I am Rondo's biggest fan, but Fisher was arguably better than Rondo in that series. Rondo wasn't even being guarded for most of the series, plus his FT numbers were historically terrible.
No argument there, but Rondo is clearly a better PG.
We just saw it again. Nobody would argue that Fisher is superior to Rondo, but guess who won? That's right.

In the Lakers case the triangle and Kobe function as "point guards." You still need somebody or some mechanism to set the offense and there's nothing overrated about that.
Which elite PG "addition" has won an NBA title for their team in recent years. I'll extend it to which elite PG has won a title since Chauncey Billups, who is no longer an elite PG?

Led all scorers with an average 24.5 points on 57.1% shooting from the field to lead the Spurs to a 4-0 sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers. First European-born player to win.
Tony Parker...in 05' and 07' when he was NBA finals MVP.....

Parker wasn't an "addition", though.
The Lakers won the title with a broken-down, over-rated center. I guess that means the Blazers are a team of destiny!

Why does it matter how or when a point guard was added to a team?
I keep hearing how Portland needs the addition of an elite PG to put them over the top. History says the opposite...
