Portland Trail Blazers trade rumors 2016: Clippers' Blake Griffin the missing piece?

Ecumenical because this idea is as much of a prayer as the Lillard "best fit" rumors that we were laughing at yesterday.

BG is so last year, now it's all about DMC. Seriously though I would have done it in a second last year before all that BS. Now I question his ethic and wonder if he would even fit in here. He's got tons of talent, but likely too much ego.

I hate sites like this that post something, and then don't have a comment section at the end of the article, that they can get belittled in....

This Ecumenical News article uses an Inquisitr article as their source.

The Inquisitr article is using the Sportsrageous website as their source.

There are several sportsrageous articles with Blake Griffin trade rumors. But I could not find the one with the Blazers, because, I was laughing so hard at some of their trade rumors.
And the sportsrageous piece is simply based on some random post from a guy on NBA-trade-rumors.com, which doesn't actually include any rumors, just people's trade suggestions.

I hate the internet sometimes.

I agree that Blake Griffin is someone that could be traded this year, and I agree that he could help the Blazers in a vacuum. But we have pretty much exhausted this discussion in the past, and I believe the consensus is that he wouldn't stay here, so trading for him would be futile.

Yep, extend and trade only. And they wouldn't want what we'd be willing to give, so it doesn't matter.

Ecumencial news said it, I believe it, it's good enough for my grand-dad and it's good enough for me.

Blake Griffin does some idiotic things from time to time but the guy is still one of the best post players in the game. The dude just scores! Something that the Blazers lack unless, Vonleh can become one of those guys.

What? have you watched how uncoordinated he is in the post?
He scores in the paint because he has CP3, DJ, and is just more athletic than most players his size.
Has nothing to do with his post moves, or ability to have the ball thrown to him on the block.
He's an above average passer for a big, but he is throwing lobs to DJ. Can't be that hard.
Griffin is a Star in the NBA and one of the best at his position. But he's far from one of the best post players in the game.

I'd be concerned that the Clippers would even think of trading Blake. If CP3 can't reign in Blake why would Dame?

Don't really need to reign him in. Got plenty of scorers without him. The concern is getting him to buy into the system and stick around after his contract runs out.

I'd rather have DeMarcus Cousins. But if Vonleh can continue to grow and improve and show signs like he did last night. There might not need to do a thing.

Vonleh's development isn't in our window.

Vonleh's development isn't in our window.

It could be.... but we just have so many young bigs. It's going to be impossible to find enough time for all of them. Vonleh is young enough that it's going to be worth it to hold onto him though.... unless he's part of a bigger consolidation trade.

Vonleh's development isn't in our window.

You make it sound like this team has a three year window and then they are toast. This teams age from an average standpoint is in the lower to mid 20's. If he continues to develop and make strides this year. He would be ready and able to help this team make a push for years to come.

Dame signed for 5. He will be 30. CJ for 4. He will be 29. Not much of a window between 30-35.

Fuck Blake Griffin, his brother Peter, Demarcus Cousins, Darius Miles and...........

Wait for it.........

Raymond Felton.

The Internet: Where any random uninformed idiot can post a brain fart, and it gets reported, and re-reported, as a "trade rumor". SMH

Because CP3 (even though he's a pass 1st guy) is an asshole. :dunno:

During the LAC series, Reggie Miller kept going on and on about how CP3 is the best leader in the league. Well, he's been paired with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan for five seasons and has not been able to lead them past the 2nd round a single time.

Over those five seasons, the Clippers have the third highest cumulative regular season winning percentage in the Western Conference, but not a single Conference Finals appearance to show for it. Every other team in the top six has made at least one trip to the Conference Finals. Best leader in the entire league? Certainly not when it matters the most.

And this is how "Rumors" get started.
Keep up the good work Sly. All in good time my friend.

Boogie and John Wall to Portland trade rumor.

It appears most of the unrealistic trade rumors are coming out of SportsRageous. My impression of that site, it writes articles about trades for fantasy leagues, not real rumors. Then other sites like the Ecumenical News and the Inquisitr rewrite the articles and leave out the Fantasy part. I maybe wrong about this assumption, so if anyone has better intel on the SportsRageous site, please post.

Here is a sample of a 4 team fantasy trade from SportRageous. It has Boogie and John Wall traded to Portland, with Dame going to the Kings, Vonleh to the Suns, Festus is also traded somewhere.

http://www.sportsrageous.com/nba/de...sees-boogie-teaming-john-wall-portland/50052/

SportsRageous even says this trade is weird, and calls it a fantasy trade several times. Here is their disclaimer at the end of the article.

"This is just a fantasy trade, however, if teams would take a closer look it is plausible and might work. But regardless if the concerned teams check it, the season is about to start and they might just check it come midseason."
