I was on a plane too. From Hawaii. Heard message from my brother after we landed. First thing I thought was that it could be Jordan/Bowie all over again and with our NW rivals in Seattle this time. I was wishing we had gotten the second pick so that the choice would be made for us.
Hindsight 20/20. Don't you remember this?

The knock on GO was always can he stay healthy. KD? Was he physical enough for the NBA? Even if he could score, would he be a modern day George Gervin type? Seems ridiculous now with what KD has done in his career that his bench press number had anything to do with his draft value. If you just relied on the eye test back then, KD in a landslide. He crushed at Texas. Meanwhile, GO lumbered around Ohio St with his right hand in a cast. People marveled how could shoot 60% FT with his left hand. He looked clumsy at times, & foul prone. Once in a while he'd flash something special. But this was a guy who had been talked about since he was in the 7/8th grade. What we saw from him was suspect at times at OSU, but his legend had grown so much by then. Impossible not to draft him. People forget that there were concerns about KD though as well.
