Pornography In Avatars

Can we get some order in regards to the avatars. It is disgusting to see pornography in some people's avatars over here. Makes this site unviewable in public.

I think this discussion happened yesterday.

The basic response was that you can turn off avatars or get Firefox and have the individual images you don't like blocked.

Personally, I think nothing screams "I'm a cyber-dork" like putting a picture of a hot chick in your avatar. The fact I'm even using "hot chick" and "avatar" in the same sentence makes me feel like a freakin' nerd.

We have a stickied thread on this forum (as opposed to a sticky thread, which it might also be) where you can scroll through hot chick photos at your leisure.

Or, you can do what normal people do and keep your sports and porn surfing separate.

I agree. DaRizzle's avatar is completely out of bounds. I can't surf at work if people can see the Piss & Purple.

crandc's is the worst, because it is the only one with just a bare nude part, with no underwear in there. Having underwear in there has been the past threshold for qualifying something as not being nudity and being nudity.

But any avatar with near naked ladies as well helps make this site unviewable in public. I almost am always viewing this site in public, and don't care to switch off avatars, because they can be used to quickly see in your peripheral vision who wrote the post.

An avatar like Anima's is more tasteful.

Cyber dorks come in all shapes and sizes. Some like to post pictures of themselves, or their friends, or their children, or their dog, or their motocycle, or their car. Others like to post pictures of obscure symbols, or punk-rock bands, or certain kinds of food, or movie posters, or books, or baskebal players wearing sunglasses . . .

You get the idea. A hot chick is a sign of nothing except that the guy likes hot chicks, and who doesn't?

Those are also words, not images. Images are much easier to see than a word on the computer screen. Images captivate. Words, they're there.

Actually the thing that pisses me off, is folks who go around expecting others to live their life, just as they would live theirs. You may not like the avatars. That's nice, that is your problem. Turn them off. Go be a conservative on your own time. Not mine.

As for CranDC's avatar, she only threw that up in response to all of the other avatars out there with scantily clad women. If you can't take as good as you give, then maybe you shouldn't be playing.

Your avatar is one of the few that personally offends me and makes me wonder why you even come to our board, along with those that dis President Obama such as AgentDrazenPetrovich's avatar.

Political statement avatars make viewing this site totally impossible in many public places I frequent, as they would end up costing me clients who would be offended, or would think I'm unpatriotic, or would think I'm mentally challenged.

That's why I don't view ANY message boards in public settings. That, and the fact you'd have to be an incredible introvert to do so while in a public place where there are real people to interact with instead.

Get a life or block the avatars you don't like.

We're not here to be ruled by your insecurities.
