I take it he flew in from Charlotte?:devilwink:

Interesting... seems like a lot of detail in that report, I wonder why that is?

Although Millsap is a restricted free agent, meaning the Jazz can match any offer, the Blazers are preparing what one source called a "toxic" offer designed to exterminate interest from other teams.

O_______O

This is awesome. Utah is fucked. Only OKC could fuck this up for us now.

Considering how much praise Presti gets, I bet he does something to get him. :devilwink:

I can get behind this move. The kid is a tough player with a good attitude.

*drools*
Sources say Millsap has told the Blazers he would be amicable to playing behind LaMarcus Aldridge, the Blazers' returning power forward and one of the franchise's cornerstones. The Blazers are hoping Millsap provides some interior grit and toughness, two qualities that were lacking in a first-round playoff loss to Houston

I'm kind of thinking this is a chess move. Try to make Utah match so we can force them into a deal. If they don't, we get Millsap.

i'm curious what is 'toxic'

oh yea..

PAUL MILLSAP!!!

I would guess a massively front loaded contract.

Like, 90 million the first month or something.

I hate to see what happens if this deal doesn't go down....

I would love this move. The guy put up monster numbers when given the time.

I wonder how this offer will be "toxic" to keep other teams away.

I will be selling these on craigslist. It will be a sellers market :devilwink:

Watch everyone freak the fuck out and call KP a loser if we don't get Millsap now.

LoL

I'm sure you can predict it.

A: fans will hate on KP
B: fans will make fun of Utah, wondering (out loud) why a player would go there instead of Portland (even if it wasn't necessarily his choice).
C: Millsap will be a jerk.
D: Curse you Chris Wallace!
E: I hate KP!

I'd LOVE to get Millsap. I wanted the Blazers to pick him at 30, or 31 back in the 2006 draft. We ended up passing on him 3 times before he finally fell to Utah. Of course, if we would have drafted him back then, he'd be our RFA right now and all we'd have to do is set back and match any offer. Sounds like we may end up overpaying to get him, but that's better than doing nothing with all that cap space.

The only problem I see, is that he can REALLY only play the 4. Is he going to be happy in Portland getting overpaiud to back-up LaMarcus Aldridge for 12 - 14 minutes a game? Of course, LaMarcus can also play back-up minutes at the 5, especially when paired with a rebounding stud like Millsap. A big man rotation of Oden, Aldridge and Millsap would be sweet.

So, perhaps this could be just the first domino to fall - perhaps followed by a trade of Joel to shore up our PG position. I know Chicago originally wanted Joel before they blew their wad on Ben Wallace a few years ago. Perhaps a Joel/Travis or Joel/Blake package to Chicago is next in line.

This would be amazing. If we can convince Millsap to play behind LA... and be the focal point of our second unit (which gets a lot of run)... studly.

Won't Utah just try to dump Boozer and then match? Boozer's leaving at the end of the year anyway. Maybe they'll give him to the Suns for Big Ben's contract, because BB's supposed to be retiring.

Maybe KP took a huge dump on the contract, and is asking other teams to "go ahead..pick it up!"
