This would make me so happy. The Jazz radio guys have been very leary about the Blazers abilty to screw up "the biggest off seasion in Utah Jazz history". (yes that is the promo they run every day all day on the local radio station)

Maybe Kammerich will finally come over. Or Nicola. I mean, we waited for Sabonis, we can wait for these guys.

I heard Gerald Wallace is stepping off the plane any minute now. ;)

I'm kind of thinking this is a chess move. Try to make Utah match so we can force them into a deal. If they don't, we get Millsap.

I've heard Portland likes Millsap, and would like him to sign, but by getting him to an offer sheet, it also gets Utah to move on Boozer more quickly, which could help Portland (i.e. the three-way deal with Chicago and Utah). Utah was wanting to move Boozer without taking on too much cap room, which Portland has. Thus, Portland gets Hinrich or Millsap, depending on what decision Utah makes.

Or it could all backfire and Utah could decide to match on Millsap and move Boozer elsewhere.

Salt Lake City is a very cosmopolitan town! Very hip,has an international feel. Hope Mrs. Millsap doesn't want to stay!

The plane will probably crash! And KP probably didn't take out flight insurance!

So with the passing of Larry Miller, who owns the Jazz now?

Considering how much praise Presti gets, I bet he does something to get him. :devilwink:

If they want to help a division rival theyd go after Boozer in a lopsided deal. I dont think they will though. Butthey could facilitate a deal to fuck with us. That would help Utah though, and they're closer to passing them than us so I would expect them to stay away, which is probably why PDX is pursuing this.

With Boozer, Okur and Korver all opting in, Utah cant' afford to match any reasonable offer for Millsap. They would be in luxury tax hell. So, if Portland makes a serious run at Millsap, only OKC, and perhaps Memphis would be our only serious competition. Memphis seems to have their sights set elswehere (A.I - no shit) and they just took on Zach's big contract. So, I don't think they would be interested in topping our offer and overpaying Millsap to back-up Zach.

That just leaves up and OKC. I'm banking that we'll be willing to spend more - and that Millsap wants to play on a winning team.

It's true. Reminds me a lot of Calgary.

Damn that KP, couldn't spend the extra $42 million flight insurance!

Burn him!

The best thing about my trip to SLC was when I was leaving. I'm serious.

I'll believe it when I see it, but if KP really does pull this off My dream is that the followup move is Przybilla along with somebody else (or maybe two "sombody elses?") could be packaged together to try and go out and get either a really good point guard or a play making wing. You could run a front court rotation of Millsap, LMA and Oden and give Pendergraph table scrap minutes as a backup 4/5. On the other hand, I don't see this either A) materializing or B) coming to fruition -- and I base both of those conclusions on purely illogical emotions.

I believe his wife and sons took over, but I may be mistaken. They should have been left with quite a bit of money from both the Jazz, his theatre companies, and his former car businesses.

Could be that we are just trying to force OKC to spend their cap room on Millsap. Then we are the only ones left with cap space and can set our price for the remaining free agents. Two, two, two for the price of one!

I'd rather have Odom still. Millsap is JUST a PF. He can't play C. He can't play SF. LaMarcus should be playing around 35mpg at PF (he doesn't play well at C at all). Millsap can't just play 13mpg.

Interesting that almost every poster seems to like this move. However, the rumors about Lee were dividing the group.

How would signing Milsap be much different than signing Lee?

I don't think you have to force OKC to do anything with their cap space. I believe they are content to stand pat this off-season and try to use it next year on a marquee free agent or a couple of good role-players to surround Durant and company.

1. He defends 20x better than Lee.

2. It hurts Utah.
