Let's see how her "Let protesters burn the city to the fucking ground" policy works before we pass judgement.

Portland: Welcome to your future.

You have to realize modern society is so fucked in the head. Celebrate love my ass, everyone is working to spite people they disagree with. No one gives a fuck about anyone else. It's all agenda driven BS.

People hate one another, much of tolerance is self serving in nature.

Perhaps. It's all one upsmanship.

Arguing about things that don't directly involve oneself is nothing more than mental masturbation.

Can't possibly be worse than some of the Chiefs we have had, so good luck!

Stupid. She was hired just because she's a black woman. Nice PC move Mayor.

Guess what, having black police chiefs, black city councils, black officers, a black president and a black head of DOJ STILL didn't quell baseless accusations of "systemic racism".

Is this just baseless speculation, or do you actually have some supporting evidence to corroborate your claim. Is she not sufficiently qualified? Did someone else interview significantly better? Does she have a checkered professional past?

What facts--besides the facts of her genitalia and melanin concentration--lead you to conclude that those factors were the primary considerations in her hiring?

Why? I'm overjoyed by this selection. Black women from Oakland don't take shit.
????

My comment was in regards to the rioting picture that was posted. It has nothing to do with the selection.

She's probably a total badass take no shit type that people make movies about. But it sure seems like she wouldn't have got the job if she wasn't a black woman.

I'm just guessing about her other than I read an old story where someone said she was honest about OPD problems.

But why does it seem that way to you? Simply because she's a black woman? Did the mayor give some sort of advance indication that he was looking to hire a black woman? If a white man had been hired, and @dviss1 and @crandc said he wouldn't have gotten the job if he weren't a white man, would you be in agreement with them?

Sorry, I just hate crap like this. What good does it do to speculate as to whether her race or gender factored into her hiring? She has the job. She is the chief. All statements like the above accomplish is to diminish respect for the person holding the office, suggesting that she didn't earn it on merit alone. Unless there's some other evidence out there to suggest that she's not actually deserving of the position based on her education, experience, acumen, abilities, and accomplishments, why not assume that she was actually the best person for the job?

I truly don't give a fuck what any of you think about this. Any of you. You only start having these questions when somebody black gets hired. We don't have these questions when a white male gets hired. I don't need to be tagged in this to get the black person's perspective. I don't care. I'm happy that she's a black woman. Black women from Oakland don't take no shit.

Who'd you vote for?

Seems like Donald Trump only got the job because he is a rich white male... See what I did there...?

They pretty much said so without saying so. I don't even have a problem with it because as I said, she's probably awesome. If anyone has any reason to bitch it would be someone who's been working in that department for years and didn't get the job because they didn't have the right skin color or genitals.

He only got the job because of his name. He only is rich because of his father. I voted for him over a woman who was going to get the job because of her sex and who she was married to.

Neither of them were the best of the best. See what I did there?

You know whats funny to me?
I heard there was a new police chief, but I didn't know it was a woman nor a black person.... Cause frankly I didn't matter.
My thoughts when the new chief was hired?
'I hope they do a good job'.

I find it sad people are so ready in to fight about race & gender in todays society.
Goes back to the whole hiring of Becky Hammon. People were up in arms because they didn't think men could be lead by a woman.
Get the fuck over it, if they're qualified it doesn't matter what color or gender you are.

Just like I laughed at people during the election when they said. 'being a woman disqualifies you from being president'. Such ignorance.

Disclaimer - This isn't directed at anyone in particular.

The question I have is how would you choose a new chief fairly? How do you choose the best person.

How do you test them?

Here's the part of the article that seems like code for choosing her because she is a black woman

"The mayor selected Outlaw after a national search that lasted less than three months and was conducted largely behind closed doors with input from a select group of community members."
