There will be of course lots of talk about the 'middle class' in the tax cut debate.

I see in the Washington post a little graphic about what the 'middle class' is - 30th to 80th income percentile, for Multnomah County, that's $32k-108k household income (pretty much identical to the US as a whole).

So, how many of us are middle class? Poll above.

I'm guessing that we as a group will be skewed more towards above-middle, because we have so much time to waste on silly polls like this. But maybe I'm wrong...

I live in LA, its the only decent place with authentic Mexican food.

I had some GREAT Mexican in Albuquerque NM but yeah, last time I had some really good mexican it was in Pasadena CA.

Nothing like fresh, warm, homemade, churros...

:hungry:

And in New Mexico, you probably had New Mexican food, not Mexican food.

Honestly, Mexican food is all we can eat nowadays, too expensive to eat white people food, especially if u are poor like me.

Most people above $100K consider themselves middle class.

FWIW

In Sillicon Valley, people above $200K are scraping by.

I have a graduate degree in the sciences, I work in a field related to my degree. My wife is a medical professional and we make more than the supposed cut for middle class, but we live in Multnomah county and it feels like we are scraping by much of the time.

I don't really know what these arbitrary categories based on raw income mean anymore.

It is quite possible to receive over $1,000,000 income value per year solely from public assistance. More if you're not a Caucasian male and even more if you are not a US citizen.

We talking gross, net, after-tax, pre-tax, earned vs trust-fund, under the table, over the table, foreign donations to the MARIS61 FOUNDATION...? :dunno:

I can't wait until HCP brags about how much he makes and how it puts him in the "Upper Class".

I certainly am not skeptical of any claim you might make, you always stick to the facts and avoid hyperbole - but exactly how is that possible? I'd like to know the programs and the payout amounts, and the family size that creates a $1M overall income from public assistance. I look forward to the data.

It varies from state to state.

California has and will continue to divert limitless taxpayer funds from other programs simply to defend illegal aliens against deportation.

Oregon has no limit on medical expenses covered by taxpayers for illegal aliens. None at all.

Not to mention Obamacare covers the entire $20,000+ per year premiums for anyone who refuses to work for a living.

You'd be doing very well for yourself down here at even the middle class option.

Klamath County the middle class range is $25-$80k. Not sure if that's where you are or not though.
