Dudley is just campaigning; I don’t give a shit what his opinion is, nor should anyone involved. He doesn’t have a job here.
I mentioned it because someone posted a interview with an old has been reporter where he spewed the same thing, that and was in the mercury article. Even though Im not a fan of him and never was as player either, especially since his signing cursed this team way back. However, I think he was right in some of his comments, which he is entitled too. like him or not.

I’m doubtful he’ll seek out and listen to advice. Guys like this usually don’t
He is already on record saying that Cuban has been advising him throughout this process. They've been friends for liek 25 years or something.

I wish if people want to take a negative point of view, it would at least be informed.

Fair. I also think neither man is particularly wise. People who make “buy an NBA franchise” money typically either got lucky with timing or were willing to do horrible crimes to get it… usually both. But because they’re now rich, most of them think they had some special smarts to get their success. Typically this is not the case.

My fear about new ownership? I’m afraid Dundon thinks he somehow earned his position through smarts and guile and will run the franchise like he is somehow as smart as he thinks he is. Which nobody is, but especially not billionaires.

Throughout the process of buying a team and listening while running a team are different. To me at least.

Almost always a sponsor foots the bill for the cost of the t-shirts in return for their logo being on it. Not something the owner/team pays for. Examples are Moda and Toyota on past t-shirts here in Portland.
Can't Tom get Panda to sponsor shirts?

And if he can't, would it really be that much for a new owner to cover this time, and then make sure we have a sponsor next year?

Seems cheap. Out of touch.

*Edit* Almost like trying to run off the fans...

It cracks me up people are actually upset about not getting a cheap t-shirt that in a year will be collecting dust in your drawer or a lawn mowing shirt.
Who wants to wear a shirt with a big company logo on it anyway? I love my Trail Blazers t-shirts, but I'm not wearing one that also has a Toyota, Moda, etc logo on the sleeve. 🤷‍♂️

A weird symptom of our team being owned by a kindly old man who happened to be the fourth richest man in the world at the time is assuming we get a little present from Uncle Paul when the team does well.
Come now. He was 65 when he died, not 90. Sad he never got to be an old man. When he bought the team he was barely older than the players.

I used to think the shirts were neat, but in a kind of "well, the rest of the league does it!" sorta way. They were always small and cheap and honestly, I've never worn any of them (granted, I've gone to like 4 games in my life where the shirts were handed out).

I don't care who did it, I don't consider it a good use of resources for whoever does it, team or sponsor. I'd be fine if they stopped doing those stupid bangers too.

I have a much higher desire for the team to keep the TV as is, and the radio as is, and either keep Tiago/Cronin (etc) or if they're going to replace them, don't be cheap ass about it.

Isaac and Scuk are clowning on their radio show who is upset about this and it's hilarious.

#CheapCity

In all honesty, the no t-shirts thing is not a deal breaker for me. Every time I went to a playoff game they didn’t hand them out so I have never cared. Plus this is Rip City, we know how to show up all decked out in our awesome and old school Trail Blazer attire.

Yep. The Suns Tshirts we got on Tuesday night were sponsored by fan dual

Not necessarily true, smart businessmen, that have a friend that very knowledgable about the new league you just joined, would absolutely consult or bounce ideas off them. Just like when Tom told the Portland young investor when he called him, asked him how the F he's accomplished so much being so young, and would you be willing to teach my kids, he said jokingly. And why wouldnt I want someone like him on my team?
Tom is the type of manager that if you have something to say, say it, and don't be afraid, he wont put a gun to your head. Thats how he gets feedback and learns. What do we do well, and whats needs improvement. Everyone in the org should be ready to address those two points, and, how have you contributed? He's going to be an open door guy I bet.

Id rather he cut some promo shit than good staffing. Get the vendors or sponsors to spring for promo's periodically. They can right a good portion off.

I MUST ASSUME THE WORST!!!

1. He has no concept of local culture or the special bond between the team and native Portlanders and Oregonians, and he'll bring in his Texass culture and values.

2. He's a cheap greedy bastard and he'll ruin the fan experience.

3. He'll make dumbshit big name "win now" moves and set us back for another two decades after we're finally starting to put something good together.

4. Country music at games. I'll walk out if that happens.

5. He'll think and act and talk like just because he bought the team, it's his. Pro sports teams belong to the fans. He's just a custodian.

My biggest fear is that he is super hands on and thinks trading all of our assets for an aging “star” is the way to go. I don’t care if he’s stingy as long as it’s not with contracts. I’m gonna be pissed if we downgrade from Splitter. I think he’s been excellent.

In my defense I was 11 when Paul bought the team 😁
He was almost exactly 10 months older than me. We would have been in same grade in school. I listened to Hendrix. Oh fuck getting weepy. Time for this old lady and her cat to hit the sack.
