Olshey says theyre looking long term, but also want team to stay competitive, but is that even possible? I mean, we cant bring FA, Dame is in his prime, and we cant go past first round, even if we could, we would lose in the second round, so Dames career could be flushed down the toilet, or should I say, it will be flushed down the toilet, same as CJs, cause were never gonna go past GSW... and I wonder what would Blazers fans think about potential rebuild, not immediately, but lets say in two years time, while we see what Nurk and Collins can bring... would you be open to trading Dame, or Dame and CJ, and go to proper rebuild of this team with Nurk, Collins, picks and assets

lets face it, were never gonna win a championship unless through draft, so we can stay mediocre team, or dream big, but would you dare blowing this core for a dream?

Maybe I wrote alot of crap, but I thought it would be intersting to bring it up to discussion!

We will be in full rebuild mode once Nurk gets his payday which isn't too far off...

Why would we need a rebuild? we are the youngest team in the league. Dame,CJ, are basically in their prime. Nurk could be a star. I don't know exactly what you are seeing because I see a young team with two stars, and one guy who can definitely become a star this upcoming season. We have two rookies coming in who have a lot of potential. All we need is some more talent. No need for a rebuild.

Yeah. This

You take a shot for at least 3-4 years with this team. If for some reason it obviously isn't working then you can think about keeping Nurk and Collins and maybe moving Dame or CJ. I don't see that happening though. This team looked pretty solid with Nurk. Picture of things to come.

I see your point and agree with you, but its lot easier to say "All we need is some more talent", than bring that talent here... if we can do that and have a real shot at championship, then great, but it doesnt depend only on us, cause GSW are not going away any time soon, and while it can be a good ride, it will never be a great ride, not to mention amazing ride, which would mean fight for championship or wining championship

on the other hand, we could get a great return for Dame and CJ to start a rebuild

Im not drunk, but maybe Im retarded or something

Not a proponent of rebuild, but I'm now open to trading Dame or CJ (most likely CJ)

Youngest team in the league needs to rebuild?

Dame doesn't base his game on his athleticism too much. Barring major injury, he has at least 10 years left in him, 7 at a high level most likely. He didn't put a lot of miles on his body like dwade or anyone and was in college late.

Also we didn't see this whole team together for more than 1/4 season. Sheesh. We are also probably closest to the Cavs to the Warriors in terms of matching up with them w a healthy Nurk

But there is no need to trade Dame or CJ. None at all. Every other team like us is in the same position with GS right now. Nothing anybody can do except for Cleveland or Boston if they add Paul George in the east and even then they probably lose. Doesn't mean we should just stop trying to compete or just scrap it. Swanigan or Collins could very well one day be a star at the time Dame and CJ are hovering around 30 both playing at a high level. Now imagine Nurk becomes a star. That's a great squad. 3-4 years when GS is fading

The Portland Trail Blazers, basketball team. A team barely alive.

We can rebuild them. We have the technology. We can make them better than they were. Better, stronger, faster.

Nah NAH nah Nah... Nah NahNahNahNah... Nah NAH nah Nah...

This is a good question. Homers will scoff, and "realists" will agree with you. I will try and look at both sides.

On one hand, Dame and CJ are entering their prime, but so are Curry, Thompson, Green and Durant.

Dame and CJ are amazing, but Thompson and Curry are better....if for no other reason, defense.

Nurk is a stud, but can he stay healthy?

We have no one who natches up with Green and Durant AND they play defense.

We are young, but a lot of our youth sucks.

So do we see what we have in Collins and Swanigan, then ship Dame and CJ off for multiple picks and hope to get lucky enough to find players who someday will be as good as them now?

Do we continue to add role playing pieces in hopes to get lucky with an injury?

The league is 3 point happy, but do we continue to add 3 point shooters, or change the game?

To me, Nurk and if Collins turns out better than I hope he does, that is our advantage. We aren't going to beat GS at their own game.

Shutting down their shooters...or slowing them down, and pounding the ball down low is how to beat them. It's exactly what the Cavs did to them last year with Lebron.

It seems to me our bench needs to be more specialized. Harkless, Aminu, etc do things well, but nothing very well. Add guys next to Dame and CJ who compliment them...ie play defense first, but can also hit open 3s

So in conclusion, instead of rebuilding and hoping, adding the right perimeter pieces might get us competitive. Guys that will frustrate and piss off other opponents.

That was some funny shit right there. I'll check out their other stuff.... Thanks!
The series is on Netflix. They made a series based on the old guy characters called "Still Game" and I highly recommend watching it, too if you like that sort of thing. Burnistoun is another excellent Scottish sketch series...

I think you have too much time on your hands.

The rebuild is going well, without doing anything we've become better than the Clippers and Spurs.

That simply can't be true. The Rockets and Timberwolves got better, there is no way that the Blazers improved, at all.

actually it wouldnt... Its about rebuild two years from now, so we can still achieve that 82-0 plan

Did I say "this season"? I meant "every season".

In conclusion..... we should all watch football instead.
