I gotta call this out. Sorry man.

There was another person here wishing people dead on the regular.
When i pushed back the bulk of the forum who commented, got on me instead of the guy wishing people dead.
What type of double standards exists here?

When is it okay for a left leaning forum member to state he wishes certain people would die in a serious manner, but not not okay for another member who slams both left and eight to make a joke about someone not being dead yet?

where were the voices telling this left leaner he is wrong for wanting people to die? Other than mine?

Sometimes the double standards of this place rear up such an ugly head it gets just as disturbing as a comment from a member wanting someone dead.

We should be better than fox news and cnn, but really in the ot, its no different. Hasty judgments without all the facts, ignoring one parties egregiousness while slamming the other for the same thing..

This OT can be a depressing reality check on human psyche and behavior.
I need to stay out…
Yeah... Still think it would be a much better world without Mitch McConnell... I'm not disappointed that he didn't die. But I'm not relieved either...

In contrast to Florida and Tennessee who want to hurt people who are not rich straight cis white Christian conservative men, Michigan repealed the 19th century anti abortion law, extended civil rights for LGBTQ people, expanded gun background checks and repealed anti union laws.

Everyone is free to think as they feel about wanting others dead.

but if people are gonna call it out, lets be consistent about it, is all im saying.
No one jumped to my defense when i pushed back against another poster here on this topic. Most who commented jumped to his defense and painted a picture of me having the issue.
Consistency minimizes hypocrisy.

Some people cause a lot of suffering. If they were no longer able to do that it could be viewed as a positive thing.

I totally understand that point of view. Regardless of who is saying it.

Now, if that person is wrong about the facts of the deceased causing suffering that's a different conversation.

Who else wished someone dead? It's not against the rules, but it is messed up in my mind to wish someone dead. I don't wish people dead or talk bad about the dead. Bad karma. It's also crass and churlish.

Would the world be a better place without certain people in it? Probably. Should we wish them dead? Should we celebrate when they are gone? Questionable and arguable.

Is it ok to wish people dead? I think if one is to do that, there should be good reason. I too understand the argument if someone causing a lot of suffering, dying and no longer being able able to carry out that suffering being a positive thing. I think the easy example is Hitler. Would it have been wrong to wish him dead? Arguable. Was the world a better place for his death? Yes. The suffering and deaths of millions ended with his death.

Well said.

We're not talking the "right" or the "left". We're talking about you and wishing another human being dead. Quit trying to rationalize your truly unkind comment. It's one thing to laugh at another's unfortunate misstep, but quite another thing to wish a man dead. Oh, and by the way, I have no party, just my own brain and conscience. And if you want to call out the "hatred that seems to be all there is coming from both Democrats and Republicans" then you're obviously no better than them when you make such a stupid comment. Two wrongs don't make a right. Check your arrogance and be better than those you so bitterly criticize.

I agree with pretty much all of this. But wasn’t there a part of you that wished Trump got violently ill when he got Covid?

death? No. I don’t wish death upon my worst enemy. Even though I really have no true ‘enemies’

I admit there are times when I wish someone or other would croak. We all have baser instincts. Recognize as such.

When I hear anti women's rights women talking about virtuous women aren't harassed or raped .... even then my most base instincts can't wish rape on anyone. Maybe a bad scare.
We seem to have trouble talking about good things!

I just think that wishing people dead is wrong. Agreed the world can be a better place with the omission of some evil humans like Hitler, but is the thing.
Sometimes as a society/government, we must choose the lesser of two evils, so to speak. We should never be proud or gloat about the decisions having to be made.
I wish those decisions never had to be made, but sometimes they do. We should never wish to have to make those decisions. We should deal with them as they arise.

I wish kkk members dead
I wish people of color dead
I wish Jews dead
I wish Russians dead
I wish Ukranians dead
I wish Hitler dead
I wish Trump and his supporters dead
I want antivaxers dead
And on
And on
And on

bad precedents. There is far more that unites us as humans, than divides us. Even in politics. Yet major media and social network outlets want us to believe the opposite and push this division of hatred.
We, as humans must not…can not fall under this hateful umbrella. We must push back with love…even in the face of having to make that tough decision.
We should never wish for it. Only learn from it.

all my opinions of course. Walking around voicing the want of death to others, to me is very destructive and manipulative.
Two wrongs do not make right, even if three lefts do. ;)

Just imagine how different our society might be if news outlets pushed positive stories to the front instead of the back?

And with that said, maybe @SlyPokerDog wants to move some of these posts to the rock bottom thread? Keep this one positive in hopes of a better tomorrow? I will allow you to if you so deem needed. Lol!

I am not a violent person, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that I wish Nazis dead. And it's not something I would apologize for.

If there are 500 innocent lives on this side that will be ended by the actions of the 1 life on that side I'll wish the one dead.
