We just saw it again. Nobody would argue that Fisher is superior to Rondo, but guess who won? That's right.

I am Rondo's biggest fan, but Fisher was arguably better than Rondo in that series. Rondo wasn't even being guarded for most of the series, plus his FT numbers were historically terrible.

No argument there, but Rondo is clearly a better PG.

Oh yeah, I obviously agree. But he needs to spend 3-4 hours a day working on his jumpshot or he will never become any better than he is now.

In the Lakers case the triangle and Kobe function as "point guards." You still need somebody or some mechanism to set the offense and there's nothing overrated about that.

I think Kobe overrides Fisher v. Rondo.

Nash seemed to do the trick for the Suns until they met up with Kobe. Boston took down Clevland and Orlando . . . because of the PG? Take Kobe and the Lakers out of the equation and the star PGs led their teams pretty far this season.

That's you're argument?

Rondo has to work on his free throws, my dad cannot understand how he doesn't make them. Every other PG in the league does. :(

+1.

I'll ask it again, since it was never answered last week. Which elite PG "addition" has won an NBA title for their team in recent years. I'll extend it to which elite PG has won a title since Chauncey Billups, who is no longer an elite PG?

I call bullshit and here is why. I didn't believe it at first, but the other day a site put up the listing of top ranked guard tandems in playoff history. The #1 combination was Kobe and Fisher. All time. Plus I would also remind you I don't consider Rondo elite. Very goood, but not elite. He can't hit an outside shot. If he can hit an outside shot, then he will be elite.

How the fuck can someone who has been playing basketball for so many years and is in the NBA not shoot a free throw or jump shot? Especially a point guard. It is absolutely ridiculous and makes me not like him for some reason.

:tsktsk:

Tony Parker...in 05' and 07' when he was NBA finals MVP.....

Led all scorers with an average 24.5 points on 57.1% shooting from the field to lead the Spurs to a 4-0 sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers. First European-born player to win.

The Lakers won the title with a broken-down, over-rated center. I guess that means the Blazers are a team of destiny!

When Roy becomes as good as Kobe, we can revisit this argument.

Camby won't be starting for Portland. Portland will be starting an under-rated, stud center named Oden. So they're ahead of LA there. :)

I keep hearing how Portland needs the addition of an elite PG to put them over the top. History says the opposite...

Portland needs the addition of an elite anything, if that comes internally so be it. History says that period.
