As a season ticket holder i am not as upset about no tshirts because i don't get a tshirt as i am the intimidation factor.
I like the shirts but i think the true importance is how the stands look with everyone in black or in red.

There is something to be said about walking into the opponents auditorium to see allyh fans unified in one color. I think its intimidating and sparks fans to be even louder.

BUt yes. I am concerned about them going cheap. Tom just got done saying its about the fans and he aims to make the experience the best.

Fans dont want to hear sbout bow the owner is forcing the players to hang in lobbies and cutting tshirts and stuff.

So whether it makes a dent or not, im concerned about them saying one thing and doing another regarding spending. Already seeing it happen to an extent.

lol this isnt a big deal at all. its more for the young kids wearing a cool shirt, but its not that serious and the fact that Sheel said we are going to do something different means we are in sit and wait mode. But I dont think its a big deal overall.

It’s not about the T-shirt that you’ll never wear again, it’s about the experience, it’s about everyone having another layer of bond in that arena, acting as one force against the Spurs. It’s fan engagement and all for pennies for the franchise. This is just another rough look for a guy that already has the nickname Tight Wad Tommy in my RipCity friends chat!

Then you don't announce no T-shirts. You wait until you know what you're going to do and then you announced you're doing this thing rather than t-shirts.

Then nobody is disappointed about going cheap. They are excited about the new thing. Or they debate if they like the shirts better or the new thing.

This just looks like a cheap move. This looks like a Donald Trump sharpie moment.

Not encouraging.

Sourcing from Jake Fischer now

Nothing wrong with paying a young coach 11/2 million on short contract. Look at all the young guys coaching now. Some have gotten extensions and pay raises passed on performance.

He’s gonna go cheap and ruin it. That will save me a lot of money in the long run because I am no longer addicted to the logo; I expect a fun and interesting experience, not Donald Sterling 2.0

Agreed. If you're doing something different, just tell people what you are doing and there's no reason mention T-shirts at all. I thought the synchronized glowing bracelet thing they've done before was pretty cool. Do that.

If he’s not willing to pay more than 1.5 mil for a coach that’s very concerning. Overpaying to get talent to Portland seems to be necessary to some extent. If we down grade from splitter after a playoff season to save 1-2 mil I’m gonna have a hard time liking Tom. This isn’t the NHL.

Ok let’s take a look at this a little closer.

Highest paid NHL coach makes 6.5 mil
Avg pay for NHL coach is 2.5 -3.5 mil
Hurricane coach makes 2 mil(a raise from 1.8 mil)

My take is no way does he expect to get a decent NBA coach for less than a cheap NHL coach. My other take away is that he is cheap and anyone hoping for a Kerr like hire will be very disappointed.

One of my nightmare scenarios is gone now. Doc Rivers has said he's coached his last game.

According to Google the lowest NBA head coach salary(not acting coach) is 4 mil.

Maybe his plan is to roll back salaries to the early 2000s.

I think the story is bullshit. No way he thinks he's getting an NBA head coach for the same price as an NHL head coach.

He'll likely want to stay right at the league low of 4M and I'm cool with that as a starting salary for a first time head coach. Still hoping for a young guy with a lot of experience like 40 year old Johnnie Bryant who could probably be had for 4M a season.

There's a lot of smoke.

The weird thing is that underpaying a college coach doesn't at all make sense with this roster. We have some young guys, but we also have a bunch of older guys. Now is not the time to bring in a college coach with zero NBA experience.

If this is at all true, it puts a lot of doubt in my mind about this guy running the team. We're about to become the Portland A's.

Yeah, there's no such thing as moneyball in the NBA.

I hope it's only smoke because you don't have to get a big name coach or overpay for a coach but you at least need to match the lowest paid head coaches in the league.
