically decreased. When HDTVs finally hit a majority of homes, again, the PS3 will have an advantage since it has the best next-gen technology available. Only 25% of homes have an HDTV in the US. Only 15% in Europe.Just another thing I'll add, Stanford University is using the PS3 processing power for medical research. It's not just a gaming machine, universities can use it's superior technology in class and make it an educational tool. If this trend catches on, major colleges will be buying PS3s out their ass to make their mathematics and science departments "state-of-the-art."360 is coming out with a 120 GB 360 with Wi-Fi but no built-in HDDVD. Price tag will be right under the 20GB PS3 with built-in Blu-ray and Wifi.

(I'm not saying this, I know a guy who makes video games for a company and whatever).Where do your get your 2.65 PS3's being sold?

WOW! Tekken! Final Fantasy! Sorry, but those games only relate to a small audience. And nobody buys Blu-Rays or cares about Blue Rays. And I honestly could care less if there HD DVD player is outside the Xbox, all that matters is REGULAR DVD's are KILLING Blu-Ray discs and 360 plays those. And another thing, you still didn't provide an example of GREAT games. Sorry but your little "Tekken" and "Killzone" don't compete with Halo and Gears of War.

.

Um Final Fantasy has sold 68 million copies (what a small audience!). Gran Turismo, 44 million (WOW EVEN SMALLER for just 4 games!). Metal Gear Solid, 18.4 million (3 games!).I get my info from Wikipedia. The same place where I'm assuming that Knightz got his info since it says 360 has sold 10 million+.Sure we lost Grand Theft Auto to dual platforming but GTA fans that don't own a 360 will get the Playstation version or comp version since the controls will be the same. And do you really think that DVDs are going to keep continuing to have success? Everyone is waiting for the format wars to end (meaning when price drops) and analysts believe that by Christmas, Blu-ray will have such a lead on HDDVD, it will win the format wars. But btw, everyone said that DVDs would never catch on. DVDs basically became the standard with help from PS2 sales (like with the PS3, the PS2s DVD playback capability made it popular when stand-alone DVD players were 300-400 dollars and movies were $20-30; deja vu?). I'm assuming you're one of the idiots that thought that DVD would never overtake VHS. Underestimate gaming systems with movie capabilities much? And one more thing, PS3 hasn't been through a full-fledged holiday season with console availability. 360 has already had a full holiday system with availability. And btw, Gears of War sold 3 million copies in a year. Kingdom Hearts sold 1 million copies in 4 weeks.

Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. Go to nextgenwars.com That's the most accurate site on the Web.And, Final Fantasy has been out for 10+ years and has around 15 games name. I would hope you could sell 50+ Million copies of a game series that has 12+ titles.

And Might I add that Playstation has been around ALOT longer then Xbox, and Xbox has dominated since.Sony is for gamer geeks and anime heads. Sony brainwashes comsumers to by there underachiving lame products.

Nextgenwars.com is simply a forum basically. It's not more reliable than Wikipedia. At least Wikipedia is user checked often.XBOX has never dominated. Not even close. We don't even have to go back to PSOne to say that PS2 completely owned everyone. PS2 has sold 100 million+ and is still selling while XBOX sold 25 million and has since been discontinued. PSOne sold 100 million+ as well. Must be A LOOOOOOOOT of geeks and anime heads out there...

Must be, because Playstation is a trash system with Trash games. It's sold because "Sony" is a massive brand name. Half the people on this earth don't know that Microsoft owns Xbox. If it was "Sega Playstation" I can gaurentee or simply just "Playstation" no "Sony" they wouldn't even have half the sales they have. I also might add that sales really have nothing to do with the actual product. 50 Cent's "The Massacre" was one of the worst CD's in recent memory and sold 4+ Million. Does that mean The Massacre was one of the best albums ever? Aboslutley not.

Funny thing. The Massacre got good reviews from the Rolling Stones, New York Times, LA Times, E! Weekly, Village Voice, and Vibe.Another funny thing. Despite the Sony brand name, Sony isn't the most highest profiting electronics maker out there. And yes, sales represent the actual product. It means the consumer is willing to spend money on something. That alone is the key to running a successful business.
